Well I must have missed this if it was discussed on here, care to enlighten us as that sounds something serious and shouldn't be swept under the carpet. I'm hoping it's not Kolli because im still baffled why he wasn't used from the bench, he was our best attacking option from the bench and totally overlooked. |

Do you seriously think Smith could play at Championship level..... |
 | Forum Reply | Steve cook at 10:04 9 Mar 2026
It's a distinct possibility but if it's remotely true it was a very poorly negotiated contract, a player coming to the end of his career should not be given those options, it's a shame if true we could do with him starting and it wouldnt be a bad choice to give him another year BUT only on a significantly reduced wage. |

Great post I am absolutely baffled how anybody could possibly pick Kone out after yesterdays performance, he worked his socks off and put in a great shift again bearing in mind how little of the ball we had and the poor service he was given time and again, he was our MOM from a poor display. We said walking to the game is this the game where Kone gets his injury like all the rest, there's been no sensible squad rotation this season, a few months ago we had a fit squad and could of rested players but that option was not chosen, were now in a position where Kone has to start to give us any chance in a match, the injury to Madsen and the stupidity of sending Field out on loan has left us clutching at straws. PS ....The other main point about yesterday's game was the fitness of Boros team compared to ours, it was on another level, maybe if we sort that out we will start to compete better. Exactly Cifuentes was manoeuvred out the door because he didn't agree with Nourry, he had his own ideas and didn't want to be a puppet being told by other people in Nourrys team what to do, ultimately the Manager carries the responsibility for team performance how frustrating it must be when you have your hands tied behind your back. Always the argument that Cifuentes was looking for another job, well wouldn't you when you've fallen out so badly with your very young boss, at the last home game for Cifuentes he was asked by fans will you still be here next year, he replied I hope so that's not the reply of a man who wanted to leave but he knew it was inevitable as the owners had a choice Nourry or Cifuentes and bearing in mind Nourry is his Hoos man that was never an option. |

Well that's a good bit of publicity, bit more of that and let's get him sold to the highest bidder, take the money and move on. |
 | Forum Reply | Esquerdinha at 10:18 1 Mar 2026
Well this is true we should be aiming the frustration at the people in charge because Stephan should not have picked him at left back, he's out of his depth at Championship level, I said in the match thread before it started that team selection was crucial and we shouldn't just stick Esquerdinha in at left back because that's supposedly his position. I know we didn't have another left back etc but we could have played JCS on the left and used Edwards or Cook in the middle with Mbengue at right back. He has absolutely no positional sense when defending, sitting near the front of R block and watching it all unfold was painful, everybody who sits in our area said exactly the same thing. It's true it's not fair on the lad he needs to learn the game at a lower level but as somebody else said I'm not sure anyone else will take him. [Post edited 1 Mar 10:26]

Can't help feeling that team selection will be crucial today, Sheffield are a good team if we don't match them for work rate in midfield then it's game over, definitely would like to see a three man midfield but I can't help feeling that's a step too far for Stephan but you never know. We need to be solid at the back so it's not a game for Esquerdinha unfortunately unless he plays wing back, the options are limited, can we please at least give it 100% from the start, one of my biggest fears is it will be one game too many for Kone, leaving soon if I had to make a prediction it would not be good so I'm just keeping everything crossed. |
 | Forum Reply | 3 at the back with wing backs Saturday? at 13:27 26 Feb 2026
Suggested the same earlier on today on the Jimmy Dunne thread because it mentioned that RND is unavailable, considering Esquerdinha is vulnerable in his defensive duties we need to make ourselves solid at the back. Esquerdinhas best moments have been attacking, his best position currently is probably wing back, the formation gives us a chance to play three in midfield which would be very useful now Madsens unavailable, it will be a tough game but I still think with some smart team selection we can cause them problems. From what I've seen of Esquerdinha I actually think wing back is currently his strongest position so we could start with him in that position, he's quick and could cause the opposition some problems. [Post edited 26 Feb 10:48]

Considering all our injuries and the fact Esquerdinha has looked very vulnerable defensively would it not be worth going to three at the back with wing backs. We have two centre halves who can play out from the back and it could make us more solid defensively, that said I can't see Stephan changing his formation, if he sticks with a back four then we need an extra midfield player. Thanks for messaging the club as you say the official site works on the tablet but the APP just opens and then virtually immediately closes down, not enough testing done before release. |
 | Forum Reply | Field... at 11:28 25 Feb 2026
We did and whilst we have all these injuries we should be definitely considering reverting to a 3 man midfield of Hayden, Varane and Morgan I would prefer Field but he's not an option, what Morgan adds is a player who can get forward and help the attack whilst doing his midfield duties. |
 | Forum Reply | Field... at 09:20 25 Feb 2026
Exactly this the only explanation I had for picking Varane in front of Field is that we want to sell him and he won't increase his transfer value sitting on the bench. He should be the first to be sold and we shouldn't be precious about how much we are prepared to accept for him, if we get a decent profit then just take it and move on. |

Interesting the new APP updated on my phone without any problems, then I updated my tablet which is only approx 1 year old, it loaded fine, allowed me to sign in but whenever I load it now it opens and then shuts itself down, my question is has this been fully tested. |

That was superb Ale was great as the interviewer, so relaxed and natural, you could see the mutual respect for each other and we obviously just love Ale's passion for the club.... |

Yup I understand that but surely there's a possibility we could look at how Steve Gallen is working at Millwall and use that as an example, they are buying and selling players and appear to have got stronger each season, surely that shows it's possible to do both otherwise your just marking time and will never progress. |
 | Forum Reply | Blackburn Reflection at 10:07 16 Feb 2026
Excellent post Field is as good as Varane and should have been given some games alongside Madsen, he was made the sacrificial lamb after the Coventry debacle and then just used as a reserve left back which is obviously not his natural position. Well the Manager picks the team and for what ever reason Field was not seen as first choice, yes we know about his limitations but as a defensive midfield player he is very solid and adds a lot to the team. Hes adding to Norwichs strength in midfield which they were missing and they are looking stronger as a team, sadly he will feel that he's no longer wanted and that a move to the Norfolk countryside will be very appealing. |

We need a Director of Football, somebody with experience who can guide our young CEO, it doesnt have to be an expensive appointment it could even be on a part time basis, we're looking for a man who knows how to get a team promoted and NO I think the option of asking Sharon's permission has long gone..... |

Thanks some interesting details, the more you read the more complicated it becomes because going on people's comments on here he wasn't going to achieve Championship level and then whose to say how long a career he could have achieved, there's quality players all over the league suffering injuries that are potential career ending. The facts posted so far point to the fact he was racially abused at Crawley, it's all down to how responsible are QPR for the player once he's accepted the loan and what people like Chris Ramsey told him at the time. |
