More to the point, if they are transgressing UEFA rules, how tf have they not transgressed the Premier League's rules? (Answer appears to be the Prem allows the big clubs to claim Hotels and the Women's team that you sell to yourself are allowable football costs, whereas UEFA thinks "don't be so f-in stupid, of course they aren't". Unfit for purpose... |

Interesting take that, connell. Richards did OK, but nothing really special, certainly not a stand out as I think everyone did well. Your opinion though, so fairs... The first half was great because of the additional effort the team was putting in. Was it to impress the new manager or is it because they are energised? Who knows, who cares, but the effort for a first friendly was much improved from what I saw last season. That is good as effort will, once again, be the bare minimum for this lot. The negatives were the injuries - OK, so maybe they are all "minor" (but then we know how minor injuries with this lot lead to months out), but it is the same old suspects - JCS, Kolli, Frey, Lloyd. That strikeforce is looking a worry especially if Kelman goes as Celar hardly set the world on fire out there today; he certainly doesn't like any kind of physical pressure on him from defenders which is what EVERY Champ team will put on him. |

The thing with Frey is availability. A good poll would be who starts ore games next season - JCS or Frey and who completes most 90 minutes. It is another reason I think that we need another striker - we have no-one else like Michi and we could become dependent on him to stay fit, which is unlikely... |

Got to agree with Esox on this one; Celar really was either dog awful or could not be arsed last season. A forty minute spell over two games aside he was utterly abject over 18 games. Now that could be because he was a Nourry signing that Marti didn't rate, which might make some difference, but on the evidence of last season Kelman must be a better bet... |

Massively stung by the last 21 years and especially by last summer. After the end to the 23/24 season, I thought we'd hit the ground running, but it went south bloody quickly. Just gonna wait and see and hope for something better... [Post edited 30 Jun 23:43]

Judging by the responses to the thread, the Spack Police are as prevalent as the Grammar Police on this board. Sad really... |

He'll probably have had a few threads a while back, but on the back of the alleged WBA and Soton interest, where do we stand? For me, if he will not sign a new contract, anything north of £4m should be accepted. Personally I'd like to him sign an extension with a review point next summer, but that is not in his favour, so why would he sign? I think we will sell, but that may not be a bad thing as alleged selling clubs HAVE to sell once in a while. It will leave as short up front (last season's 4 as a collective were poor), but money needs to start coming in. Thoughts? |

One measure of how well Nourry is doing and that is where the first team finishes in the league. Everything else is fluff and noise. Try waiting to see where the team finishes before creaming your nuts over the CEO. Jury is out. Wall want him to succeed, but he is a long way from confirming that as things stand... |

Did you watch him on his return from injury? Poor for whatever reason. Lightweight, weak defensively, overall very poor. But there is a player there. We can carry one like that, but no more in the Championship. I hope he comes good, but he did not have a great season overall. [Post edited 25 Jun 8:38]

Obviously not, lofty! I am sway this week, but probs would have watched it with the family. It is exactly what it is advertised to be and does not claim to be anything more than a bit of fun that raises money for charity. No real need for anyone to get snooty or snidey about it. Yes Robbie Williams is a bit of a dick as is Jonathan Wilkes and yes some of the "celebs" are unknown and pretty crap. But so what? Who won btw? |

That's only TWELVE days away though. Will we still get told that on the 23 June this year? |

That squad is weak as pss; sorry, mate. GKs OK Defence - CBs OK, no full back on either side - desperately bad Midfield - defensively OK, but no creative spark in there or ability to take the ball on the turn Wingers / Attacking Midfield - Chair championship quality; none of the others. Smyth - effort yes, no end product, Dembele - if he doesn't bulk up during the close season, his talents are worthless at this level, can't defend; Madsen - given time, can pick a pass, but no defensive bone in his body; Sutton / Morgan - kids Up front - unacceptable this season, no-one fit to play any more than 30 games, Celar woeful aside from 2 goals and about 30 minutes out of 18 games. Kelman a wild card, but I can't see him staying or, if he does, he leaves for nothing. So much work to do - first choice left and right back, creative / box to box midfielder, two wingers and a regularly available striker needed to make the first eleven passable. Oh, and probably a CB as JCS / Cook won't make 40 games between them next season. Its early in the summer, but as things stand, we're in the brown stuff YET AGAIN. |

QPR can bore the pants off me as long as they win. England, clearly I am less vested as I'd like to be entertained as these are, apparently, the world class players we have. I am not and therefore feel as much affinity with them as I do the other dull, boring Premier League teams. Tournaments are fun, but we remain a hard watch. |
 | Forum Reply | England at 19:35 7 Jun 2025
Shocking wasn't it. If Southgate was bad, this guy is JFH level dull. Yet again England well overrated and 'kin boring to watch. Will continue to beat the little teams and fail when we come across another top 10 team. |

The thing at this stage is that we are QPR, so we WILL buy players and the majority of them will be huge gambles. The question then is will they come good? If the recruitment strategy remains the same, ie: getting in "ballers" with good technique, but limited physicality, athleticism and pace, well we're fckd. If the Injuries are solved by the Scarlet Pimpernel re-emerging from the desert, we might be less fckd. If they get more pragmatic and give some steel to add to the midget army up top, then we may be less fckd. If they hurry up and sort out a manager that fits the model and is aligned with the club's philosophy, maybe we're even more less fckd. So that's a whole heap of 6s we need to roll and with our track record as the club that will fall into a bucket of t*ts and coming our sucking our thumb, what do YOU reckon the chances are? |

Good luck Disco, my ol' message board buddy. Madness though. Been with mine 24 years and f-me, if we ever split up that'll do it for me; time to myself just spending the last days I have - yes please! Mine is great, but she is enough for a lifetime... Hope all goes well, D. |
