I see that Tony Mowbray is now available, might be a good appointment to steady the ship next year, although not sure I personally could stomach his brand of god awful boring football.
Whatever we might think, I’m sure our Head of Recruitment will have a strong view.
What’s the general view?

Poll: Which is the greatest crisp of all time?

Haven't we just got rid of his brother?

I like Tony Mowbray, but it didn't go well for him at West Brom this season.

Poll: Would you be happy with Rishi Sunak as a new Saints owner?

Nice guy etc, but wouldn't want to see him at Southampton.

I like him and with close to a 40% managers win rate, he’d be miles better than the idiots we’ve had in recent years.

You're right. That would be a vast improvement on what we've had to endure this season.
But to gain promotion, a team would need a win rate of around 60%.
Last season 40% would of seen us finish around 10th.
So no. not good enough if we have genuine promotion ambitions.

Ian you’re right, but 40% THIS season would have put us mid-table and safety.
After such a terrible season, I’m not sure i even want to bounce straight back into the sh1t show that is the Premier League. Give me two or three seasons in a really competitive league, where we fight like bu66ery, have pride in the club and are competitive in every game, that would suit me.

I actually think some of our current players feel the same way.
They'd prefer to play in Championship because it's more their level.
Nothing worse than being out of your depth & unable to compete which has been the case this season.
But the fun does go out of the Championship if your in the lower half, which is where I think this current squad would be.
