Yes it is despairingly dull playing the same teams and even more so if you keep losing to teams like Norwich and Southampton. The other issue is seeing teams come up from league 1 and getting to the Premier league like Sunderland, Ipswich, and Luton and there is every chance Coventry and maybe Wrexham will get there this season. In the meantime we are still stuck in our hole as others walk all over us. Even teams who don't go up after arriving from league 1 aggravate me. Portsmouth took 6 points off us last season, we lost both games at Derby with non performances, two goalless soul destroying slit your throat meetings with Oxford that were anti football. Then there is Charlton, they go to Sheffield Utd and win, we lose 2-0 at home to United, they win at Ipswich, we lose 4-1 at home to Town, they win at Leicester, well at least we won 4-1 at home , they win at Middlesbrough, while we lose 4-0 at home to Boro. Now that is depressing seeing a team arrive from league 1 and beat teams, Leicester excepted, that we usually lose against. People can say there was some improvement at one point this season but for me improvement will be in the form of beating sides we struggle against. If we only average 30-35% possession in games it may be enough to defeat Hull, Preston and Bristol City but it means against better sides like Boro, Ipswich, Sheffield Utd and Southampton you are more likely to lose. I think we need to double our possession stats to ever challenge at the top again. Easier said than done. |

Perhaps we need a mid season break like in some countries to get our delicate flowers back to fitness. Very unfair to make us play through the winter without 8 of our players. What we need to do is to take on everyone at Bodo Glimt. They have better owners, better players, a better manager and are run so much better as a club. It looks as though this small community club are going to reach the last 8 of the Champions League |

As I said elsewhere I couldn't bring myself to watch. More fun seeing Chelsea lose 5-2 but I was impressed looking at the half time stats that Brum were 14-0 up on shots with 4 on target. How we expext to win games by not shooting is a great mystery. Not done very well in the West Mids this season losing at Brum, Albion and Coventry. Add Wolves next season to replace Coventry. |

Boro wiped the floor with us and won 7-1 on aggregate while Charlton drew 2-2 on aggregate with them recording a 13th clean sheet tonight. Seems like they can defend a bit better than us. Tonight I couldn't be bothered to watch the inevitable defeat but I did note at half time the shot count was 14-0. As I pointed out months ago, the whole ethos of the game is to score goals but if we don't want to shoot then we are in the wrong sport. |

The last two defeats can be viewed as a team either on the beach or downed tools on the manager. We looked more like a league 2 struggling team than league 1. It doesn't seem that long ago that Swansea looked to be in trouble but now we trail them by 5 points. Some of us were confident Millwall and Hull would drop out of the play off places but after tonight's results, Hull are now 9 points clear of 7th place. They have this strange habit of losing at home and then winning away. By comparison we can't sustain any sort of challenge and we endure the same slop season after season. Time to change the club badge to snakes and ladders. Whenever we get near the top of the ladder, we jump on a snake and slide back down to where we came from. |

Yes before the game Lee Hendrie stated he felt sorry for QPR with the list of injuries so he knew what was coming. That is two games in quick succession where it has been a non competitive game from us for the neutral observer watching on Sky. I believe I have been one of the complainers about us for many years so perhaps a few more people will start to understand where I have been coming from. We ran aground years ago and are going nowhere. I did say in the Southampton report comments that we should consider disbanding as a football club and try a different sport. A Middlesbrough fan online commented that he thought we were a rugby team as we kept kicking the ball into touch. So maybe we should take up rugby we should be good at kicking the ball over the bar for 3 points. 11-2 to Boro in our last three meetings now, never mind the 11-0 in our last three games. Only a matter of time before Norwich and Charlton move above us. I hear tales Charlton are poor but they have managed 12 clean sheets against our 9 and have a good chance of finishing above us as we appear to have given up on this season. |

It should be taken into account that when we beat Coventry they were having their worst spell of the season in terms of away games after Christmas. If we were to play them now we would lose as they have returned to form on their travels. A lot of it relies on catching someone on a loss of form. If we had played Norwich and Southampton the first time a few weeks earlier we may have won when they were in dreadful form with their previous managers. Sadly for us both clubs changed manager's shortly before playing us and look what happened, we lost 2-1 at home to Southampton and 3-1 at Norwich. Timing can be very important in this league. Now is a good time for relegation battlers Portsmouth and Leicester to play us as not only are we a bad side with half the team missing but it looks like we are on the beach already as if we have nothing to play for. Some will say we have a chance against Birmingham as they probably won't make the play offs but in my opinion, Birmingham see themselves as a big club and they have standards so it is still difficult to see us do the basics as well as them if we have no standards. We will need to score first to get anything. A lot has been said how we have lost 11-0 in the last three matches but we have also lost something like 11-2 in our last three games against Middlesbrough. The top 3 don't have parachute money just like us so it shows our player recruiting is lousy. I fear that unless we spend £8-£10 million on a player like Wrexham then we are stuffed. We can't produce our own players and we struggle to improve players bought for up to £4million as they always seem injury prone so we have to sell at a loss. We can't buy improvements and we can't copy Brentford's model so we are stuck in this doom and gloom loop. |

