This lot have only been back in the football league for two minutes, let alone the championship, yet the sense of entitlement on some of these fans is laughable. All the talk pre-match about being the “pride of wales”. Do me a favour! You can claim that if you’ve consistently finished higher than the other Welsh clubs over a long period, which we have done, but not when you’ve been in the same league as us for half a season. Normally stuff like this doesn’t bother me, but the utter bollox that has been written by the media, and has been said by their fans and management pre & post match makes my teeth itch. So glad we did them last night, & the manner of how it happened. Karma.
Apparently it’s their first sell out since 2019, so considering they are bigger than Barcelona, sleeping giants etc that tells you everything you need to know
Keith I’m sure I remember listening to this game on the radio. I’m pretty sure it was during a time where we played Exeter in 2 or 3 different cup competitions, & a league game, all in the space of a few weeks. Pretty sure we won the “re-match” down at St James’s 5-2. And I think we beat Oxford away on penalties in the 3rd round (they were 2nd division, us in the 3rd). I was only 19 at the time, and I remember I couldn’t believe we’d beaten the “mighty” Oxford on their own patch!!
In all my many years supporting the swans, this goal is right up there. Two of the most nerve wracking games I’ve ever witnessed in that play off semi. But, what a feeling after Pratley did this. One of the best feelings and atmospheres I’ve ever witnessed down the liberty.
Mike Lewis is still around. He’s been a presenter on Radio Tircoed (now re-branded as Welsh Coast Radio). I think he still does a bit up there. I was a presenter on that station myself between 2008 & 2016, & I had dealings with him in my time there. Will leave it at that.
I agree with this, although what I would add to that is if we win 1-0 with a goal off someone’s backside, it’s still the 3 points, & although obviously we have a lot to improve on, even a scruffy win could be the start of a decent run which may see us move up the table. Also in Tymon’s case with the goal, it might encourage others to shoot instead of fannying about with it in the final third, especially with the likes of Tymon, Vipi & Galbraith, who all have a decent shot on them. Obviously lots to improve on, but small signs today that we can be better than we have been.
This all day long, particularly Ronald. It’s bordering on embarrassing the way he goes down looking for free kicks with little or no contact. I know a lot of players do it, but it’s not as if we’re particularly dangerous from attacking set pieces! I’ll support the players of my team as much as humanly possible, but I’m with you. When you see his utter crap game in, game out, then collecting his however many thousands of pounds a week, then you do struggle to keep the faith. Nothing I’d love more than for him & the rest of the team to prove me wrong, but I can’t see it happening
This. Particularly Ronald. Weak as p**s on the ball, forever looking for the free kick instead of trying to take on his man. Waste of a shirt in my opinion, & if the rumour is true that premier league teams are looking at him (which I highly doubt), then I’d gladly drive him to any one of them myself. I know he’s not the only one underperforming, but he’s that bad, even our full backs could defend against him with their eyes closed.
Not a huge surprise, but Woody is out of this one. If we could just get that win I really think the Aussies are beatable, especially without Cummins & Hazlewood & potentially Lyon. My head still telling me 4/5-0 though lol
4/5-0 incoming. Same thing every time down under. Hope I’m wrong of course, but with Cummins and Hazelwood to come back for the Aussies, it’s going to be a long, long series.
We drew & lost matches against some extremely average teams under his stewardship and because of his tactics, plus I don’t fancy us needing 45-50 passes just to get to the half way line, so no thank you, all day, every day and thrice on Sundays.
Yes I was thinking the same. Thought it would be a bit more than that considering the success he’s had out there. I know it’s a gamble, as all managerial appointments are, but I’m quite excited about this guy, & I hope we get him.
