Went to bed with Oz 6 down still 18 runs behind. Woke up with them only 7 down and 134 ahead.

Six of our batsmen got 16 or less, none of theirs have.

Our bowling attack (?) is one of the most impotent I’ve seen us send down there.

Rangers v Wrexham 1979
at 12:21 6 Jan 2026

Watched this the other day.we had some talent in that team. Bowles and Currie playing together.

Allen and Goddard up front.

Fast forward to today and we’ve still got a terrible pitch and Wrexham are above us in the league.

Our Pitch

The one thing I don’t understand is how come Chelsea used to have a pitch which was just as bad as ours when their ground probably got more sunlight than any other ground in the country due to the stands being so far away from the pitch. Their ground is enclosed like ours now so presumably getting a lot less sunlight, yet their pitch is perfect.

thoughts on west ham in t'cup

Sadly my only hope is we keep it below the 6-1 we beat them by in 1978 in the cup. Had a friend at school who was a West Ham fan, for the next few weeks whenever he said any sentence with the word ‘one’ in, I would interrupt and say ‘no, six-one’.

I was listening to Boom light a while back (love the old crooners) and couldn’t believe when they played ‘the pied piper’ by steve race.

Wonder what odds you would have got on a uk radio station in 2025 playing the music rangers players used to run out to back in the seventies. Must have been an R compiling the playlist that day.

Baggie ball bags - Match Thread

Didn’t see the game but was listening to it on bbc radio London. Steve Morrison, ex-millwall, was co-commentator. From early on he had us sussed, said we couldn’t defend set pieces, was pointing out which of their players were unmarked, predicted the second goal before it happened.

He was NOT impressed with Kone.

So disappointing but also so ball-achingly predictable. West Brom on a poor run and we don’t have a single shot on target.

Had to laugh when I saw the score this morning, went to bed with Oz 6 down for 90 odd, I thought finally England have turned up. At the back of my mind I was thinking, hang on, wait til we bat on this pitch, lo and behold all out for 110, our top 4 contributing a grand total of 8 runs between them. 8 batsmen scoring 5 runs or less, you wouldn’t think that was possible at this level.

Stayed up hoping for a miracle. The tail wagged a bit, carse, jacks and smith scored more combined than Crawley, Duckett. Pope and Root did. No heroics from archer this time,

82 run defeat.

Only 2 Aussie batsmen scored less than 10 runs, we’ve matched that already.

Not surprising is it? Whenever we play anyone decent this is usually what happens. Keep thinking West Ham are going to avenge our 6-1 defeat of them in the FA cup.

Getting 2006-7 vibes, at least that was a decent oz team, this isn’t even their first choice attack, no Lyon, no Hazlewood, no Cummings.

Need to send them all home in a pedalo.

Just listened to aggers, apparently a third of their runs were scored in the third man region, which says we’re bowling too wide, only 5% of our deliveries would have hit the stumps.
If root had been caught by smith early yesterday game would be over already.
7 of our batters scored less than 20, none of theirs have (assuming Neser gets another 5).
