The article says that was the aim. But based on what the guys in charge were saying at that time (fans forum in September 2023) and Hoos on a podcast (can’t remember which one), there weren’t the benefits of doing so. Something has changed in my view. |

Yet we took 2 years to decide to do it?

We only made the decision to try to get to Cat 1 last year. Pretty certain Hoos was saying that Cat 2 wasn’t worth it about a year before he moved “upstairs”. In any event, he may be proved right. Let’s hope not. |

But won’t Cat 1 status help us keep hold of them? But as I said, we won’t know whether all this is working for a few years. |

Ben held his own well there i thought. Dave is wrong to say going to Cat 1 is just a continuation of the progress from before. The previous regime said on many occasions that they saw no benefit of going to Cat 1 and we’d remain Cat 2. Whether going to Cat 1 is the right move, we will only know in a few years.
Was interesting that Ben said he says “elite” because he’s talking about -U16s and below. Interesting because that’s my son’s age group and has friends in other academies who say our players are good. Anyone know what results we have at that level? I’ve no idea other than what Ben said here. |

It’s not about who we signed though or who they signed. It’s cooking books to boost your revenues to sign these players. We just signed players we couldn’t afford without “cooking” the books. Both wrong but theirs is far worse than ours. And on a ridiculous scale. |

We overspent and breached the rules but I don’t think we tried to hide anything or mislead the regulators? |

Nice to see a right back and left back play right back and left back. Lewis Hall was excellent. Is Harry Kane the only English centre forward that exists? I like Kane but blimey, surely someone else deserves a go now and then. |

We’ve not won a trophy since 1966, yet quite a few fans seem not bothered about this competition. Look at the Spanish, they just won World Cup, they don’t seem to be taking it lightly. And neither should we. Play your best side. And if players “withdraw” late with a track record of doing so, they shouldn’t be selected for the next squad. |

I think probably Isak playing causes less disruption to the side as more natural in that forward midfield role. Other option is Lloyd and go with 2 up front. I would like to have seen Saito replace Vale but not sure he was “fit” enough to start. |

Varane was sent off after he was taken off. Think he should be on plane home no? No point hanging around. |

Fans in US sports, giving each person around them the “high five” when they score a touchdown or whatever. |

We have a 100% record when we have played the song written by those young lads……if it means we win…. |

100% agree. That last part is especially bang on. Fingers crossed we can be ready to go with few more back come West Ham. |

Well if he’s close to full training now, would be amazing if he wasn’t available in December and we’ve only named 24 players as said above |

Completely agree. Can see he’s getting more and more confident in his body after the injury issues. Got all the attributes to be brilliant player for us. And humble too. |
