I think Madsen might turn it around because he is intelligent. To make it at the top level you need intelligence, either a natural intelligence of the game or a learned intelligence. It's a defining factor. I won't go into the players who I don't think are going to get there, but I can see Madsen becoming a round peg in a round hole. |

Who by ? The clubs who spend millions on players - millions which we don't have. I'd rather be 'tin pot' |

Good win, and a good season overall. Mid-table finish and the Devt Squad into a Cup final. Progress |

One further point about last night. The ref was equally sh*t as any Championship ref. Midway through the first half there was a bit of niggle between Kieran Morgan and one of their players. It was a heated jostle. But Daniel Bennie came steaming in and went for the perpetrator with both hands (close to the neck). Even with blue and white glasses on, he should have been booked. Nothing given. Maybe the refs are a bit more lenient at U21 level ? |

He definitely looked like he will have the presence in all areas to play in the 1st team in the future but the quicker speed of everything in the 1st team looks like it could be a problem just for the moment. |

Yes, I think Esquardinha looks like he has got what it takes. I thought he was fine defensively. In fact, I thought he looked like he could easily have moved to centre back when one of the centre backs got cramp with 5 to go. He looked pretty comfortable all over the pitch to me. The other full back was good going forward also. |

Warburton would bring stability but I don't think we would progress with him. We need a young (European) manager who understands the way football is going. We need to get some of the names touted out of our heads. They wouldn't have the goalkeeper playing the ball out from outside the penalty area, a 6 ft 2 right back winning headers from goal kicks in the opposition half, three 5 ft 6 attacking midfielders getting past 6 ft defenders. These are the types of innovations we need to be looking at. |

Indeed, WTF is going on ? No entiendo So we have put him on gardening leave for going for a job which he is not in the frame for ? You couldn't make it up. F*cking clowns. |

Yeah but surely you let him stay in charge for the last game ? Let him clear his desk. For goodness sake. |

Why would we axe him ? It makes no sense. Losing the compensation .... |

I agree with you Francis Bowles. I have been critical of Colback this season but I have been impressed with his application in recent weeks (not sure how much that has to do with his contract coming to an end). Had it not been for him, Varane and 3 of the back four we would have been absolutely annihialated on Saturday. I dread to think where we will be next season with the manager gone and if we have the likes of impostors such as Madsen, Ashby and Celar in our midst. [Post edited 28 Apr 13:12]

Yeah Varane was OK. I thought Colback was OK as well. Without him we would have absolutely crumbled. Always interesting to look at the body language in the lap of appreciation after the last game. Varane cares. He was apologising to the fans in person. |

In amongst all the dross yesterday I thought Emerson Sutton came on and did well. I know people will say that the bar was low but he came on when we were struggling badly and did well on the right, getting a few crosses in and then nearly getting into a one-on-one with their keeper. Will be interesting to see if he bulks up and adds the horsepower that he will need to make if at this level. [Post edited 27 Apr 8:29]

The scenario for next season is all about Nourry. It's he that needs to get the sub-standard players and dead wood out. Go into next season with our contracted players and we will go down. All about Nourry. Not Marti. |

Feel sorry for him. Having to start with Madsen, Ashby and Dembele as your 3 AM's is always going to mean that Burnley are going to able to push on. Should have started Chair and Frey. If they can only do 45 - 60 get them on from the start and bring them off in due course. |

If we have those options it is not the end of the world for me - it partly depends on who we have as the attacking midfielders as the analysis has indicated that goals will also be required to come from other areas. |

I guess it's good therefore that at least he is conjecturing, If he answered 'let's see what happens over the summer' then there would be more cause for concern. F*ck me, this is getting hard to decypher. I thought Ukraine Russia was difficult to fathom .... |
