The 'head-it-and-kick-it centre back performance for the ages from Jimmy Dunne' reminded me so much of the one by his countryman and namesake Richard in the Play-Off Final. Great to have him leading the team by example.
Fantastic save. Bearing in mind the match time, it probably ensured them an extra two points, which could make all the difference at the end of the season.
For the past couple of seasons Alan sat near me in the East Paddock wheelchair user section up until he recently went into hospital. He always had a friendly hello for fellow fans in that section. He will be missed.
I remember a match on the plastic pitch in 1986 where Spurs beat us 5-2 (Clive Allen scored 2 for them) and Hoddle was outstanding. Always seemed to play well against us even in his later years as a sweeper for Swindon.
Thanks Clive for articulating so well what many of us feel after Thursday.
As a season ticket holder for more than 45 years I tend not to get too up or down after very good or very bad performances as the other extreme will usually follow shortly behind. However, this 'performance' has really pi**ed me off.
I can only think it's because like many I sensed an upward trend as our recent recruitment seemed to bring in the 'right sort' of players and I hoped that as they gelled and developed we would steadily improve. However the matches since Boxing Day and especially Thursday have shown the opposite with players such as Vale, Morgan, Saito, Kone and even Burrell regressing. I can't believe we had a debate on here less than 2 weeks ago if a fit Chair would get back in the team.
I do worry about tomorrow (Sheff Wed 8.6 on Betfair Exchange!) and hope Julien and the team prove me wrong in the second half of the season by performing a positive turnaround from the Christmas debacle but my current expectations are low.
Happy New Year to All on LFW and a big Thank You to Clive and all involved in keeping this site running. We are very lucky to have such an informative and enjoyable fan-run site. May it long continue.
