Fearsomely in-form Boro too hot for QPR to handle – Report
at 21:05 14 Dec 2025

Yeah, I agree they win that game whatever, but we could have made it harder. The scoreline really flattered us. It was definitely the day for an extra body in midfield.
Also, when we were getting totally overrun in the first half, we gave away 3 free kicks. I want us to be a bit nastier then that when we're getting embarrassed.

In defence of Smyth, at least he's got us up the pitch.
Burrell, Kone have offered nothing, saito and rnd have been rank and need hooking.

What are people’s thoughts on the Club pulling out all the stops in January ?
at 10:31 13 Dec 2025

I'm on the 'we're doing something right, so let's keep doing it' in terms of player recruitment at least. The development bit seems to have taken a bit of a back seat at the moment (Although you can also develop and sell on pretty much all our actual signings).
But it does seem that part of the successful (to date) summer plan was Edwards and a new keeper......

Explains why Gavin Maguire has never gone into club ownership, anyway.

I really like him, and I was one of those who thought he would be a bad signing.
Should we make his deal permanent? For me it really depends on the likelihood of him physically being able to play the majority of games in a season, and how likely he is to pick up another serious injury.

I'm generally quite supportive of Varane, but his performance was unacceptable yesterday. I don't know just how many times Mattson took the ball off him.
But Nardi, from their first corner when he came flying out and missed the ball completely, Norwich knew they were on to something. Opposition teams know they can drop the ball on the 6 yard line, and he's staying put. Hamer does come off his line, albeit he's a keeper I never rated. But I do think the opposition will target Nardi more then Hamer, and I do think the defence looked particularly unsettled yesterday.
But the club knew this about Nardi, and didn't adequately replace him in the summer.

Corners were terrifying today, and added to Nardi's inability to deal with balls coming into the box, is having Saito, Chair and Dembele helping defend set pieces. I wonder if one of the reasons for picking Field over RND is his ability in the air.

Hayden is a bit over-rated imo, in his first spell here he ended up losing his place to Field, a player itk's had told us was far inferior to him.
But....we can't continue with 4-2-4. Its OK if we can get on the front foot, but when we don't, and the lack of physicality and height in those behind the striker, it doesn't work. 3 in midfield would allow Madsen to push up, we know he can hurt teams.
Saito, Chair, Smyth, Dembele and Poku...the pressure to play them (a substantial amount of ££ invested), our unbalanced squad., has created a problem.
There is real talent in this squad, but it hasn't really been seen on the pitch, and I think this reflects the lack of balance in the squad.
And yesterday, the chaos from corners, the nervousness of the defence, I don't think we can play Nardi again. That defence looked so unsettled.,

He's too slow to be able to gain the space to make the pass.
He's too slow to pick, unfortunately

Watched the game. Philogene doesn't do away games, Gary Rowett is a very good manager, and all Ipswich's chopping and changing leaves them a but disjointed. Hmm.
Interesting listening to Gabriel Suttons podcast the other day, that a couple of teams who started the season bang on it, playing high intensity football, are starting to suffer from injuries now. I suppose it adds some meat to Williams methods, although I still think we were inexcusably short of fitness for the first few matches.
Someone from Charlton mentioned how unfit Kelman appeared to be when he joined up with them this season.

Disappointed, saddened, by this. I've been supportive of some of the changes at the club, but on this I can't any good reason for Furlong to he moved on. The best thing that has happened under Nourry is the transformation of the whole 'other ages' set up at Rangers, and Furlong has been integral in the success of that.

It's not a dichotomy to think that the rich, and particularly the 1%, should pay more, but also that as we live in a world economy, with Dubai, Portugal, Milan etc flirting with our rich, that we have to be very careful. The laffer curve is real.
I resent the implication that you're a rich person's lackey if you understand this. The same argument was used in the run up to brexit. The 'if you don't think the same way as me you must be thick' approach to debating doesn't actually win many people over from the opposing view, surprise surprise.
One of my kids has done very well for himself and is in the £80-£100k bracket. He is paying an eye-watering amount in tax and student fee repayment.
He, and a significant number of people he knows, are looking at moving away, fed up with tax, what their tax is spent on, cost of housing, cost of living, crime etc etc.
We need to keep our brightest, our entrepreneurs, those who can drive our economy forwards.
Personally, I resent my taxes being spent on buying brand new cars for people who would like one but don't need one (As opposed to the truly disabled), and I resent my taxes being used to subsidise the rich (I thoroughly recommend Guy Standing's "The corruption of capitalism ").
Rant over.

Eze bags a hat trick

This, but with added bitter and twisted.

One day, he'll fly too close to the sun and crash back down to earth. Its then that he finally realises what truly matters in life, and the penultimate scene is him walking up the weedy path to the little tumbledown cottage he once called home, and the door being opened by the old, humble but wise couple who raised him up from the gutter and taught him the lessons that really matter in life.

Two pretty ordinary games later as the cries of 'fecking lazy #@#t' roll down from the Elkersie, Ebs knows he's really home.
