Thanks Clive, re the match, the change of day means I’m going to miss another defeat. I was at Southampton so needing some positivity. Re the game as a whole, you are right about so many things. Still those magic moments make it worthwhile, could do with one coming along. I am in a minority and think the extended playoffs is yes a money spinner but does give us mere mortals a potential chance against the paratroopers. |

Another one here, moved from Feltham to Burghfield so went up in the world. For those non Reading guys Burghfield is a village just South of Reading (RG postcode). Wondering if there is enough of us to grab a beer / curry and feel sorry for each other. Drive to C&S almost exactly an hour |

So assuming we get to the magic 50 ( still a risk methinks) and no major tweaks to the squad I genuinely feel this might be good timing. You could argue it does dilute the parachute payment advantage. Our squad is stronger, if fit, and Morgan, Walsh,Bennie even Esqu will be championship ready. Still feel we have the death spiral from hell in us though |

Have to say E17 this is amazing. I’m 62 ( not an old 62) and that was the 1st time since going with my dad somewhere I didn’t feel safe. TBH the train station on the way back scared the bejeezers out of me also ( I know covered as well). Suspect Southampton will be a bit easier tonight, one good thing about purpose built out of townish stadiums with space . |

Brilliant night of reflection. Have to say the “URs” at the end bought a lump to my throat. Dave Thomas not remembering games hysterical. Well done all those involved. The quality of football on those pitches !!! |

Their 1st goal was an absolute peach of a pass, was right behind it. RND sold an absolute kipper. So I think Saito was our most dangerous player until he became their most dangerous player. After that any confidence left him. At 1-1 I felt we would still win, starting to look down not up. |

Great read, for so many reasons. So from my experience of leading a far larger business I would say there is an element of you can’t do right for doing wrong and vice versa. Harder for him as he has to satisfy not only employees but the amazing fanbase. From my personal experience and peers there is the obvious of not wanting to do a bad job, I really feel his motivation and decision making is for the right reason. We might not agree with his actions but believe they are made with the right intentions. We are in a better place as far as squad strength, win against Wrexham and I reckon there would be less criticism as we would be top 6. Heston, him representing us on the council, selling Dykes, Kelman and Armstrong for decent money massively ticks a box for me. I’m less on the fence than many. Clive ignore the rubbish, podcast yesterday was right up there with the best. Andy |

You know I’m a year older and still believe, can’t stop myself. Even Mr Elbow really wants to, don’t give up. Next season is the one, which will the title of my autobiography |

Mbengue available Friday and hopefully new striker, both will boost the bench. 9 starters pick themselves so 2 wide men from Smyth, Saito, Bennie and Kolli. Reckon Bennie will get the nod down the right, Smyth will surely start. Can’t think of a recent season where we seem to have the cover for an injury situation like ours. Personally would rather Sam played and stayed for all the obvious reasons, LB cover almost as important as midfield Field. We obviously trust our Brazilian |

I know the general opinion is that Steve Cook will leave at the end of season but today walking back to the car I heard his name mentioned as many times as Madsen and Kone in a massively positive light. Have to say the whole back 4 looked stronger without the madness at RB. Van Dyke is the same age as Steve Cook and still near the top of his game, Cook’s reading of the game is brilliant and we have another captain on the pitch. Wonder whether the extension also had a number of games played rollover. I know I am in the minority but I would keep him, I’ve also been to enough away games to know his standards don’t drop |

I have a free morning and just read Clive’s report when Poku signed. Over 180 EFL games played in League 2 and League 1 by 23 years old, clearly not a crock when we signed him. Reading it again made me think we do have a potential star in the building. I know nothing about hamstrings but if necessary don’t play him again this season in 1st team to make sure, Beale owes Chrissy Willock for bringing him back too early. |