I gave my opinion after the Saints debacle so no point in repeating it all again even though this was a repeat non performance. Once again go two down and time to give up. Having lost 4-1 at home to Boro last season we might have learnt something if we still had Marti but changing the manager and the players shows no improvement. We have no B team so it is crucial we keep players fit which seems beyond us. We could win 3-0 at Boro with Warnock but now we look non league when we face them. Boro don't have parachute payments, like Coventry, but they build good squads while we continue our doom loop of returning back to where we started near the bottom as another season fizzles out. |

I agree we are now a league 1 club in stature but I don't think we are Premier league material if I have given that impression. What I have been harping on about is that we can only compete in the top division with significant investment and having people in who know what they are doing. Fulham and Chelsea are where they are because Al Fayed and Abramovich pumped money into them over time transforming their fortunes. City and Newcastle were mid table sides but now they play in the Champions League. Wrexham would still be in the doldrums if they didn't get the investment they has propelled them through the leagues. We are not well run to do a Brentford on current evidence, to build up the club where they can win five of their last six away Premiership games. So assuming we never get a fairy godmother to provide the funds, then it is going to be a constant fight to stay up and consequently, there will be negligible improvement year on year. I may be a bit tongue in check but if we can't beat big clubs, can't beat parachute payment clubs, can't beat teams fighting relegation and can't beat London clubs then perhaps we are in the wrong sport. Maybe end the football club and reinvent ourselves as a hockey club as we might be better at it. I try to put aside being a fan and see how we look to neutrals and we look like we are stuck in a dead end trapped in mediocrity. It is just my opinion so I won't argue on here with those who think I am overly pessimistic as we all have differing views but sadly money is the key ingredient in today's game and has caused a seismic imbalance between various clubs. It seems like a long time ago but think back to 15 years ago when Warnock led us to the Championship title and we could win 3-0 at Middlesbrough and beat Sheffield United 3-0 home and away. These clubs walk all over us now on the pitch and we can't compete with them while we remain static with barely any quality to speak of. We have never got anywhere near the team of 2010-11 in the last 10 years. |

There are times with our levels of fitness, that we look like an amateur team of part timers up against fitter full time professional clubs. Maybe our training standards are below scratch who knows but clubs with the bigger budgets will get the best players and the have nots scrabble around trying to create a competitive squad. |
 | Forum Reply | Sheffield United Reflection at 20:33 28 Feb 2026
Whenever we play Sheffield Utd I see comments that they are a strong team but never see that said about us. It doesn't feel that we ever do anything about this and just pick up more small waif like types who are injury prone. Pompey brought in a couple of signings who have scored whilst our January signing appears to have got injured arriving and can't play. We pay peanuts and get faulty goods cast off by other clubs like Saito. Perhaps it's my imagination but whenever we play at Bramall Lane early in the season we do ok but always lose the return at home as by then we usually find ourselves in another crisis by the time the Blades show up. Like I say I might have that wrong brought about by a crushed belief that it will ever get better. |
 | Forum Reply | Five-star Saints whitewash wretched Rangers – Report at 17:31 26 Feb 2026
The thing I noticed about the fifth goal was how our man actually pulled out of the challenge on the edge of the box allowing a free hit on goal. It rather summed up the cowardly abject display of the whole team. Of course the parachute money plays a big part in this league but we do surrender far too often against these sides the moment we go two down. The sheer amount of tonkings we have been getting have, in the most part, been against richer clubs or at least bigger clubs. We do seem to have an inferiority complex embedded in the club. I feel as though I should already be preparing myself for 5-0 defeats to Wolves and Burnley next season at least in one of the two meetings with each side. I look at Millwall and see a club with limited funds like us but I can't imagine them losing 7-1 or 5-0 against clubs with big money behind them. They don't lose a game or two heavily each season like us. We make it so easy for the opposition at times. Not only do we suffer embarrassing big defeats like on Tuesday and early cup exits but we also specialise in not beating teams in the relegation dogfight. It just rolls on year after year, decade after decade and nobody seems capable or wants to change it. Our motto should be shit happens, we simply shrug our shoulders and carry on as before. We simply exist to make up the numbers as though we are an amateur club in a professional league. I am viewed as a fossil for pointing out this club is dying on it's feet going nowhere because we need funds to change it like other clubs have done with investment over time. I notice Middlesbrough have now gone off the boil so no doubt they will get back on track when they visit us and without Madsen I would suggest we have no chance. There is no way he will be back fit that soon. Our season will now fizzle out defeated by an injury crisis probably of our own making. |

