That first half was the stuff of nightmare. No-one had any clue what they were up to and more than few of them pretty much burned through a season's-worth of good will in the first 20 minutes.
No point in naming names because we all saw the same match but there were definitely a couple of them who need a good, long look at themselves after that mess.
Same as it ever was. I hate this club sometimes. |

Don't like the way he's playing at all recently. If we had an option in his position, he'd be benched. He must realise it himself. |

Nothing much to like about the last 3 games. I knew we'd get beaten yesterday - you don't have to be Mystic Meg to have seen that coming - but it was the limp-dicked manner of our performance. I wrote in the match thread that we were playing like a dog trying to catch a balloon but, upon reflection, I don't think we played even that well.
I understand that we would all like to pin this on someone (or something) but I doubt we'll be able to settle for just one. In other news, I have opened a new business selling pitchforks and torches at very reasonable prices. |

Some people rave about Varane: I don’t get it. Others coat him off all the time: I don’t get that either. I find him difficult to categorise because he has clearly got the ability to be a driving force in midfield but he always strikes me as risk averse. If you only play safe passes in low-risk areas, your stats will look brilliant but the chances of playing a defence-splitting ball are effectively zero. Likewise winning back possession in dangerous areas. Unfair comparison maybe, but look at how Madsen has changed his game from last season: he now plays quick passes around the press, receives the ball under pressure, looks to bring others into play. Varane is desperately looking to retain possession by offloading it to the defence rather than looking for a give and go, switch or forward pass. |
