Ferland Mendy forever in the all time "what if" QPR team

"Real Madrid bought him for millions, and we were looking to sign him for less than £200,000 when he was at Le Havre. We didn't sign him because we thought better players were coming through, like Cole Kpekwa."

Taylor Richards finally going?

Good post. Unlike any physical injury, I don't think it's something we as fans can demand to know every detail about, if his struggles are in fact mental health related

We didn't see EDB or Santos in the friendly so it makes me think JS at least wants to have a look. I thought he was alright and wish him luck, he's currently ours so I'll back him

Yeah that would work out to be fair, as both can also cover Smyth's attacking output

Yeah perhaps, he still has the year so they may feel there's no rush either way

Also odd on Colback and Fox, the fact we had quick and early confirmation on Paal also. Can only assume it's still in discussion, but as each day of pre season passes it's like what is the point anymore

I think the best judge (most of the time) are how the fans of the old club react...

Like Bristol, Birmingham, we told you so! Haven't heard a bad word about either of these.

You're right also, I love Mbengue's craziness. It feels like you need one of those, although I know this will backfire when we see that first red card

From training footage and the game it looks like JS sees Smyth as a left winger, he did play there for Orient to be fair. Until we signed a replacement I'm not sure he'd leave as our depth on that side isn't great.

Also early May there was talk of a new contract for him, that's gone quiet

I'm too optimistic, it'll come with time I'm sure.

I can't see the downside with Poku, apart from a potential dodgy agent interfering.

Then with Mbengue we understand he may be technically raw, but these are the kind of projects that we need to be working on. Athletically great, hopefully coach the rest. Likely the same with Adamson.

I'm sure we'll find out a few gameweeks into the season when fans place their immediate judgement

If you want to completely disregard both of their Championship seasons then sure.

Anyway I thought a lot of the complaints last season was that we were using a vital time of the season to bleed in players from the likes of Lugano, Westerlo, Estrela. If we're then also doubtful about signing some of the outstanding players from League 1, the ones that know 46 games, triple gameweeks, then tbh I'm not sure what we really want or we'd be happy with

Mbengue and Poku with a combined 331 EFL appearances or an existing senior squad with an extra years experience, who is scaring you?

He's still recovering from his surgery last season, it's not a new injury is it?

Hopefully following this and under the watchful eye of Ben Williams we can get him back to 23-24 availability and form. We're a better team with him in it

Very noticeable in build up we're trying to play a 3-2 at the back. Adamson moves into midfield alongside Field

Promising first half!

Anyone notice Stevenage's trialist right back, a certain Ozzy Kakay?

Definitely, also found it interesting that Andy Belk and his team have been assisting with recruitment. Shows the recent alignment of the Women's team with QPR is working and in action

Positive news from the Women's team, first full time head coach

https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/2025/july/04/danny-harrigan-moves-full-time-as-women-

And hopefully the below addresses OP's concern that they are being abandoned by management

“Having (CEO) Christian (Nourry)’s support has made a big difference,” he said.

“I think the girls appreciate the fact that he's not someone that they meet at the start of the season and never see again. He's at all our games, home and away, so having someone that is so actively involved and wants to know what's going on, wants to know the players, has been good for our recruitment as well.

“A lot of players and a lot of clubs will say they’ve got support. I think we actually have – we have had Christian at games, we've had Richard Reilly at games, we've had a lot of senior people at the football club at our games, and they're just there to support the team.”

Unrelated to the thread but interesting quote from him when discussing Poku and the sell on clause they have: "We believe Kwame can go for 20-25 million in 2 years time"

Let's hope they have a good read on this one

On the contrary, does the Edwards loan signing not show how it should and can be done? The possibility of getting players above our grade for far cheaper?

I understand when you're a middling team you would want your own players to get the gametime, but would anyone have thought before 10/11 we would win the league? I like to think Walker, Tommy Smith, Routledge and Miller all played huge roles in that

Whilst Chansiri is holding pressers asking fans to directly pay all outstanding debt and unpaid wages, I'm not upset that our main concern is the wording in a post season update

Off the pitch, we are in the process of exploring new opportunities which we feel will help QPR take important steps forward as we do everything we can to be as competitive as possible.

I'm interested in the above and my first thought would be the category 1 academy status

Yep particularly as Calm's role was with the defense and set piece side. That's already been replaced by Bould and they're looking for a set piece coach. Gracias Xaxi

Birmingham buying mercenaries absolutely isn’t new, proven when they bought all of ours.

But I'm not sure what bringing up BOS' European games proves, 28 games played in the last 2 years, it's not exactly a negative judgement on the player. We'll see how much they all want it when the season starts
