I am sure there's a certain satisfaction that the first club to release him as a teenager are now paying £68m to get him back!

Steve Bould
at 14:17 25 Jun 2025

Steve Bould would be an excellent addition to the club have to say.

It is difficult as, as many of us have made it clear, Nourry really rubs me up the wrong way with the mini dictator appearance and trickling and hiding of information BUT it does seem like he has a genuine plan for the club. A lot of it is PR but I can't recall the club appearing to have a concrete plan like this during my thirty odd years of being a fan - and it could all fall down spectacularly but it does seem promising.

I was a huge fan of Cifuentes and it will be a long time before I let that one go from my grudges but I am actually tentatively excited about the club today.

Indian attack is so gettable at for England bar Bumrah who is a generational fast bowler. It has been a long time since someone had the aura he has around him. Really good article by Steven Finn on BBC Sport arguing he is the most complete fast bowler of all time - those comparisons are impossible to make but he's the best I have seen.

If I was a footballer I'd genuinely not sign for a club if I had to wear that Reading shirt.

I don't know why but I am excited by this one.

Let's hope he can play at 8!

I am all for this tactic of bringing in talented youngsters from abroad. Reminds me of when I used to play footy manager and my reserve squad was always full to the brim with random kids from various youth set-ups. Full on puppy farm.

Saw Wrexham after Lewis Travis (well, I read the gossip bit on the BBC app) from Blackburn. Surprised he'd be available for 1.5m as gossip quoted as always looks a decent player.

John Swift released by WBA too on that page - god I hope he doesn't sign for a club we dislike and get another hat-trick against us. Not noticed him as much at WBA.

The whole hockey article take on negative cultures could be written about Man Utd for the last five years.

You love to see it.

Club World Cup….

I used to enjoy it when it was just the continental champions - watching Utd play legendary sides like Vasco da Gama and the like.

This new monstrosity seems as rotten as it gets!

It's a gripping watch but I get more and more worried about the future of test cricket. It remains the form of the game I am most interested in but it is so hard to compete with the cheaper (imo) thrills of t20 which has managed to make 6 hitting dull to me.

Test cricket is just not a sport players can get themselves ready for in a couple of weeks - particularly on the batting side. Saw the BBC quote a Windies central contract for a top player was about £200k a year but they're earning £1m plus for having a bit of a swing in the IPL at a minimum.

I work by myself but good lord I'd be looking for the nearest exit if my boss used the words "latest recompense for our staff who have so enthusiastically embraced..." about overstocking a minor part of the business. Patronising and idiotic at the same time - impressive in its own way.

Old sayings that are either still very apt today or just plain daft
at 10:16 12 Jun 2025

Not sure it qualifies but the look of sheer disbelief my American SO gave me when I first referred to something being much of a muchness was a sight to behold.

Quite a few British sayings have left them flabbergasted.

Blood Donors
at 13:46 10 Jun 2025

I have given a few times now - due to give next week. I live in a town of about 45000 people though and still have to drive two towns over. They could make it a lot easier to give outside of major cities I find.

I do like the feature where you get a text when it's been used saying where - my bloods been all over the country.

Overweight....
at 07:28 5 Jun 2025

I've always just gone by the have a waist measurement that is less than half your height - as 5 foot 9 bloke i.e 9 inches tall I wear 32 inch jeans which is all enough for me.

I also judge it on how I feel in my body and what it can do. BMI always seems a very limited metric in my view as it doesn't differentiate between fat and muscle mass. I'm about 13 1/2 stone which is a chunk into the overweight category but I have had my fitness levels at being able to comfortably run a half marathon at a decent pace for years now - live in a hilly part of the world so half my muscle is all on my legs which must weight a fair whack by themselves!

He was useless.

Went to Crawley a few times when he was there as local league team and friends support but didn't get the chance to boo him as he was of course always injured.

The big sell on the stadium and it being rooted in the community that has grown and changed around it could easily be read as a nod to the much predicted redevelopment of the ground.

Can easily get sucked into reading into every line but I have been bored to death in enough comms meetings in my life to know how much thought goes into the script and copy for things like this.
