 | News Comment | Southampton V Crystal Palace The Preview at 09:53:53
Nope, been sat here trying to think of a positive reply but it's bloody hard to conjure one up! Still be there though if I can get home in time! |
 | News Comment | Ross Stewart Could Feature Against Crystal Palace at 17:40:11
Lets ensure he is fully fit and not risk a set back. Regardless of all the negativity since his arrival. And to be honest it was pure folly to sign a long term injured striker in the first place. However if he is firing on all cylinders by the start of our Championship restart then he could be vital to our season. Providing we have a manager that knows how to set up a team to get the best out of the forward line? |
 | News Comment | Could Saints Throw In A Promising Youngster To The Attack at 17:31:30
Colburn, couldn't agree more we've not had the best strikers in the PL but we have had two managers that didn't utilise them at all! We have some decent youngsters but I feel playing under this manager could do more harm than good. |
 | News Comment | Southampton Supporters Enjoy A Rare Happy Weekend at 12:13:45
We didn't all have a good weekend Nick, my mate and I were so desperate to see another victory, at St Mary's, that we went to the ladies game! 😩😩☹ Anyway one final point, if Juric is still here for the new season, I'm seriously considering not renewing. It'll be bad enough, under Sky sports +, playing on every day of the week across the season, without knowing we will as disorganised a rabble as we are now too! |
 | News Comment | Sport Republic Can Be A Big Success For Southampton Says Spors at 15:08:20
It's a start, we've had no-one that can even talk a good game so far this season! Hopefully planning for next season is already underway and if he is up for the task, we should be prepared. Lets be honest it'd be pretty difficult to fark it up to the extent they are currently! |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Wolverhampton Wanderers The Verdict at 12:20:57
So we play a back four at Liverpool and put in a reasonable performance, not great but most of the game it looked like we had an idea of what we were doing. One week later we're back to the 1-5-5 formation or whatever it was supposed to be??? We were playing the fourth worst team in the league, who were missing their top goal scorer and we start without a striker? I know we had a false nine at Liverpool but that was Gronbaek, who was probably our best player on the day. While also disproving the stupid theory that he and Fernandes couldn't play together. But no he (Ivan) had to fiddle and change both personnel and tactics, difficult to try to fathom how this fella's mind works but the chants of Get a striker on the pitch showed how we all felt! Get him gone now! |
 | News Comment | Ivan Juric Sacking Rumours Surface at 10:07:53
We've shipped 29 goals in 10 games it's time for him to go. We need to get someone in to prepare for next season now, start looking at who is staying and build a team around them. Our current tactics and deployment of players is dragging confidence, both on and off the pitch, to an all time low. Come on SR, it's difficult to admit to mistakes but surely it is not in your interests to fail as badly as you are and if things remain like this we are league one bound! |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Chelsea The Preview at 16:45:47
I fear the worst but hope for the best tonight and would also like to see us a bit more solid. I'd be surprised, given his choice of lack of game time, if ABK can manage two games in four days. So if a 4 - 4 - 2 it will probably be Stephens or, with this manager, maybe Lumley at CB. What is a concern is a defensive midfielder, tonight, Downes is obviously elsewhere mentally and although Aribo does his best, CM is not a position for such a one footed player. The bit I'm confused by most, is that Juric or anyone else at St Mary's seemingly doesn't understand that if you don't score many goals, you really need to stop conceding them? |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Brighton The Verdict at 10:25:50
We have had no continuity in manager since Ralph (Selles was just a stand in) and have gone for the exact opposite of who was in charge every time. This current incumbent makes the Nathan Jones appointment look sensible? Almost everyone in the ground knows that we are inferior to most teams we face and yet we set up in a way that hands them even more advantage. We have defenders that can actually defend, given they play in their best position. We have a couple of reasonably good defensive midfielders, who given the right instruction can help protect those defenders. We also have some reasonably good attacking players who given the same decent level of instruction can perform reasonably well. What we don't have and haven't for a while is a focal point up front and even if we had, currently he'd probably be played at the back. Agree with most of this post Nick and yes if not for Ramsdale we would have been truly stuffed. I also agree with the post on the forum where the fans were questioned for the ridiculously over the top response when Bella-Kotchap came on. Most of the reason for him not playing was because he refused to? |
 | News Comment | Ivan Juric Got One Thing Right At The Weekend With Will Smallbone at 12:00:03
Firstly Nick although I mostly agree with this article, denigrating one player to defend another is counteractive. Tall Paul's performance is largely dictated by the players around him & thumping the ball from defence to his head for a flick on to nobody isn't much help! |

 | News Comment | Gavin Bazunu To Go Out On Loan To Regain Match Fitness at 10:07:07
it's a good idea, he is a very young keeper with lots of promise. However there are very many players with promise that never fulfil that promise. So a loan to get him match fit and also monitor his progress is a great plan, we all know there is little chance of Ramsdale playing in the championship, so in effect we have nothing to lose! |
 | News Comment | Southampton Midfielder Wants To Leave In The Summer at 10:02:55
If we could move him on in January I think that would be a good move, apart from losing the song 😂 £70,000 a week for a very one footed player is rather a lot, when you consider the wages of those around him, plus a very big wage for a championship club! He has shown up far more recently and perhaps we now know why? |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Manchester United The Verdict at 09:43:51
I have to agree with jesus_02 on this, our substitutes were nowhere near the level of who they replaced. Smallbone is technically a good player but was and never will be the player to replace Dibling. They were petrified of our pace and directness but that all changed with the subs and therein lies the problem. We have very few standout players in a massive squad and these few have no replacement at anywhere near their level. It seemed to me that Juric tried to hold onto the 1-0 with the initial subs which allowed Man Utd to push on further and then panicked a bit when they equalised. As for the last goal, we were 2-1 down with little time left, a 6' 7" striker up front and we decide to go all RM and play across our own box??? |
 | News Comment | Sulemana To Stay At Southampton ! Amo-Ameyaw To Go Out On Loan at 10:23:01
Lets be honest both choices here are a bit of a gamble. Sulemana has ability but perhaps lacks confidence and a winger in Martins set up is merely a foil for the wing back! RM liked to sign wingers and then turn them into workhorses for the wing back system he preferred. So whilst we could sell him now, at a big loss financially, holding onto him will not affect that side too much. If he begins to fulfil the promise he had on arrival then all is good but if not we still sell him at a big loss? Amo-Ameyew perhaps is lacking in a bit of physicality and probably should have gone out in the summer. He needs real games under his belt and to build the strength to succeed in the mens game. It's noticeable in Diblings game that he runs out of steam a bit after 60/70 minutes and he is physically much more developed than Amo. Give him some game time & next season with experience and more strength he will shine! |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Swansea City The Verdict at 09:24:58
No mention of Fernandes, who was by far our best player on the day? Although we all probably look for and see things differently. It was a win which as you said is in very short supply this season however there were again several simple errors at the back, that would more than likely be punished in the PL, which we need to work on. Lets be realistic Swansea were not terribly good but we have been in such poor form that, hopefully, the result will give us a sliver of confidence going forward. Lets get to the magical 12 points which will take a little more pressure off and then see where we go from there! COYR |
