If you said about 15 years ago that then economic basket cases like Portugal and Greece would be among the top places for emigrating investors to relocate to and the UK the worst in 2025 they would have thought you a nutjob. They bore their collective pain, learnt painful political & economic lessons and have emerged stronger for it. Sadly I think with the muppet show we have in charge the real pain is yet to come and we haven't hit the bottom of the curve yet as this depressing article in the Telegraph illustrates... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/bu [Post edited 13 Jan 12:39]

 | Forum Reply | How many will we take to Hull? at 14:44 12 Jan 2026
I think Hull has an unfair rep as a city - It's a decent away day and been there many times... There's loads of pubs in the old town and city centre for all tastes but since they moved to the KC/MKM stadium we always take a cab up (you can walk it if you're not pushed for time) to top end of Princes Avenue north of the ground get dropped off at Garbutts and work our way down where there are lots of bars and places to eat - always reminds me a bit of a larger version of Uplands and likewise has a lot of students and young folk there. Pave is my go to drinking hole with a large range of foreign and UK beers but there are plenty of others and a couple of new ones - sadly the El Toro tapas bar has closed a shame as that ticked the beer and scran box for me... From the bottom end there's The Zoological and over the road the Botanic pub on the corner is - or at least was - a busy community-run home fans pub packed full of Hull rugby and football memorabilia but it looks like they're not allowing any kind of away fans in anymore. Shame. It's then a relatively short stroll to the away end...down Derringham onto Argyle St and take the footpath over the railway opposite Londesbrough.. The days of Boothferry and the Silver Cod are long gone where you had to run the gauntlet of the locals and have your wits about you all day long ....but you still should exercise caution around the ground before and after the match. Hull fans in the main are decent down to earth Yorkshire folk and like a chat about footy over a beer but sadly like many of those with a reputation from the 80s/90s there's still an element lurking around outside the ground that target away fans ,even in recent years. Cover colours, head down, radio silence - the usual precautions... Don't let that put you off though you'll be fine elsewhere and have a top - if long old - day out if you're sensible. Just looked at trains and even advance non-flexi tix on specified trains are £122 and I'm a lot nearer to Hull than Swansea !! Absolute p-take the prices these days. Fair play if you're making the long trek from Swansea.....Enjoy ! [Post edited 12 Jan 16:22]

The trouble is a lot of left leaning liberals are over zealous in their anger and rage at protests. We see it in the UK all the time and they act incredulous when they've been arrested, pinned to the floor and end up in clink and then court. Just Stop Oil, Palestine etc... I'm probably right in thinking she naively thought that being white, female, a pillar of the community driving an SUV in an ostensibly normal suburban neighbourhood that law enforcement only shoot blacks and hispanics when they fail to comply. He seems to appear from nowhere and then is seen near the bonnet at the drivers side - I think he is obscured initially and is walking towards the car weapon already drawn then she drives at him and he shoots - the vid is on the BBC in one of the many articles on this... As I see it - two impulsive panicked reactions that have resulted in a tragedy. |

Have watched the video of the ICE agents around the car multiple times and she does try to run one over trying to get away but this was a total overreach - no warning shot, could have aimed for the tyres as she was driving off, or simply wait and detain later as they had the plate numbers, description etc.. The trouble is this women and her partner had been goading them and being a pain in the arse for a good while before one of them snapped. He's been run down before so that may explain but in no way excuse his actions. At the end of the day goading and obstructing armed law enforcement is never a good idea |

Amazing game. This is what the FA Cup is all about ... There was also a Duffy, Casey and Lacey on the pitch which reminded me of many trips to Moss Rose back in the day... In fact Richard Duffy made his debut there coming on as a sub for Mickey Howard in a 4-1 defeat in the FA Cup... A great day for The Silkmen [Post edited 10 Jan 14:48]

Put them in the passenger footwell and stick the heater on for the drive home... £11.50 though....That's London & SE prices I used to love coming home because everything was so much cheaper - beer, eating out, shopping etc... but not anymore. I noticed it after Covid - everything had shot up in price. |

Is it? I may be misinterpreting your words/intent here Sexualising kids is abhorhent but the cynic in me says they are doing this to clip dissent against their shitty government... |

This has got Starmer's fingerprints all over it. It is sinister and Orwellian. He is apparently very thin skinned so all those hundreds of AI memes ridiculing him and his pathetic excuse of a government will no doubt have got his goat. X is also the go to platform for the anti-woke brigade so has long been in the Left's crosshairs... |

Russia has been an aggressive imperialist nation since Tsarist times despite having a large area of the globe it always craves more. NATO was formed to curb it and keep it in check and had we not got to Berlin in time the whole of Germany would have succumbed to the Red Army. Stalin drove as far West as he could and who knows how much further he would have gone had he had the opportunity. Putin is an embittered ex-KGB traditionalist who hates what Gorbachev did in ending the Cold War and wants those former Eastern Bloc nations back under Soviet control, hence why they all joined NATO to blunt Putin's expansionist zeal. He's adept at playing the victim as justification for heinous actions at home and abroad. I've worked with Russians and I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I can spit... |

That's not what you were saying a few weeks back though was it ....? You were arguing with everyone on here that black was white and we were all full of sh/t for questioning the MSM narrative...? Your revisionism would appear to portray you as a reasonable individual now the facts are laid bare.... We are not buying it sunshine....try harder... [Post edited 8 Jan 11:10]

I walked into the pub after work and saw the headline on SSN and did emit a huge laugh, followed by "Shame ...he was doing such a damn fine job!".... |

On the subject of Tommy Robinson and the coke thing ... I think many who have lived 'a bit of a wild life' have done things they aren't proud of and would rather forget looking back. Many people have had some sort of addiction than you'd think I'd say, especially in the modern world, especially the last 2 or 3 generations, whether it's gambling, booze, drugs, sex, porn, scratchcards...even shopping and running up debts. I'm not some cheerleader for TR by any means but he wears his heart on his sleeve and is a take me or leave me warts and all bloke. He doesn't claim to be anything else. He's done much to shine a light on some very dark corners of our society that many would choose to wilfully ignore. I for one, am glad he did so and put himself up there to be shot at by a corrupt and biased system. That takes a degree of intestinal fortitude and cohones and for that reason I have respect for him. For perspective, and underlining the hypocrisy of the MSM, it is an almost nailed on certainty that many in the Commons and Lords are well-known cocaine users. If the truth broke in full it would have brought down a few previous governments. The whole political establishment is a sewer of sexual peccadiloes, drugs and corruption...The Nick Brown fiasco is one they couldn't hide despite the media suppresion. You would reasonably argue there are probably more bubbling under the surface ready to be exposed but for now they are flawed but usefully compromised idiots. For a cross-section of 650 members of the public they do seem to have a disproportionate amount of wrong 'uns that find their way in... [Post edited 5 Jan 20:21]

There is a Victorian facsimile of it in Reading Town Hall/Museum.... Took my kids there many times and I've also seen the original in Bayeux. Seriously though it's worth seeing if you're ever in Reading and it's completely free about 100 yards from the station... https://www.readingmuseum.org. [Post edited 29 Dec 2025 1:01]

I think Sam Parker must have been carrying a knock for a couple of weeks as he only featured against Millwall for the under 21s on Dec 20th....He wasn't in the 3 previous U-21 squads and not on the first team bench since 6th Dec against Oxford at home but apart from Santos the squad was said to be fully fit so that still doesn't explain his absence... |
