India Air Crash
at 18:48 13 Jun 2025

The Boeing 787 has multiple electronic systems (not paper) that remind the pilots about the take-off and landing checklists. The cockpit would have been sounding off with all sorts of alarms if the had forgotten the basics of extending the flaps. It’s why Boeing hasn’t lost a whole 787 since production.
I suspect the Capt asked the FO to lift the landing gear and he accidentally engaged the flaps - a catastrophic mistake. The plane was at its heaviest and wasn’t recoverable as they lost the ability to lift the aircraft.
A clue is the survivor talks of huge bang before impact and that may well be the stress on the flaps. You can clearly see the gear was never retracted-which normally happens at 50-75 metres.

The QPR summer managers rumours thread
at 09:51 12 Jun 2025

There is too much emphasis on formations. At the end of the day football is about the quality of players you have. In our case we haven’t had a god enough squad (for sometime) with enough decent footballers both technical and physical.
Marti showed the ability to squeeze more than the sum of the parts out of the squad he had. If the players aren’t up to it a good coach has to find a way to get the best out of what he has.
Our recruitment has been rank bottom and yet here we are with another season looming and the squad is toilet stuff.
If it’s going to work at R’s at least give the new guy a decent squad, keep them fit and give him a strong bench. None of that is likely to happen so it will be rinse and repeat next season. It’s all so obvious.

Not exactly a glowing endorsement. He was good at building a team up and moving players on but injuries caught up and he couldn’t sustain the form. This won’t last until Xmas.

Would love to see Hayden return. I thought he was stand-out when he was with us.

Overweight....
at 10:37 5 Jun 2025

5ft 11 tall and 15 and half stone after Xmas. I am 64. I was embarrassed and shocked. Upset as well as I had major surgery and treatment for stage 3 bowel cancer in September 22.

I took the plunge and started a course of Monjouro in February. Today I am 13st - 2lb. You have to exercise as well but the difference in my well-being is transformational. I have not had any side effects.

I am aiming to get to 12st - 6 and then I will stop and try to maintain that weight. Generally it is accepted that once you stop the medication you will put on some minimal weight but I will cross that bridge once I am there.

Sounds as though Marti was right to call it out. It would be interesting to discover who made this decision to have him return.

Did the same with AC/DC Powerage recently. Monster album. Riff Raff is off the scale.

Nourry on new H&F board
at 10:58 10 May 2025

Interesting option but there’s nothing in that from an investment perspective. If the Board want to just focus on a “half-way house” refurbishment option, I can definitely see that as a good option.

Given the myriad of possible investment options presenting themselves on the LCS and OOC sites that is an opportunity too good to miss - in my opinion and experience.

One option gives us a quick short-term upgrade whilst the other provides a huge opportunity to take the club upwards with a state of the art modern stadium with associated infrastructure and the opportunity to invest in a huge development opportunity that dwarfs anything going on in White City.
The associated investment gains on the second option would fund the club way beyond anything happening today where the owners have to find £2M a month to finance the club.

Nourry on new H&F board
at 16:37 9 May 2025

Spent most of my corporate career in global real estate investment and planning. This is a serious step by the Board and I suspect we have a seat at the table. That’s a first and most important step in the RE game.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the LCS is back on the agenda. If I recall there was a recent sports investment of £200K. That wouldn’t have touched the surface on the infrastructure improvements needed at that facility.
We now have HS2 terminating in London so OAC now becomes a very attractive investment and development opportunity.
The opportunity is now there if the above is a realistic possibility-which I think it is. Will be interesting to see if the LCS is quickly back on the agenda when Nourry is present at one of these meetings - if they share the minutes.
I have no doubt the Board have probably presented some serious financial credentials to get a seat.

Thanks for all the massive effort and mileage you put in over a season to make theses match reports happen.
I don’t go to that many games and I always find your reports honest and so well written. You do a brilliant job!

Are you a journalist/blogger?
Like many on here I generally sit up and take note when Clive gives his opinion and insights on the club and matters behind the scenes.
The reason I say that is he is generally bang-on the money and he is a respected journalist.
So, stop hiding behind your keyboard and share your credentials, so we can judge whether you are a Nourry bot or a genuine fan with some solid insight.
It’s that simple.

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels

I doubt it very much that the legal eagles made this decision. As CEO, Nourry must have sanctioned the approach and then approved it. It’s on him 100%.

Where on his CV does it state that he had a senior leadership role dealing with a complex multi-layered organisation?

As always Clive - on point and reflects how a lot of the fanbase feel right now. I was fortunate to be able to watch that amazing 75/76 team under Sexton. I’m in my 60’s now and just feel so divorced from the club and how it’s being run.
I recall being at Coventry on the last day of last season and came away thinking the club have a special coaching talent and can we take care of him? The answer is no and I suspect whoever comes through the revolving door will be treated in a similar way.
What’s more worrying and your spot-on in calling it out,is do we trust this moronic leadership to get it right? I think not.
And the balls of the club to post season-ticket renewals this morning-you really couldn’t make this shit up if you tried.
I wish Marti well.

Just absolutely fecking mental. This club is a shambles and being run by a moronic bunch who are so far removed from the fan-base it’s hard to put into words.
I really can’t wait to hear how they are going to describe this utter shitshow or will they try and ride the summer out?
Thanks to Marti we have avoided relegation the past two seasons but you just know L1 is incoming with this clueless mob in charge.

Sky Sports Breaking News
at 22:59 27 Apr 2025

About a year ago almost 4,000 of us travelled to Coventry to pay homage to Marti for the job he had done. We also won 2-0 on that day. I came away thinking we might just have a special talent on our hands and can we take care of him.
He’s had some incredible challenges this season and perhaps he should have shown some restraint in publicly expressing his concerns about the behind the scenes issues.
Having said that how on earth have the club allowed this to escalate to the point where the best coach we’ve had for some time is going to walk out the door?
Our main problem is actually finding out what the feck has happened but given how Nourry doesn’t communicate that is going to be difficult.
I hope Clive and his like-minded Rs journalists can get stuck in because if this implodes next season is going to be vile and toxic.
I’m genuinely fed up with arse-holes fecking this club up.

Dunne in The Sun – Preview
at 10:42 26 Apr 2025

As always you are spot-on. Brilliant article. I’d love for Dunne to stay but given his form he has surely had offers from other clubs that will make him financially comfortable and who would begrudge him that kind of move?
Surely, Nourry also knows that if you allow him to move that relegation door gets closer. My family are attending the game and they are planning to get right behind Marti.

Marti, stick or twist?
at 10:44 24 Apr 2025

Without Marti we’d be sitting in L1. His overall impact on the club has been enormous from transforming a squad of players that weren’t performing last season and getting us through this recent injury debacle to stay in the Championship.
The Board, particularly Ruben are not stupid. I’d like to think our esteemed and arrogant CEO is getting some heavy feedback on his handling of Marti. Who knows but maybe Nourry is feeling some real heat from the owners on this.
We’ve literally been selling the place out week after week despite the ongoing behind the scenes shambles. I can’t believe Ruben would jeopardise that enormous goodwill and financial backing.

Do Saints really need Ronnie Edwards?
at 21:26 20 Apr 2025

True story- I came across Adam Lallana this morning in a coffee shop in Canford Cliffs. He was with his family so didn’t bother him too much.
I mentioned Ronnie and said he’s been tremendous for the Rs. He an acknowledged me but I got the impression Ronnie isn’t quite on their radar. Then again would he really be bothered by a 60 plus year old asking him about one of their players?
