You are right in that we are so dependent on these Tech oligarchs, but they need to be controlled. They have too much power and I am sure most counties would not want to have a bunch of rich oligarchs run their country.
You only have to look at some of the crazy decisions Musk (unelected) and Robert Kennedy have done in the 1st 100 days. [Post edited 30 Apr 9:28]

Rishi may not be wealthy enough to take control of Saints (albeit his wife is worth around £600m and a minor shareholder in Infosys) Her father is still a major shareholder in Infosys, so it is possible but very unlikely. |

I can't say I have really seen enough of him to decide if he is going to come good.
With his injury and being thrown into a team that has really underperformed it's difficult to establish how good he is. I hope he stays fit and gets game time ahead of new season to show why we paid around £9m for him.
We have got this far, we might as well see it through now with Stewart, to give us options. However, we do still need a new forward. |

it was a light hearted comment. I would be surprised if any Catholics on this forum would take offence ?
If they did, I think there are more offensive things that have taken place over the years by some of the Catholic hierarchy which they still fail to acknowledge and deal with, but that's a whole new debate. [Post edited 26 Apr 11:46]

Many of these are either crocked or not getting a game at loan clubs. They are the same players that didn't' perform when they got a chance.
Shay Charles is probably the only one I would give another chance, but even he was inconsistent.
Time for a wholesale clear out. |

When I saw the. line up with back 3 CB's I had same thoughts as most on here.
However, the team put a good shift in and were trying. As game went on I always thought there was a chance we could get one back. West Ham were poor, and got booed at the end as well.
The West Ham support was poorest I have ever seen. The only time they made a noise was when the bubble machine went off at the start of each half, and when they scored. I know it's cheesy singing, 'is this a library' , but it really was!
There was quite a few Dutch visitors near me ? How did they get tickets when this was sold out to Saints fans ?
JWP got a good reception when he was subbed late on. As for ground, it was absolutely soulless, although the toilets were good :) [Post edited 19 Apr 19:00]

My first visit today to the new West Ham stadium. I hear all sorts of problems getting in/out so hope that goes ok.

My Father was in the forces and was based in Bergen-Hohne garrison for a few years. As a young lad I remember visiting Belsen a few times and going to school in Hohne there for 2 years.
This is where the British established a large military base after the liberation of Belsen.
As a youngster, we were always told that birds never flew over Belsen because of the atrocities there. Whilst it is quiet, it is a unfounded myth.
1885, the there are a number of BFBS sites that have a lot of history on this. |

What a final round, with so many ups and downs. It showed what pressure can do, and Rory mentioned that nerves got the better of him, after being 5 up.

Some good points here. He is a good player and does give 100%, but I agree his defending is questionable. He would probably be more suited to a midfield role.
Yesterday he got muscled off the ball a few times which exposed us.
I was also surprised he stayed this year, and nobody would have blamed him if he left, especially as he stayed for the year in championship. It suggests the offers didn't come flooding in.
it's possible he really was chasing a big pay day, which didn't arrive so next option was to wind down contract. [Post edited 13 Apr 15:32]

Whilst we will always be grateful for his goal and assist in play-offs, the reality is he is just not good enough even at Championship level, especially over 46 games.
This is time for Saints to move on and rebuild, and get rid of a lot of the average players we have on the books. |

First half we looked tight and closed them down. We didn't create much and villa had much of the play but weren't really hurting us.
The Villa substitutions made all the difference. Once Watkins and Marlon came on they were very dangerous. As for our substitutions, they offered very little. Smallbone drifted around aimlessly in the middle, leaving massive gap for lead ups o 2nd goal, Dibling looked ok today and was obviously told to get his steps in today !
Fernandes put a real shift in. There was certainly more effort today, but Villa were just too good on the day. |

He gave away a needless penalty (not for first time) and then doesn't follow up after Ramsdale saved penalty. He had some good moments, but looked like a rabbit in headlights when Malen came. [Post edited 12 Apr 17:07]

Ideally we want to keep him to give us the best chance of getting back up.
If that doesn't happen, I don't see any benefit to Saints by loaning him to Goztepe. If we sold him at least we would have funds to enhance Saints.
I very much doubt Goztepe would pay the going loan fee/rate, in which case we lose a talented player and don't and get the funds he would provide to replace/loan. [Post edited 11 Apr 12:23]

I think China also holds the upper hand in this stand off ? They hold trillions in US Treasury bonds.
If they start selling all hell will break out. It would hurt them as well, but would re-inforce message that US can no longer be relied on. Interest rates would definitely go up, no matter how much Trump rants at the US FED reserve
Just had a quick look at Dow and Nasdaq - opened down again. This affects most of us, with defined contribution pensions/ Money purchase schemes, especially those nearing draw down.
For some it might be just the excuse needed not renew Season ticket ! (only joking , we need all the support we can get).

It has finally dawned on him that global US tariffs will not work. Yesterday he nearly had a similar moment to Liz Truss where the Bond market started to tank. Many countries, including Japan were selling US bonds, which were supposed to be a safe haven. The world can no longer depend on US.
I was surprised that Howard Lutnik (who was CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald and loaded !) didn't advise against tanking the Bond market, which would have increased interest rates, US liquidity in Bond market to service debt and increase inflation. These are not actions that would deliver Trumps promise to reduce costs on day 1 as he promised. He can't even sort the supply of eggs in US.
Trump thinks he is a financial guru, but really doesn't have a clue how markets function.
I did laugh at his Cabinet and that weird communications advisor, Karoline Leavitt, where they tried to spin Trump's ignorance, saying it was all part of the plan.
This may all settle down, but there will be long term impact to US relations, especially with Canada and, Europe and Mexico. [Post edited 10 Apr 9:47]
