Kolli will be used as a striker and Sutton is only 17.
Dembele, Chair, Poku, Smyth isn't really enough I don't think. Saito only 23 as well so a good pick up if price is right

If you keep Dunne, JCS, Varane fit all season, sign a left back, sign a CM, Burrell turns out to be decent and Poku, Chair, Dembele all fire then yeah... the team is good. But you are asking A LOT of things to happen

The striker situation has I suppose now been addressed with Burrell and Ba being added to Frey/Celar/Kolli.
No idea if it's good enough.

Left back is just the huge red flashing sign for me

I do think if we are going to play 2 in midfield with Chair in behind the striker we are in for a world of pain.
Field is a great battler, but isn't great at progressing the ball, whilst Madsen and Morgan are far too easy to run off.
I'd still have 3 in there with Chair off the left.

The need for a left back is stark as well

We also had a half and half away kit

(why we went with pink instead of red I will never know)

If Kelman won't sign a new deal (understandable) and a decent offer is on the table then we should cash in.
I'd rather keep him, but if he starts scoring without that contract then he will walk for free in the summer.

We need to sell players, always. If it's for anything above £2m then we take the money and invest

So manager comes from French league, and 3 linked players from the French league. It doesn't scream 'elite scouting operation' if I'm honest.
Encouraging that we are linked with strikers and CM's as we need people in those positions.
Mad that we haven't gone for a LB yet.... but still time

Field is a wonderful DM. Can run all day and tackle like an animal. What he will never be though is someone to receive the ball, turn and punch it forward. It's not his game and if we are playing with a 2 man midfield behind a '10' we are going to struggle a lot this season

Interesting that the bids have come from Luton and Charlotte FC. Not exactly the high end Champ clubs some thought.
I'd love to keep him. He's done the hard yards on loan and it seems a shame to lose him as he starts to come good. However if he isn't signing a deal you need to take the money you can for him. He is unproven at this level

Decent first 45.
We were really struggling until Chair started dropping in to pick up the ball. Him and Smyth pressing like demons

season not looking good

IF the starting 11 v PNE is

Nardi
Dunne Mbengue Morrison Larkeche
Vale Varane Field
Poku Kelman Chair

then perhaps the season turns out OK. However you are asking a hell of a lot from players that haven't performed above Lg 1 before coupled with others staying fit before you get down to Paul Smyth and a collection of children starting every week. You also need your sulky data led buys from last season to magically come good.

Starting 11 is serviceable, squad is thin and lightweight. You could just as easily be going up to Stoke in mid Jan with a team of

Nardi
Adamson Dunne Mbengue Esquardinha
Morgan Field Madsen
Dembele Celar Smyth

Which frankly is asking for a world of trouble

It's a shocking result. We've been gubbed 6-0 a team in a league that's a worse standard than ours.
It's a damning indictment of the so called 'ballers' in our development squad as well.
Walsh, Bennie, Larkeche, Tuck, Morgan, Pearman, Sutton all unable to lay a glove on players they will be hoping to be at the level of this season or next.
As for the so called senior pros, my word. Field had a stinker, Celar wouldn't know a press if it smacked him in the face, Dembele offered next to no protection down the right.

Suddenly we are relying on Varane wanting to stay and continuing his improvement, Kelman wanting to stay and translating his form to the level above, JCS and Cook to miraculously remain fit.

For all the Nourry lovers on X this should be a wake up call (it isn't, it's Smyth and Field's fault).
If we'd lost 2-0 and played like that it would be just as concerning

An inauspicious start.

The right side of the team completely non existent. Not sure Bennie a viable option at RB.
As for Celar... plays at his own pace for sure

How optimistic are you now?

Also, supporting a team like ours is fun and quirky. I had a group of mates at school that were all Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool and they ended up following Barnet home and away because they just felt more involved and part of it.
Football gets you when you're young and if you end up becoming a football nerd (like so many of us) then watching Arsenal occasionally on Sky Sports just isn't enough.

Our first 4 home games are about as easy as they come. Big chance for manager to get the fans on side and keep picking up points ahead of a tough November
