Ah, the 1970s and 80s. Not only as kids did we have to deal with no health & safety, we also had to deal with the local nonces popping up on our screens every dinner time.

He was on loan at Ebbesfleet who were relegated, bottom of the National League. He's 22yo, so I imagine he'll be leaving.
Tough as I think he had a bad injury last year which looks like he has never really recovered from. |

Tuck, hopefully his season on loan has bulked him up as I think he is the type of midfielder we need.

Andy Sinton and Darren Peacock. Both signed from lower league clubs, so as a 12/13yo I was completely not bothered.
Then saw Sinton score on his debut i think at home against Villa.
Peacock signed from Hereford as an emergency along with Andy Tilson. So again, thought little of it. |

My grandad was a batman during WWII in North Africa and Italy. I always remember as a kid in the 80s at how immaculate his bed was made whenever we went visit. It was because he was a batman. |

On a serious note, if these rumours are true I can see the whole stadium being flattened and moved 50yds. With the school gone and S Africa Rd pedestrianised that is quite a large area. It's probably cheaper to flatten and start a new rather than doing a bolt on job.
Not going to get excited though. We are cynical. |

Got to back this up 100%. It definitely appears to be a generational divide within the club as well with the youngsters loving what Nourry is doing but not questioning anything.
My son is one of them, and i keep having to point out the inconsistencies within the club. He is having none of it, though, and I get it. It's all very exciting for them and they, the youngsters, are absolutely desperate for the club to get back to the PL. Even 18yo are sick of watching Preston and Stoke.
I actually think Nourry is doing a really good job, away from the 1st team, and I like the new coaching framework and what is happening within the Academy and DS.
Yet, as I keep explaining to my son we have had false dawns and promises to often over the past 30 years. We are perhaps a little cynical, so we keep questioning.
Oh, and the youngsters take a screenshot of some of the meltdowns on here (MC sacking last week especially) and then post them on TwitteryX and laugh at us oldies. Just a heads up. |
