IF the starting 11 v PNE is Nardi Dunne Mbengue Morrison Larkeche Vale Varane Field Poku Kelman Chair then perhaps the season turns out OK. However you are asking a hell of a lot from players that haven't performed above Lg 1 before coupled with others staying fit before you get down to Paul Smyth and a collection of children starting every week. You also need your sulky data led buys from last season to magically come good. Starting 11 is serviceable, squad is thin and lightweight. You could just as easily be going up to Stoke in mid Jan with a team of Nardi Adamson Dunne Mbengue Esquardinha Morgan Field Madsen Dembele Celar Smyth Which frankly is asking for a world of trouble |

It's a shocking result. We've been gubbed 6-0 a team in a league that's a worse standard than ours. It's a damning indictment of the so called 'ballers' in our development squad as well. Walsh, Bennie, Larkeche, Tuck, Morgan, Pearman, Sutton all unable to lay a glove on players they will be hoping to be at the level of this season or next. As for the so called senior pros, my word. Field had a stinker, Celar wouldn't know a press if it smacked him in the face, Dembele offered next to no protection down the right. Suddenly we are relying on Varane wanting to stay and continuing his improvement, Kelman wanting to stay and translating his form to the level above, JCS and Cook to miraculously remain fit. For all the Nourry lovers on X this should be a wake up call (it isn't, it's Smyth and Field's fault). If we'd lost 2-0 and played like that it would be just as concerning |

An inauspicious start. The right side of the team completely non existent. Not sure Bennie a viable option at RB. As for Celar... plays at his own pace for sure |

Still waiting on Michael Petrasso to come good |

Absolutely awful news. Recently married and 3 young kids. Terrible |

Also, supporting a team like ours is fun and quirky. I had a group of mates at school that were all Arsenal/Spurs/Liverpool and they ended up following Barnet home and away because they just felt more involved and part of it. Football gets you when you're young and if you end up becoming a football nerd (like so many of us) then watching Arsenal occasionally on Sky Sports just isn't enough. |

Our first 4 home games are about as easy as they come. Big chance for manager to get the fans on side and keep picking up points ahead of a tough November |

Two first names One French Cup Julian Stephan's taking us up (same tune as the start of the Buzsaky song) |

Fantastic news. The defence suddenly looks far more settled now and any new right back this summer can take his time to bed in. |

Off topic, but related to Hockey and this quote, has anyone read the Beartown books? They tap into this and are brilliant. 3 fiction books about an amateur hockey team in Sweden. Delves into what it means to be a fan, be a winner and be a community. Highly recommend for some off season reading! |

Good news. That's Chair, Field, JCS and Varane on long term deals which is certainly a starting point for any manager moving forward |
 | Forum Reply | Come back Southgate... at 13:11 11 Jun 2025
Because you still need to control the game and have a coherent shape. We played one DM v Andora and were terrible because the players were all standing on each others toes. |
 | Forum Reply | Come back Southgate... at 10:58 11 Jun 2025
Almost like Southgate was fantastic for England and achieved far more than any of his storied predecessors, but was mocked because he was a decent bloke. That being said we were pony last Euro's and somehow scrapped to the final (won one match in 90 mins). It seems Tuchel has decided he wants to play ALL THE ATTACKERS (which Southgate did last summer as well) but that never works for England. The best we have looked is with 2 deep pivots (Rice and Phillips/Henderson) but we can't play that because teenagers on Social Media moan it's boring. |

I do wonder at what stage they realise they've made an almighty screw up of this with regards to gardening leave/compensation and hiring someone with Marti still technically in place, and so we give it to Furlong for the season (likely with disastrous results as we put another legend through the QPR ringer) |
 | Forum Reply | 25/26. New kits at 08:21 6 Jun 2025
Think we are reading WAAAAYYYYY to much into this. Assume the home kit launches on the Friday and we have our final pre season game on the Saturday where you can buy the shirt in the club shop. Away shirt for the tour and third shirt for other friendlies |

If you look at the squad during the season he signed it still had Sandro and Caulker in but otherwise it didn't exactly scream billy bog bollox on loads of money. This was the Sylla, Yeni, Pawel, Bidwell, Goss, Cousins squad so perhaps they were players that should've been on £6-£7k a week but were getting £10-15k |

Think there's some merit in seeing if Fox or Colback will extend for a year. You do need squad players like that and you can't always just chuck in a kid and hope they'll give you 10 decent games |

Seems as though they are giving some of the older players their own send off from within the DS. Certainly the departing statements are something Nourrey has gotten right |

He has the ingredients to be a good manager. Lest we forget he was doing well for us before he went to Rangers far to early in his career. The Sunderland job was just weird. They hated him, he hated them. A scrappy London club where he can have them batting above their station is perfect for him. Hull a basket case, he'd be better off going to League 1 and starting from there |
