Yes, very enjoyable and like most I wasn't giving us a hope until the 75th minute. Yes we'll almost certainly be relegated next season but the financial boost means the future looks bright. We might not be able to buck the trend of promoted teams coming straight back down but it is good that today means only one of last season's relegated clubs has gone straight back up. Now for The U's to be at Wembley a year from now or better still automatic promotion. |

The Piatak family's ownership of Carlisle United has been a complete disaster. They have pumped a massive amount of money into the club by League Two standards. But they failed to get the most basic and important factor right; an experienced and knowledgeable football man to oversee footballing decisions. Colchester United have outstanding football men in the Cowleys. The most important brick is in place. Just as long as the new owners don't think appointing Wayne Rooney instead would be a good idea! |

The average home attendance appears to have been the highest for fifteen years. Apart from the obvious success the brothers led Lincoln to on the field it was how they awoke a disillusioned and uninterested support that was so impressive. Within two seasons they had more than trebled the average crowd at Sincil Bank. I thought it would be far more difficult to do the same in Essex but the signs are good. It is over fifty-five years since Colchester United's average home attendance topped 6,000. What a glorious 2025-26 if such a number were cheering The U's to promotion. |

Good to read that about the pitch. With a close-season of care let's hope it will be good from August until 2025-6 is over. As for this season; ante-post I'd hoped for better than it turned out, but considering where The U's stood when knocked out of The F.A. Cup at Swindon it wasn't bad all things considered: and those things were injuries to very important players too often. Even if Lyle Taylor hadn't missed the final four matches you might have clinched that last play-off place. But overall well done Danny, Nicky and the squad. We can only wish there won't be too many departures before the end of the summer window. Up The U's! |

There are surely mitigating circumstances if Colchester United fail to make the play-offs. If Arsenal and other PL clubs are severely hampered by injuries how much harder must it be when arguably the best three midfielders (Anderson, Bishop and Payne) at a League Two club are all struck down in short order. I hope the Cowleys can somehow get The U's over the line but considering these blows it would be an outstanding achievement. Good Luck to them! |

I don't think Colchester will be promoted this season but if they were I'd back the Cowleys to avoid relegation next. There's a real problem for promoted teams bridging the gap between Championship and Premier League. There is not the same chasm between Leagues One and Two especially with Danny and Nicky at the helm. |

Well the team have a few extra hours to recover before Gillingham on Tuesday in what will be Ainsworth's second match in charge and his first at home. 2025 started with two defeats in the league before the team put it behind them and got back on track. Let's hope The U's train is safely on the rails at The Priestfield Stadium. |

Highest crowd of the season. How often that is the way. |

I hope Bradford City didn't get their bad performance out of their system against Tranmere. Before today they'd won ten home league matches in a row. But today's defeat followed a loss at Gillingham in their last match. Anyway, another superb result for The U's today. What a run! |

What a ridiculous decision. We only have to look at how long it has taken the brothers to mould the squad into shape to see managers/coaches need time and patience. Lindsey was a very popular appointment when he arrived. His Crawley team had thrashed MK Dons in last season's play-off semi-final and been promoted. I know there has been a growing discontentment among much of MK's support but a good owner needs to back his manager and ignore the siren calls, at least till he's had a year and a couple of windows. Scott Lindsey had five months. |

The last time I saw Sunderland play away was twenty-five years ago losing 1-0 at Blackburn in The F.A. Cup. I have two memories of that match. One that we were unlucky but the other that practically all the thousands of Sunderland supporters stood for the entire ninety minutes. I looked at a poor old fellow too frail to stand and unable to see the pitch and thought how selfish and thoughtless those fans were. Of course it has become the norm but that doesn't make it any less objectionable. I hope the introduction of safe standing might alleviate the problem but I won't hold my breath. |

And came on after 73 minutes in a 1-2 win. |

Joe Taylor might be back tomorrow. Huddersfield and Michael Duff need him to get their season back on track. |
