Not a place for timid hearts
One of the great derbies
I fancy Sunderland causing tears over the Tyne
Johnny Cornforth will be happy at 5pm

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Surely someone gonna be red carded on this
Faircto say , and don’t want to upset anyone? These two don’t like each other

Good derby atmosphere at the Stadium of Light today. Worked with a lot of Geordies & Mackems over the years. It always seemed their dislike for each other was largely confined to matchdays. Can’t say I ever witnessed the perennial hatred that exists between Swans-Cardiff, Rangers-Celtic, West Ham-Millwall or Utd-Liverpool. Just my experience

Both clubs generally have a great set of supporters.

Strongly agree on this....proper football people up there

It is intense but confined largely to match days. Our rivalry will never be like that as it runs deeper politically, economically and to an extent culturally. The latest WRU rugby fiasco will only fan the flames.

Sunderland is a great away trip. Not as much as a party town like Newcastle but the SoL is a decent ground but unlike Newcastle you aren't 1000ft up in the air watching ants..

For me the match experience spoils NUFC as an away day because the town itself and the hospitality on offer is cracking..

Someone said in the pub yesterday afternoon during this game that there's a campaign to make all clubs allocate the away fans behind the goals in all fixtures for a better atmosphere not shoved up high in a corner like a ginger stepchild....

Not only see it, the wind chill makes you think you're sat in it !
I think that was the last time I saw you in the flesh wasn't it ?
Newcastle - La Bodega - you brought your lad along...
We did Anfield and Goodison around that time as well I recall
May have been a figment of my imagination of course as apparently you don't go to games according to the experts on here....

It was Dem
Our lad has done well and lives in Chester with his family
He used to come along with me but no more

Think it was 3-0 after 15 mins

Stayed in Gosforth , got lost on was back t hotel
Daf missed train didn’t he ?
Gave Ian lift back to station

Great days and now simply a sepia reflection of a time when we kicked arse

Done Sunderland when Defoe brought Bradley Flowery out on to the pitch , Naughton scored a screamer , wife was with me too

Drinks by Wearmouth bridge with Mackems who’d we basically relegated , great people

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Remember both of those trips very well indeed !!

I think at the Newcastle game Lovenkrands scored 2 early goals for them and 3-0 down so effectively game over the away bar/concourse was bouncing well before half time and all through the 2nd half !!
Then left the ground and headed into ‘Toon’ straight into a topless bar about 5.30pm 😲😲 I thought this is a hell of a step up from John the Bank at the Gari !! 🤪🥳🍻

The Bradley Lowery Sunderland game was very emotional Sunderland fans applauded us regularly as we broke into the Bradley Lowery Last Christmas song and Kyle’s strike was the icing on the cake !!

Stayed in Newcastle on both occasions the Bigg Market and Quayside were awesome happy days indeed!! 🦢 ❤️ 👊
