 | Forum Reply | QPR thrashed, Boro run riot, night follows day, bear seen heading for wood at 21:28 9 Mar 2026
I mentioned in another topic that I couldn't be bothered to go to the game yesterday. I don't feel anger at the moment, I feel dejection. I have been pumping up my optimism for what seems like years now (and it is) and I have run out of the stuff. There has been so much change at so many levels (CEO, DoF, managers, coaching staff, players, amount of money spent) and it looks like we have gone nowhere, and possibly backwards. We have spent a lot of cash and still look a long way short of the play-offs. Parity with teams like Palace and Brentford are light years away. We have a lot of injuries, but although I accept that will impact performance, we've been signing injury-prone and 'slight' players. A couple of years ago we seemed to be on top of the sports science stuff, now we look anything but on top of it. There seemed to be a few bright sparks at the development levels, but that has fallen apart and few of the cup-winning players look like they will progress to first team regulars. So, in short, I am done in at the minute. Exhausted at the thought of having to go through years more of shifting and changing to see if we can get it right. I enjoyed some of our games earlier in the season and allowed 'hope to burn bright'. Now it's looking all gloomy again. [Post edited 9 Mar 21:30]

Have to be honest and say I could not motivate myself to go today. My seat was empty. I watched it on the box and unfortunately the game went exactly the way I thought it would. I know I should support the team when it is in a low place, but today I couldn't justify the time and money to travel down, when I could predict what the result would be. We badly need some of those key players back, but that doesn't look like it is happening soon. |

Good post Myke. I wholeheartedly support your sentiment. Disagreement is natural, often helpful, and opens us up to new ways of looking at stuff. However, personal insults, belittling, and dismissing other perspectives is completely unnecessary. I like this forum and my preference is that it evolved into a place for healthy discussion on a consistent basis. Just needs each individual to 'own' their own behaviour. We are all grown ups (I assume), so it's not that hard, with our love for the Rs at the heart of things. |

I had a brilliant night. Well worth the 250 m round trip on a Thursday evening. Thanks to Dave and Ric. The footage was a joy to watch. That fluency of movement from back to front was astounding. I got to meet Phil Parkes and Dave Thomas before I dashed off for the last train from Paddington. Both are lovely blokes, very warm and chatty. I hadn't ever realised Phil Parkes was so funny - he told some great stories. Dave Thomas was my hero as a kid. I used to get told off by my PE teachers for refusing to wear shinpads and rolling my socks down. Hence my name on the old QPRNet site - 'Dave Thomas' Socks'. Big shout out to the club for holding the event and the very obvious affection, honour and respect shown to the players in attendance. Proud to be there and relive some amazing times. He always comes over as a thoroughly decent and sensible bloke. Never stops trying on the pitch. Even if neither of these things were true, threatening his wife and kids is bang out of order. The cowardice and lack of awareness is staggering. |

Used to love reading his columns in the programme. |

That's great to hear. I assumed it was just the four of them, but to meet some of the others will be an added bonus. Dave B - what time are the videos being shown? |

I am really looking forward to meeting the legends - Parkes, Gillard, Francis and Thomas at the club event next week. Heroes of my youth. I used to roll my socks down to feel more like Dave Thomas when I played for my school! I see that it has now sold out. Anyone else from on here going? |

I really like the guy. Thought he was excellent yesterday. He does have a bit of pace and he can defend. The article from WLS indicates that he had to be carefully managed for the first half of the season, and may play more regularly for the second half. Always a risk taking on a player that has had a bad injury, but I would sign him based on his performances this season. SU fans tended to rate him highly before his injury. |

I remember a few posters stating his legs had gone at the beginning of the season. Looks like he went and found 'em again. Pleased to see him right at the heart of things and showing his class. Has been a great addition to our squad over the past few seasons. |

Since Kone went back to the very front of the attack he has looked like the player we saw at the start of the season. His hold-up play and physical presence were superb today. He did everything right with that looping header too (it was right in front of us) and that save would not have been made by 8/10 keepers. It seems like being the point of the attack works best for Burrell and Kone. Nice problem to have I suppose. |

Mate, that is some commitment to the team - well done. What a shame about what you actually got to watch! |

I thought he started OK, but disappeared in the second half. But it is probably not a coincidence that none of our wingers are doing very well. We don't seem to have much guile in our offensive structure. I also feel that we have started to slow down the movement of the ball from back to front, which rarely works well for us. Happy to be proved wrong by the data, but that's my perception. |

I was very cautious last night about rushing to judgement with so many injuries and appalling weather conditions, but I thought we could have: 1. Showed better shape and more intention in attacking phases of play. I thought we moved the ball forward in hope more than expectation. 2. Adapted our tactics when it was becoming clearer and clearer they were not working against a very poor team 3. Executed some of the basics more effectively. It was technically one of the worst matches I have ever watched! |

Sincere condolences to all the family. Lovely to hear about his dedication and loyalty over so many seasons. |
 | Forum Reply | Kolli at 20:18 11 Jan 2026
I also thought Kolli was great. Looked very much at home at that level. Dunne was outstanding and gave a real captain's performance. Smyth looked lively, but got bundled over every time he got into his stride. They clearly did not like his pace. Special mention to the three young subs who also did well when they came on. |

Lots of good things to take away from last night's performance. One, which struck me this morning, was the degree of fighting spirit shown by the team after the equaliser. In recent years, it has struck me how deflated the team looks after conceding important goals. Shoulder slumped, heads down, etc. Last night it was great to see the determination to get right back at it. Special congratulations for Morgan for putting right his error with a cracking goal. I've been wondering if the knowledge that we do now have goal scorers in the team has ignited a greater degree of hope? Whatever the reason it was great to see. (Was also great to throw the 'who are ya' chants right back in the face of the Brum supporters ;) |

To me, Kolli is a promising young player. He is not the 'real deal' yet, but he has done well enough for a lad who hasn't had a long run of games. I certainly would not write him off at this point. I've seen more than enough to think he could come good over time. He is a Rangers lad, whose level of application is high. The background stuff I treat as 'noise' because the accusations pointed at his attitude are unproven. From what I see, he cares. Let's cut the lad some slack and encourage him. His dad, however frustrated he might be, does need to stop the negative posting. It makes things even more complicated for Rayan. |
