The bad news just keeps on coming for Pompey fans, as Saturday's defeat to fellow strugglers Colchester makes it 17 games in league and cup without a win. Pompey are currently second bottom of Npower League One. Jed Wallace’s first half strike - his second in three games - and James Keene's first goal for the club were the only highspots. The off the field troubles at Pompey also continue. On Thursday the High Court case to decide whether the PST will be able to buy Fratton Park, releasing the charge of former owner Balram Chainrai, was adjourned again, casting more uncertainty. Last time Whittingham was in charge as caretaker boss he enjoyed more success, collecting ten points from six games in 2011 before Michael Appleton was appointed. And while the Pompey goalscoring legend is keen for the job permanently, his second tenure as Pompey manager has not worked out so successful. Under his leadership Pompey have only collected three points from a possible 39. Alan Cousins of the Isle of Wight Supporters Club supports this view. 'I would like to Guy get a chance of the manager’s job as and when the court case is finally settled, perhaps with the help of a proven manager/coach to work along side him.' Chris Quinell,Chairman of the supporters group “PompeyDownUnder” , sympathises with the Pompey boss’s situation but feels the striking legend needs to focus more on young players. 'How can GW be expected to work on tactics for the long term when all is gradually disappearing before his eyes. 'Youth must be given a chance as it looks highly likely we will be relegated this year and the young players will need to be brought along in the first team to gain valuable experience. They might even surprise us.' During this critical week for the PST, the Trust’s spokesman, Colin Farmery, believes they have not lost sight of their main objective. 'Results could be better in an ideal world, but the main focus is on saving Pompey at the moment,' he said. But Farmery was unable to confirm if Whittingham would become the permanent manager, if the decision at the High Court eventually goes the Trust's way. 'That will be a matter for the new Portsmouth FC board when it is formed. From a Trust perspective we will put our faith in the new PFC Board, which will have three Trust representatives on it, and give whoever is the Pompey manager our full support,' he said.
