 | Forum Thread | Spygate 1 versus Spygate 2 at 13:53 30 Sep 2026
Let’s compare the FA’s handling of Spygate 1 and Spygate 2. The FA rule that has been in place since 2011 which covers both Spygate 1 (Bielsa) and Spygate 2 (Tonda) is FA Rule E3.1 (acting improperly or bringing the game into disrepute). The FA took exactly 38 days to consider and conclude its investigation into the Bielsa incident. On 11 January 2019 the FA officially announced it would be investigating the matter, less than 24 hours after a Leeds United staff member was caught outside Derby County's training ground. On 18 February 2019 the FA brought the case to a close. If you look at the number of clubs Bielsa openly admitted to spying on his offence is 8 times as bad as Tonda’s. Bielsa even made a Powerpoint presentation about it! The FA decided not to charge Bielsa with misconduct, choosing instead to issue formal warnings to Leeds United, Bielsa, and the club's video analyst. Our intern was caught spying on 7 May 2026, 147 days ago. The FA officially launched its investigation on 21 May 2026 which is 133 days ago. So why has it taken them 95 days longer (and counting) to judge a lesser offence using the same rule? There is something corrupt happening here and I hope our solicitors are on the ball with this. |

Looking at the rules surrounding Tonda’s potential FA punishment, I’ve heard a lot of people say that Bielsa didn’t get punished severely because there was no specific FA rule covering spying when Leeds were caught and there are rules now specifically related to spying. Well yes there are rules specifically related to spying now but they are EFL rules for which we’ve already been judged and punished There are no FA rules relating specifically to spying. Instead the FA deals with individuals and conduct related to spying by charging them with general misconduct, specifically FA Rule E3.1 (acting improperly or bringing the game into disrepute). This is the same rule that was in place 8 years before Bielsa was caught spying and admitted to personally spying on every team in the Championship The FA failed to take any sanctions against Bielsa or Leeds so I think they will struggle legally to give Tonda a ban for spying on 20 teams less than Bielsa |

Could it be that they’re going to be in a massive legal battle with Man City’s lawyers and don’t know what punishment to dish out to Tonda because it might end up being more severe than they end up dishing out to City 🤔 [Post edited 28 Sep 14:11]

It's absolutely relevant Shotters This is an FA investigation completely independent of the EFL and EFL Rules. We have already been judged, found guilty and punished by the EFL under the EFL Rule brought in after Bielsa openly admitted to spying on every team in the division. He was then independently judged by the FA based on just the fact that he was caught and openly admitted to personally spying on 23 other clubs. The FA found that there was nothing to answer. As for bullying, it's one persons opinion against anothers [Post edited 23 Sep 14:44]

Agree with that Southamptonfan. I suppose we've got to protect Leo and Larin (particularly Larin) so I can understand subbing them Saturday is going to be another tough game for sure as Bristol City are flying as well and better away this season so far. A win against them would be a massive confidence boost. Top two is achievable but is going to be tough. The biggest threat to that is the corrupt clowns at the FA |

I thought Schlotterbeck had another very good game and it's hard to believe he hasn't even been at the club for two weeks yet. I'd like to see him and Abbott play alongside each other. I've a mate who's a Forest fan who rates him highly and I think Schlotterbeck could really bring him on |

Just beaten a very good Swansea team full of confidence 3-1 If it hadn’t been for the 4 point deduction we’d be top on goal difference by 2 goals |

I'm not sure what date the deadline is Pat but I imagine it's gone The new 25-Man Squad Rule is: • Clubs can register a maximum of 25 senior players (aged 21 or over). • Homegrown Quota: At least 8 players must be homegrown (trained in England/Wales for 3+ years before turning 21). • Under-21s: Permanent U21 players don’t count toward the 25-man limit. • Loans: Any loan player, regardless of age, must be included in the 25-man squad. |

I'm sure an independent EFL disciplinary panel consisting of Neil Bausor, Bob Mortimer and Mrs Hellberg will rule in their favour |
 | Forum Thread | The FA charge against Tonda at 12:19 7 Sep 2026
As I understand the independent FA disciplinary hearing to determine Tonda's punishment is scheduled to take place in mid-September but no date has been scheduled yet WTF is taking so long? It smacks of incompetence by the FA as well as something a bit more sinister. Perhaps they’re waiting to see how many points we are behind Middlesbrough Anyone got any news? |

Luuk de Jong is a free agent. He's recovered from an injury which kept him out last season Okay he's 36 but if we managed him like we did Stewart he could do a job. I reckon he'd take a pay-per-game deal Career stats - 283 goals and 148 assists in 665 games |
