Agree Bowlercow, basically every single game is a cup game from now until.the end of the season.
Another advantage of winning will be that it will add pressure to the teams ahead of us, which will affect some of them.
We are in good form and really need a steady win tonight to keep up with the pack.
Matsuki and Downes are both one booking away from a suspension. If one gets a yellow card tonight it would be sensible to take the other one off.
Similarly I would start Larin tonight but if there is an issue play Archer. Need to manage Stewart's minutes very carefully to give him the best chance to lasting right through until the end of the season.

atm looks like it's going to go to the wire. Our extra FA cup fixture is going to have some effect as it now displaces 2 key games to midweek.
We must keep Stewart fit and try to get key player suspensions out the way ASAP We are now going to see the benefit of having a big squad and also Tonda's good work in keeping everyone in the squad on board by short rotations.
Hopefully it's going to be an exciting end to the season. Which is a big step up on last year.

This is just the sort of game where we could come a cropper. An early goal is really a must. Hopefully the great defence splitting passes we are seeing from Azaz and THB can pay quick dividends.
I would also like to see Stewart used sparingly. As with Reece James at Chelsea strictly managing the minutes and even the position played is a must to successfully rehabilitate players with long term injuries. |

Great to see Terry Hurlock mentioned. This current Saints side is starting to have that solid late 80's early 90's feel about it. Solid pros doing a job. Bree. Downes, Larin ,Matsuki, THB Peretz all fit this mould. Add on a bit of flair in Scienza and Azaz and it's a potent combination.

Yet another demonstration that we should sign Stewart to that one year extension straight away.
Downes was lucky to stay on as well after getting drawn in by Coady's shthousery. Azaz had another frustrating game when nothing seemed to come together. Bree was excellent. Should have got that header in the second half tho.
We were well on top. Still on an unbeaten run.

Given that Stewart generated 2 assists and a goal it's a tragedy that we have barely seen him play. Looks a real talent when he plays. Just hope he can stay fit and earn a new deal.
Now won 2 games out of character - bullet header on Saturday and now a comeback. Things are looking up!

The problem is that although it's only 4 points to catch Wrexham, it's 6 points from Wrexham to 5th place. There are now an awful lot of teams playing for 6th place. Making up 10 points in 15 games is a lot to ask.

It's always been the way to berate footballers for perceived faults particularly when they earn far more than the most of us. It can be a very short tough career though and some may be blessed with the physical skills but just not be able to cut it mentally. Next 5 games are the key. If we can get close to maximum points in them then we we should be very close to a play off position.
However even if we achieve promotion, unless there is going to be serious investment in the squad in physically big, capable PL standard players, any promotion season will be a bloodbath again. |

Based on what I have seen of Peretz he is athletic, shouts a lot and distributes the ball well. He is liable to make the odd mistake though. I agree that he is an upgrade.
I agree that the players returning from injury/ loan are very valuable additions to our playing squad and probably exceed the value of any new player that could have been brought in in January. |

Great striker for us in Championship but couldn't seem to make the step up in the PL. Always put a shift in but oddly never seemed to really connect with the fans, even after scoring the goal that took us back up.
Hope it goes well for him at Wolves. |
