I think the physical advantage probably kicks in around 13/14. At 10/11 the girls are often bigger than the boys. When my son's team (admittedly not JPL standard) played Charlton under 12s, the girls were easily a physical match for them. With regards to the number of coaches etc I guess Arsenal see value in investing in the women's game. All the women's games are at the Emirates this season and they tend to get 30,000+ in attendance so I'd imagine they do alright off the gate receipts and sponsorship deals. |

My daughter plays girls football at under 11s. She plays for a club with a really good set up. There's a head of girls football who oversees all the girls teams up until they reach the women's team. The standard is decent considering a lot of the girls have only been playing a year or two. We went to a tournament recently and the best teams there would have beaten a lot of boys teams of the same age. They were really good. A couple of years ago when my son was under 11s, the Charlton under 12 girls played in his league. They were excellent. Played really good football and beat my son's team three times that year. First game the boys didn't really know what to do and thought it would be easy playing against the girls. Even the goalkeeper in the Charlton team was one of the best in their league. From what I've seen the girls and women's game is improving at a very fast rate. Considering it was more or less totally amateur and with little to no audience 10 to 15 years ago, it has come a long way very quickly and will only keep on getting better. |

I don't think this is a real account. Not enough followers to be genuine. |

A week in Suffolk at the end of July then two weeks in Dordogne towards the end of August. Can't wait. |

I'm torn on this one. Teams regularly targeted his side and he was pretty poor 1 v 1 but as others have said, he was almost always available and had spells where he was half decent. Won't miss the corners constantly hitting the first man. |

Clubs like QPR and Palace are cut from the same cloth. I know lots of Palace fans and they've been there through the bad times as well. Life's too short to be jealous about what they've just achieved. This morning, I watched Jimmy Dunne's goal against Birmingham to remind myself that we have our special moments too. Obviously, it's nothing compared to a cup final but that one moment was magical and I'm glad I was there to witness it with my son. I'd thoroughly recommend watching it back. |

That's the message I've had every time I've clicked on any seats that look available. I've tried on phone and on laptop. Strange |

Sums up perfectly what I was trying to say yesterday. |

If it's true then it's a shame we wouldn't offer him another year. Not exactly a big gamble given his age and fitness record. Hopefully for Jimmy, he's now going to get himself a significant hike in wages by signing for a club with more a more realistic chance of promotion. He deserves success wherever he ends up. |

Is that fact? I don't remember seeing it reported. I'd be surprised if there weren't clubs in the league who would be offering to pay him a fair bit more than we could whether that's on 3 years or 4 years. Why would he not hold off and wait for more money? |
 | Forum Reply | Jimmy Dunne at 19:58 7 May 2025
Do you honestly think we've not offered him anything? I just can't see that being the case. Like I said we're hamstrung by the wages we can offer. There are plenty of clubs in the championship who can and do pay higher wages. Jimmy has to look after his future so will go where he can get paid the most. That's the way of the world. |

Does anyone actually know what we have or haven't offered him? Maybe we have offered 3 +1 year on more money but he has been offered more by another club who stand a better chance of going up through the play offs. He's a professional footballer and needs to look out for his own interests. I'd be amazed if we hadn't offered him more money but I'd also be amazed if, given his stats this year, he hadn't been offered significantly more by a bigger club. As Clive regularly points out the league table largely mirrors wages paid and we're mid to lower mid table. This means there will be 8-10 clubs with the means to pay their players more than we can. That much seems clear. |

Just further up this page, Sparkey said he was offered but wanted one or two more years. Said it was well documented. I've never seen anything reported. |
