The QPR summer managers rumours thread
at 05:13 6 May 2025

I like what you say, it makes sense and now the season is finished it is the time for talking. But that Nourry has gone as far as he has with the gardening leave and spreading his bile in the media and on this forum doesn't give me much hope that Nourry will work with Marti again.

Those 3 were the ones I preferred to go down from the 7 at risk there at the end.

If he is completely recovered from his plantar fascia rupture and is fully fit, plus the cost is reasonable, I'll be happy if he stays another year.

We shouldn't sell Madsen now. If we did his technical ability is such that we'd get whatever we paid back for him imo, perhaps more. But as long as he continues his recent form into next season he will be a valuable player for us on the park and quite likely we'll turn a profit on him if we wanted to later on.

I thought Madsen and Colback did well in that inverted LB position. The stats on Sky back that up in regard to their passing accuracy, and more regarding Madsen. Betsy had good words for both after the game.

Always thought Madsen was a good player and he has proved that these last games of the season. He should be a key player for us next season if he remains injury/other problem free.

Isn't MC's official position "Head Coach"? My understanding is that the Club can not employ another Head Coach while Marti is still under contract with us. Think we need to be careful employing anyone who essentially does MC's job while he he is still with us. Nourry really has put us in a huge mess.

I started going to QPR in 1975 too, 50 years now! It's gone downhill mostly from a great beginning, but it's inside me. Nothing is going to change that. Not lived in the UK since 1982, the last game I saw live was our win over Bristol City, the last game of the 2015/16 season, followed by some beers in the Crown. Now I'm restricted to watching all the League games on QPR+. But one fine day I'll get back, just maybe early next season.

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels
at 16:26 30 Apr 2025

What Club is going to pay much compensation, if any, when they know QPR want him gone? Sounds more like the Club will end up paying him off to me. It is really bad decision making to (1) want to get rid of a good and popular Manager, and (2) to go about that bad decision by putting him on gardening leave / informing any interested Clubs you want him out rather than being patient, wait for Clubs to come in and have to pay us compensation. Or there never was any buy-out comp., another big mistake if so.

My understanding is that this is embedded in UK employment law. The WLS article has more info as does a UK Gov link at the bottom of the 1st page of this thread. Possibly there is a work around, but the Club would need to be very careful and my trust that would be done right is diminishing by the hour.

Yes, Nourry should be fired immediately. I've not been impressed by him but haven't criticised him so much until now because so much has been conjecture with really only his rejection of open communication with Fans a clear negative. To effectively fire a good and popular Manager, the best we've had since Warburton imo, and also do it in this way making receipt of any substantial compensation from the Club that employs him unlikely is idiotic. The scenario WLS describe of a potential gridlock where we cannot employ a new Head Coach and MC cannot move on to another Club is liable to totally f*ck our summer and potentially next season. Hope those Marti In / Nourry out banners are on the way to Sunderland.

I can't see any Club paying much compensation if any when we have put him on gardening leave.

There is a lot of speculation on here. It is just speculation that Marti thinks Nourry is a "c nut" as you put it. The only issue that Marti has raised publicly that I've heard him say, was about the huge number of soft tissue injuries this season which he wants the Club to look into. My speculation for what's worth: I'm not convinced that Nourry is sitting there so comfortably as you suggest. Marti is very popular with the support, rightly so imo. Nourry is not and if he moves Marti out he's not getting more popular. Perhaps more importantly, this idea that one young bloke can be both CEO and DoF was likely something they (Hoos maybe) came up with initially as a way of cutting cost when we were in a very tight FFP situation. This is not quite so acute now and the Owners may want to revisit that decision.
