Head of Set Pieces role

I’m fine with a personal qualities section but:

“Is receptive to feedback about own behaviour
Displays a high level of confidentiality
Loyal and Committed”

…it does rather give a window into his character. It is like he is hiring for a personal cult.

It’s not just that. Have you read the “Essential” Personal Qualities?!

Right arm around the wicket? Back in the day you would never get that from an umpire. Times have changed today, and I agree that it was close but there will always be doubt with a right arm bowler around the wicket. If it hits in line in could easily be sliding down, if it is definitely hitting, it must have hit outside the line unless back foot.

Hollman got away with a very good shout as well. But then Kent and DBD escaped several very close lbw calls yesterday. Middx also had a set batsman injured in that chase that impacted things.

The luck evened itself out over the game and Middx won.

“I’m going nowhere. You won’t hound me out.”

Are we talking about this MB or the club here?

If the latter, it may be hard to, if you get your way with your desired change at shareholder level.

Well, given he might be our main shareholder at some point, representing a load of American money, I’ve no doubt he wants QPR to do well. What is “the best for QPR” is up for debate, mind.

Oh, and CharlieB, what’s your view on Americans? Preferable to Malaysians?

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread

Yes, I understand the point about consistency and the manager or head coach not just saying his lads from a previous gig.

But I still think it’s pretty important for the a) the bloke who’s going to coach them on the training field, pick the side, and be accountable for results to have input in to who we sign, and b) that someone who has experience of coaching in the game has input. Having Belk and Nourry make the signings solo is a concern, IMO.

You could argue Betsy and Calm might be having input re. points b, but until we hire Cifuentes’ replacement, we don’t have a solution for point a.

Have you read his bio? Sacked after a few months by Crawley Town. Part of the disastrous first team coaching staff under Toure that lasted 7 weeks at Wigan. Nothing in his CV indicates he’s qualified for the job. He would be the ultimate puppet/yes man.

Good lads. Have some boll*cks and pride about you. They took note of the conga, so should the first team.

There is no way that whole thing has been penned by a professional journalist. Did Christian only do English to GCSE?

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels

Thank you, Clive. Felt that was a little restrained. Probably wise.

Is that just the market and bookies adjusting to our announcement?

If it’s a done deal, hold onto him in his role and negotiate the comp. How does garden leave help? It feels like a meltdown, a power play, a short sighted emotional decision. Unless, of course, Cifuentes resigned and they had to put him on garden leave whilst they thrashed out the comp before his notice expires and he can work elsewhere anyway.

But this sounds like the party line, doesn’t it? How does putting him on gardening leave - telling the world you don’t want him and preventing us hiring a new HC in the interim - give us any leverage in negotiations on compensation.

If we want the compensation, pretend everything is hunky dory, carry on, hold your nerve, and wait for their proposal.

And also taking what suits your preconception from those you criticise and ignoring the rest as nonsense. A boxing historian if ever there was one. “I don’t like all the ITK stuff you say, but that bit suits my agenda, so we’ll add that to my argument but ignore the rest.”

As many of us have kept saying, Cifuentes is no angel. On Nourry, you simply don’t want to know/listen though. You’re entrenched. If that’s where you want to be, that’s up to you. But what others are saying is not “errant nonsense”. It’s from first and second hand accounts of the fella, feedback from those closer, and quite easy piecing together of his background, including interviews and quotes he’s given. Ignore if you want. Ignore at your peril, but then I would say that.

Far from it. Nourry’s behaviour got us to this point, and his bad decision making will cost us money as he’s removed whatever leverage we had.

But we could have held on and got some comp.

If we end up sacking him, because no one comes in for him - and of course they won’t now, they’ll just wait - we’ll have to pay Cifuentes off.

All the while he is on garden leave we cannot legally replace him so we’ve snookered ourselves a bit.

Who is going to be involved from the football side of the club on all our summer recruitment activity? We’ve been told the HC is actively involved? Oh…wait…

The last paragraph is key. The club are stupid for creating that risk plus having to pay Cifuentes off, when they could have just bitten their tongue until WBA or someone else offered some comp. Looks like we have blinked first. Either that or Hoos/Nourry have spat the dummy out.

I wonder if the players knew this was coming before Saturday’s showing? Might explain the “effort levels” if they knew he was no longer going to be their HC and none of them know their futures.