Watching Austin and Mackie last night they put all the blame on the result on the players and not the manager. We all know we don't have the funds to bring in quality's when we face teams with parachute money we seem to surrender. Charlton are no better financially than us but at least they played with some pride at Southampton to earn a point after the first half tonking they took at the Valley against them earlier in the season. Charlton also won 3-0 at Ipswich. In contrast we are torn apart by Ipswich at home and Saints could have scored more than five if they put their mind to it. Same happened last season with Burnley when we lost 5-0 at home. We seem to fight in one meeting and give up in the other meeting over two games. I guess Stephan has done well in that we have not been in any relegation danger this season despite three very bad Sheffield Wednesday style defeats. The trouble is we remind me of Coventry who managed to constantly stay up for decades in the top flight but once they dropped they haven't yet been back. It just feels inevitable we will go down at some point in the coming years as we simply don't improve. There is a lot wrong with the playing side of the club with many unwanted records set of late. In a quarter of a century we have only won 8 away London derbies. Portsmouth won at our place last season and this month won at Charlton and Millwall so three away wins in London. Perhaps they can loan us Mousinho for future away derbies to teach QPR managers how to win away in London. |

That was shockingly bad. The goals we let in were appalling and that is the players responsibility. They didn't play for the badge and looked guuless and afraid of Southampton as if we were not fit to be on the same pitch. Charlton got a point there on Saturday. Another hammering like Coventry and Ipswich. Is that 6 defeats to the Saints in the last six meetings? At what point will someone get to grips with this propensity to concede either side of half time? One Saints player free in the 6 yard area to head in a corner while our dummies stand there effectively ending the contest in the first half. Five down after 70 minutes and fortunate Southampton eased up or it could have been worse than Coventry. We just seem to give up and throw in the towel which suggests this season will now fizzle out without Madsen to hold it together. |

Pompey winning 3-1 away to both Charlton and Millwall in 6 days showing us how to win away in London. We will have to be careful we don't lose at home to them again as it seems they brought in some useful signings in January. Was this the second time that Wrexham came from 3-2 down to win 5-3 this season? I seem to recall they did the same to Sheffield Utd. Five different scorers for them today. They seem to take their chances which will be a good trait to have in the run in. Good win for us today but can we beat the Saints who seem to beat us all the time these days no matter how ordinary they might be? |

To be fair to us the first two Pompey goals at Charlton were fortunate. The keeper let the first one go straight through him, the sort of mistake he wouldn't do against us, and the second goal came from a dodgy penalty award which we would not have been given for a similar incident. I see the commentators of the Qarabag v Newcastle game managed to wangle in a mention of our nightmare defeat to Blackburn at the weekend as if it had any relevance to the Champions League... |
 | Forum Reply | QPR hand O’Neill perfect start as Blackburn boss – Report at 19:50 16 Feb 2026
We should remember that Blackburn have won more away games than we have. Earlier in the season they had won five away by mid November but it was their home form that was the problem. We have been poor for years dictating the play which is probably why we have struggled at home in previous seasons from not being able to take the game to the away side. We did better away from sitting back and taking the few chances we got hence we could win 2-1 away at Burnley and Leicester but we did lose the home fixtures. This is the first season for years we look better at home but we still struggle with possession and controlling games. It has been unlucky for us that Norwich and Blackburn changed their manager's just before we played them so we lost both 3-1. We have been bad since Christmas and so too have Coventry. This often happens where teams have a good first half to the season and a poor second half and then you have the reverse with Norwich and Sheffield Utd doing much better in the second half of the campaign. |
 | Forum Reply | Why do we keep conceding immediately after half time?? at 21:53 14 Feb 2026
It does my head in but it is more a home game defect or at least it seems that way. Today we concede in the 50th minute effectively ending the contest when any other losing side would come out all guns blazing. Coventry took the lead in the 53rd minute with one of only two efforts on target and Wrexham equalised in the 54th minute. Our manager must really inspire the lads at the interval or maybe some of the players have been betting against us like on the time of Wrexham/ Coventry's first goal. If we don't concede early in the second half, we are not averse to conceding just before half time instead! I guess we are good at something after all... |

Only a matter of time before normal service is resumed with Sheffield Utd and Norwich going above us. It never ceases to amaze me how often we concede around 50-55 minutes at home. Whatever is said to these misfits at half time doesn't seem to register. What is the point boring people to death drawing 0-0 away only to follow up losing at home to both Wrexham and Blackburn conceding three goals in each game? We are excelling once again in not being capable of beating teams fighting relegation and having half the team crocked. Really am weary of this never ending season after season going nowhere tale of woe that regurgitates itself in slightly different forms. We are like a flu virus that changes slightly each winter but the end result of us feeling sick never goes away. |
