Players that we loan out cannot get into Championship sides. Both Adam Armstrong & Bereton Diaz are named as substitutes today. That just about sums up how poor our squad is this season. |

I'd take Chris Wilder if he was available which he won't be because Sheffield United will get promoted & take our place in Premier lge. But I personally think he'd be a great choice for our club. He tends to go under the Radar but is a great motivator & capable of improving players. He's also got a connection to our club having started his playing career with our youth team. There's no comparison between Brooks & Dibling. David Brooks is proven at Premier lge level. He'd have played a lot more games if it hadn't been for his very serious illness, he's done brilliant to recover from that. Dibling has proved nothing yet apart from the fact that he's got a dubious attitude. He'll have to change his attitude to make a top player. I know which one I'd rather have in my team. |

Not sure Lawrie was our greatest manager but he certainly gave us some of our greatest moments. Lawrie's strengths were bringing in proven, experienced players & just letting them express themselves. There's a lesson to be learnt there SR. [Post edited 17 Apr 21:13]

It's all if's & but's. We are where we are because of many reasons but the main one being very poor decisions & leadership from the top. They just cannot afford to get it wrong this time with the appointment of a new manager ( coach). But regardless of who the new man (or person) is they'll have one he'll of a job to save a sinking ship. But we live in hope. One thing is for sure we'll all still doing our bit to support the club long after they've gone. [Post edited 17 Apr 10:05]

All players value drops when they are playing in Championship. So considering that, the asset value of our club has been hit big time. Alright we might get more for Fernández than we paid for him but he would be worth an awful lot more if playing in Premier lge. |

Don't panic, it's a loan. But we'll never know if he's better than what we have because he's not been given enough game time. He wouldn't want to stay after what he's experienced here. |

There's only one Jamie Caragher. Thank God. |

We signed Albert Groenbaek in January on loan. He's only played a few minutes whats the problem with him. Is he injured or was he just another rubbish signing. |

That tedious style of football is not the only thing that is killing the game. 1) Players & Managers (coaches) all being given ridiculously long contracts as well as receiving absurd salaries. 2) VAR. 3) Too many substitutions 4) Theatrical cheating by players. 5) Stoppages 6) Fouls given for minimal contact. 7) Tantrums & involvement of coaches / assistants during match. 8) Hours of analysis by Carragher, Neville & others. Apart from all that the game is fine . |

Steve Cooper. Not for me I'm afraid. History tells us that SR will choose some unknown from a lower lge. |

I'm going to chuck a spanner in the works. All this hype about KWP being so good, I just don't get it. Yes he's good on the ball & gets forward well BUT he just cannot defend. So many goals are conceded down his side & at the back post that he should be defending. He's constantly out of position, mainly because of his forays forward. But when he gets forward he's guilty of giving the ball away which then means he's out of position & we don't have mobile defenders to cover for him. He was guilty for two of Villa's goals because he gave the ball away. It is no coincidence that KWP is still with us when he could have gone in previous transfer windows, no one was prepared to pay for him. He'll obviously go in the summer because he's a free agent. I know most of you will disagree with me on this one but the forum is all about opinions. |
 | Forum Thread | Forget bouncing straight back to Premier. at 22:52 12 Apr 2025
I hope I'm wrong but I just cannot see us bouncing straight back up next season. The spirit of our Saints has gone, under the current ownership our club has lost its heart & identity. There is definitely something wrong at the club at the moment & it starts at the top. Our owners have split allegiance, they have interest in too many clubs. We need owners that solely dedicate there funds & effort into our club. I hope I'm wrong but next season could be very frustrating unless something radically changes. |

Like the original post. Check out the lyrics to Fleetwood Mac song " Tusk". Replace "Tusk" with "Rusk". Very fitting. [Post edited 12 Apr 16:13]

Good to see that Simon Rusk has the bottle to include Jay Robinson in today's squad. He looks the best of our Academy players. Not sure about bringing Slack Jack back. |

High intensity is not necessarily the same as high press. High intensity is putting the opposition under pressure all over the pitch. High press is all about closing down the opposition in their own half. High intensity also means winning second balls. We've not been very good at either this season, hence our league position. |

That's a good point. Look at the number of good players signed by the big clubs that just can't get regular game time, the squads are so big most end up as bench warmers or worse. Just one example is Dewesbury Hall signed by Chelsea from Leicester & he's cannot get game time at Chelsea. You could make a dozen good teams out of big club bench warmers. |

I agree with the previous post's about Multi Club ownership. It should not be allowed. There is definitely a conflict of interest. SR should only be focused on success with one club. How many players have we purchased & never seen them because they are loaned straight out to another club under the same ownership. We will never recover our credibility whilst SR insist on the ludicrous multi club ownership. |
 | Forum Reply | Saints Set To Offload Striker In the Summer at 12:19 9 Apr 2025
I just don't understand all the criticism that is aimed at Tall Paul. I totally agree with Grumps on this one. TP has his limitations but he is by far the biggest threat we have going forward, he does score goals & he is capable of holding the ball up & bringing others into the game. We should keep him, he'll prove a real handful for defenders in Championship. Get rid of Ross Stewart ( if we can) & also let Armstrong & Archer go. Let's see some kids from the Academy get a chance. But history tells us that SR will get it all wrong. |
 | Forum Reply | Adam Armstrong's record at West Brom at 12:10 9 Apr 2025
He's been dragged off in 2nd half of most games with WBA. Last Saturday he had the lowest rating of players on pitch. I am another who never rated him, he reminded me of a schoolboy footballer who gets the ball runs like stink in a straight line & nevers looks up. I know he scored plenty for us last season & we are grateful of that. Will he be with us next season only time will tell, I just like to think we can do better but strikers cost a lot & SR's track record of signing players is embarrassing. |
