And it's a very good point, well made. Despite his shortcomings I do have time for Nardi. I want him to succeed but his adversity to catching routine crosses does rather test one's patience. |

Signs of improvement and a peach of a cross for the first goal. Hopefully that gives him the confidence to regain his previous form. |

Madsen's still not the complete number midfielder as he doesn't score enough goals but he keeps things ticking over and now relishes the physical battle when last season he hid from it. Without doubt the most improved player of 2025 and fast becoming one of the first names on the team sheet. |

The 2 full backs were excellent. Didn't allow either Brum winger time and space to do damage. On the one hand it was a shame Mbengue went off as he had Gray in his pocket. On the other hand it was the prerequisite to that moment from Morgan. HQ went off like a bomb. |

The save from the corner was decent but let's have it right; he has to learn to start catching balls instead of always punching them. It makes the team and fans nervous. Frankly I'm surprised Brum didn't take note and start bombarding him with high crosses. That being said, give me Paul Nardi over Jeremy Beadle any day of the week. [Post edited 10 Dec 1:17]

That's what you think because you view the world through your prism. I suggest you place yourself in his shoes to understand the lure from his perspective. Salah is 33 and not getting any younger. He's an Egyptian man who has grown up in a culture that is far more akin to Saudi Arabia than the UK. He speaks Arabic, is Muslim and has a family who would no doubt welcome the move as the quality of life would far outstrip anything that Merseyside can offer. If he were to switch, he'd be the number 1 star and the face of all things Saudi Pro League. He'd have advertisers eating out of the palm of his hand. Geographically he'd be far closer to Egypt (580 miles compared to 2,200) so trips to visit family or represent the national team would become much easier. I'd say that's a fairly compelling option that in light of recent events he may well start considering. Other players in their prime with no cultural connections to the country have made the move so it's entirely plausible that Salah could follow. [Post edited 8 Dec 22:50]

Fair play. Having just drawn West Ham away in the FA Cup, that's one you can probably walk to as well (albeit it may not be an evening game). [Post edited 8 Dec 19:36]

Nice little trip to the London Stadium. Have dates been published? Please let it not be the 3rd match in a 3 game week. [Post edited 8 Dec 19:37]

Forgive me if I missed the memo but why are you walking from Liverpool Street to Loftus Road? I understand our transport system isn't the best but, if anything, the Central Line is direct. [Post edited 8 Dec 18:29]

No doubt another exciting away trip to a fellow Championship team awaits us (provided Blackburn's pitch isn't still waterlogged). |

It's well known fact that Andy Robertson and Caoimhin Kelleher were Diogo Jota's closest friends at Liverpool, not Mo Salah. Anyone pretending otherwise is being both disingenuous and distasteful. Lest we forget, in the immediate aftermath of Diogo's untimely death, Liverpool started the season like a train, winning 3 of their opening 4 PL fixtures and sitting top. Why would it suddenly affect their form many months later? The simple fact is that Liverpool are going through a period of transition, where many of their established stars are ageing and moving beyond the peak of their powers. To make it to the top in professional football requires ego as well as talent. Unfortunately, ego has a habit of transcending talent when the latter begins to wane. Salah simply has to knuckle down, make some adjustments to his game, work hard and prove the doubters wrong on the pitch. I have little doubt that he can do it if he applies himself. The problem is, he doesn't have to because the lure of big money, wide acclaim, and a second-to-none lifestyle in Saudi Arabia is real and difficult to resist. [Post edited 8 Dec 22:48]

Whilst I would agree that on paper Verstappen is the better driver, Norris is a worthy champion this season. Max had the benefit of experience on his side. Having previously won 5 world titles, he knows what it takes to get the job done. By comparison, Lando was learning on the job. His ability to quickly learn from his mistakes and make the necessary adjustments stood out for me. In addition, Verstappen effectively operates in a 1-driver team which pretty much dedicates its resources and energy to him. His compatriot Tsunoda is little more than a glorified test driver and plays a very obvious second fiddle to Max. By contrast Norris' teammate, Piastri, has equal standing at McClaren and was very much in the title race himself. Indeed, at one point in the season Oscar led the championship and looked a better bet for the title than Lando. Given the above, I would argue that Lando Norris did very well to hold it together and eke out a well deserved F1 Drivers Championship win. Let's be proud of our high achievers instead of denigrating their accomplishments. |

Honestly this notion that we have to wrap a loan LB in cotton wool is just plain bananas. Just play the lad. |

Nice to have a drivers championship that went down to the wire. In the end the McClarens did what they had to do to get the job done. Congratulations to Lando. He did well to regain his form mid-season and ultimately pip Verstappen and Piastri. If Ferrari and Mercedes can develop competitive cars then next season could be interesting. |

I honestly don't understand what some folk were expecting from this rabble? Until the players and staff accept that Bazball isn't suited to Test cricket they will continue to get humbled by the best nations. Time to go back to the drawing board. |
