The cynical in me says it will be announced on Friday 9th October. |
 | Forum Reply | The Wait Goes On at 12:47 30 Sep 2026
I don't know why the wait. It is inexplicable but I now think they will throw the book at Eckert and he won't be able to manage in England for a long time. Why? because I think cheating whatever the magnitude is now an issue in football (I am talking about off field cheating rather than the every day stuff we see on the pitch) that the various football authorities want to stamp out once and for all. Of course what Eckert has done pails into insignificance compared to Man City, Chelsea, etc but at the end of the day he still broke the rules and was seeking to gain benefit from it. We are a small club with a relative small fan base. They have no reason to go soft on him and dealing with him severely will be seen as a further example of the FA, EFL, Pl, etc asserting themselves collectively on any wrong doing. I am a huge Eckert fan and I will be sorry to see him go, but in the current climate I cannot see him remaining in his seat. I could well be wrong as clearly I do not know and like everyone not in the know I am doing no more than speculating and second guessing but this my hunch. I just wish they would get on with it and announce the outcome whatever it is..........but timing wise - don't be surprised if it is Friday 9th October! |

I sure I echo everyone's feelings and that is, I just wish to christ this flipping saga would end and we get on with the football. I thought my organisation that I would for take long enough to make a decision etc but the FA takes the flipping biscuit. Sick of the whole damn thing. Whatever the outcome, get on with it, announce it and then lets move on. I almost don't want an appeal option because that drags it out even longer (though I realise why there might be one). As for the media. They have been awful but to some extent we never dealt with the media side at all. BBC have been so biased and yet you know had it been one of the big 6 it would have been different. A bit like Liverpool with The Sun we as a fanbase and club almost ought to do the same with the BBC and other elements of the media. |

Though I don't particularly find it that funny, it is just a bit of humour and not worth getting upset about. I don't want to see us start crying over something like the Middlesbro' management and fans. Just take it on the chin. As they say "revenge is a dish best served cold". |
 | Forum Reply | Matsuki / Schlotterbeck at 08:50 9 Sep 2026
I thought there were some really good performances. The 2 mentioned on the start of this thread and like others, I feel Matsuki will always give his all even if his all is not always perfect. I thought Scienza played well after a couple of indifferent performances and Azaz had a good game. We had a sloppy period before our 3rd goal and I could foresee an equaliser but overall the performance across the team was good. Bristol City will be another test and they have done quite well against us in the past. |
 | Forum Reply | ARCHER SCORES!!!!!!! at 09:28 6 Sep 2026
I was less bothered about Archer going, like anyone, if you get someone in that is an improvement on what you had. I am seeing absolutely nothing thus far in Dobbin to suggest he has much to offer, added any quality and is going to make a difference to our team. I hope I am proved wrong, but I/we need to be proved wrong soon as we cannot afford to have passengers on the pitch and in games (not that he is alone in not performing well at the moment). |
 | Forum Reply | Birmingham Thread at 08:24 2 Sep 2026
I wouldn't say it was a poor performance but more of an indifferent one. At times we looked quite good and Larin had a few chances which didn't seem to be going for him, but then again no one else looked like they were going to score. Peretz had a poor game in goal. At times he was very unsure and reminded me of his first few games with us. But our passing was astray and we looked a bit soft in midfield again. But, we did create chances and there were some good moments. Birmingham was certainly equal to us and at times were the stronger side. Like Larin they missed a few good chances as well, so all in all, a draw seemed a fair result. Thus far I would say we have had an inconsistent start to the season performance wise, but we have certainly had a lot worse starts to the season in the past. We do need a win at Lincoln if we want to challenge at the top end. |

Alan Knight - a commensurate professional and loyal and committed to PFC. They may be our arch rivals but I have genuine respect for players like Alan Knight. |

I think his rationale for wanting a move are fair and logical to him personally. Any of us in any career will seek to advance themselves elsewhere if they do not feel it is going the way they would like it to where they are and as he says, actual football playing career is quite short. I hope he does well if he does move on. |
 | Forum Reply | Would it have been better to have cut Tonda loose ? at 15:44 26 Aug 2026
Agree Sonicboom. I think (as long as he does not get a long ban) Tonde will turn it around. The performances at the moment are not good - certainly last night the 2nd half was awful in terms of attitude and application but the transfer window does not help. |

From where I was sitting in the Itchen stand my impression was that Stoke are a poor championship side and the frustration that has been aired about the vocal support was largely down to the fact that until the final few minutes we made heavy weather of beating a poor Stoke team. For me, most of that was down to an effective midfield, with the exception of Downes. The slight worry being that we don't look like we were ready for the start of the season and we have played one reasonable championship side - but nothing special but lost, and managed to "just" beat a poor championship side. The real test will start to come this Saturday against Millwall, and beyond. I didn't see any Stoke players that I think would add quality to our team but I am not saying I am right. I may have missed something. All that said, I have faith in Tonde to get the best he can out of the players he has. It is whether we have the right players to get us to the place that we all want the club to ultimately get to. |
 | Forum Reply | So where are the bed wetters now at 09:29 24 Aug 2026
There was an over reaction to a poor 45 minutes at Watford, but I was detecting that there was a downward mood amongst the fan base last week with stories of players leaving. I think had we not won on Saturday the mood would have been of one of virtual meltdown amongst some of our fanbase. That said, it was a good and necessary win on Saturday. I was there and I have to say though, for the most part our performance was poor until towards the end. We had plenty of possession in the 2nd half but offered little real threat. The goal by Larin was excellent but I expected us to push on and overwhelm what was in truth a very poor Stoke City, yet we made heavy weather of it. We are lacking in midfield and offering little bite apart from Downes who got his customary yellow card because he was the only one willing to put a tackle in. On that performance (despite the win) we will struggle against a good Millwall side. But, a win is a win and this may kick us on and I do have faith in Tonde. I just hope we have a good closing transfer window as we need some quality strength particularly if THB moves on and at the moment we are looking flaky in midfield. |

Absolutely Matt. It was a bad 45 minutes. The 2nd half was better - not perfect by along way, but better. For some reason we are always slow starters to a season no matter who is in charge. Mind you, if we lose on Saturday, he has to go as do the board, the window cleaner, the groundsman, etc. lol I blamed it on Andy Burnham anyway - isn't he suppose to be saving the world? |
 | Forum Reply | New Championship transfer record at 10:58 14 Aug 2026
We need to stop sweating on what West Ham or any other club are doing and just focus on ourselves in trying to beat whatever opposition that is in front of us. I don't think West Ham board issues will affect their performance on the pitch. I will be surprised, very surprised if they do not automatically go up. |

I think Southampton has such a history to tell and could really be made into something and having the twin waterways and the solent is a big advantage but as many of you have said, they have not had vision, they have lacked any desire to do something and as much as they can use WWII as an excuse, well look at Germany (albeit they had Marshall Aid and we didn't), and especially at Warsaw and what they accomplished as an example (and that was under Soviet Union domination). You all make very valid points. |

I think it will be a tough league but the ones I think will do well but not getting much of a mention are Norwich City. I can't see beyond West Ham winning it outright though. As for us, I think we will challenge and be in the mix at the end. |
 | Forum Reply | Pompey Bid For City Of Culture at 22:51 10 Aug 2026
As much as I hate to say it, but as a city it has more to offer than Southampton. For some inexplicable reason, my home city, despite being a wealthy area, has done very little to make Southampton an attractive place to visit - heaven knows what people think that come to the city to join a cruise. |

He would score some superb goals but give him a tap in or an open goal and he would hit everything but the target. He was good at holding the ball up. |
