"Owners should spend what they wish. FFP/PSR is a racket designed just to protect the top three or four clubs"

If that's the case then the fans need to accept that. No bitchin' or whining about a "Blackburn' or a 'QPR' or a 'Wrexham' and so on. The thing is though, they will.

It's been an evil in the game for decades. Blackburn were bank-rolled to success by their wealthy owner and everyone cried 'foul'.

So, what do we do... let it be a free-for-all where a clubs success is based on how much money their owner is willing to spend whilst it completely distorts reasonable competition and player transfer fees & salaries or do we try and find a level playing field.

Most people I think were for the latter but it's clearly been something quite difficult to actually carry out as people will just find a way to bend the rules, legitimately or otherwise.

I was lucky to be there too and in the upper tier not far from the black netting. One minute we’re getting slit throat gestures then a minute later they wanted to hug us.

Where I was sitting there were mixed messages, some people ‘hearing’ Bolton got a last minute penalty.

I’m glad we didn’t need a point to survive as could not see us getting out alive!

Clickbait/ragebait sites on Facebook now stirring schit that the Man City V QPR game should be investigated and it's all full of Man U fans frothing at the mouth but forgetting (conveniently) that losing at WIgan (Wigan ffs) a few weeks earlier, losing themselves at Man City a few weeks earlier, and twice losing at 2 goal lead at home to Everton to end up drawing the game cost them the title.

Just a better result in any one of those three games and they'd have won the title yet apparently it's all a conspiracy in that Man City v QPR game, a game where City battered us for 90 mins.

If, and it's sill a big if IMO, QPR did take their foot of the gas once they heard about the Stoke/Bolton game... so what. They don't owe anything to City or Utd, their responsibility is to QPR and the fans and once safety was secured they probably didn't give a schit about the game then.

I was at Twickers for the ladies rugby and now watching another great game (on TV).
England done really well to overturn an early set back but it’s such an open game either team could win it. How football should be. No parking the bus. No slowing the game down to a snails pace just two teams wanting to win.

Will that have any meaning though to the Club and fans?

Lets say it was us (I know I know).... great cup run, got to Wembley, lost 1-0. Then 15 years later someone says, actually, it's yours now. I'm not sure about everyone else but it would very much for me be a bit 'meh' especially as there was no European football to show for it either.

Why are Spurs so crap?
at 13:44 25 Sep 2026

Spurs finished 17th in the 2024-2025 season and he left 4 months later. Maybe it wasn't down to him or maybe it was, which is why he got the boot, but the rot did start while he was there.

I have read suggestions that his focus (for extra income revenue) was taken away from the footballing side and onto other things such as the concerts, NFL etc.

Either way, it's stark warning that a bigger stadium doesn't guarantee success. Arsenal's success in the first 10 years of the Emirates is pale compared to the last 10 years at Highbury.

What it does cause those is when you are relying on such massive incomes streams, you've got to maintain those streams just to stand still once you've committed to outgoings (especially player contracts/salaries). The minute any of those income streams go away, if they're not replaced with at least like-for-like, you're now going into a deficit.

Anyway, it's funny as fk. I have nothing against Spurs but it just goes to show that all these promises clubs makes about needing a new stadium (with inevitable inflated ticket prices) in order to 'move forward', 'win silverware' etc. can slap them back in the face.

Levy done a runner 'cos he built the whole 'project' based on everything but the actual football... new stadium, concerts, NFL and so on. Totally fked the football side up.

I believe the rules on spending are different (i.e. more loose) in the lower Leagues so with the right influx of cash any team should be able to advance but once you get to the Championship it's a whole different gravy.

As said, if they don't get promoted this or next season (even that may be too long for the must-have-everything-now world we live in) the interest could indeed wain with natural consequences in regards to sponsors, players they can attract etc.

That, to be fair, is comedy gold!

I do find this circus surrounding Wrexham a bit OTT but then I have to remind myself that was us once (although in a different manner).

Raheem Sterling arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after crashing his car
at 12:14 16 Sep 2026

Sorry, but I'm sick & tired of hearing how something that happened to someone in the past is somehow an excuse. Boo-hoo, life's a cnt. We've all had stuff happen to us.

Infantino has recently being saying he was bullied as a kid.... so? does that give him the right to treat everyone else like schit? It's just a poor excuse IMO.
I was bullied as a kid, had a torrid time, but I don't go around all entitled and treating everyone else like schit because of it.

Quite the opposite and I instil in my own kids who are now growing up that I will 100% support them if they retaliate due to being bullied but I'll come down on them like a ton of bricks if they initiate bullying.

These footballers have £millions. They can hire a driver, then can get the best help/support available but no, they choose to jump in a car and inhale a schitload of stuff then drive off. Sympathy? Bollox to that.

We all hate it when we feel hard done by. Wasn't boro's goal on Saturday offside? (I've not actually seen it but seen comments it was) but he acts like he's the only one it happens to.

Yes, decisions like that could get a manager sacked (see Graham Taylor's comment to a ref many years ago) further down the line as a result as a series of negative results but he's an absolute over-dramatic melt.

Here we go again.... it's going to be a long season on here.

Every time we don't win a game it'll be"the wrong starting XI, the wrong tactics, the wrong subs" and so on. Comments you generally don't get when a game is won.

As I've illustrated many times on here, in order to win more games than you draw & lose, you'll need to finish top 5. Anyone finishing under top 5 will draw & lose more games than they win and from this season that'll easily get you into the play off.

Same when we conceded first, especially in the first 20 mins or so..... cue meltdown despite there still being 70+ minutes of the game to go.

Superb win at a place we have had dismal results at on the whole.

Edward’s in midfield seems to be working well as I was concerned about letting Field go.

442, jumpers for goalposts….
