Unless the injuries kill next season as well...

January transfer rumours

He needs to play games. We're not going down. If his second half of the season looks like his first we've burned a year off somebody we're meant to be developing.

He also needs to prove he can play 20 games without getting injured. He's the softest Glaswegian centre back I've ever seen.

My Grimsby mates like him. Say he's rapid. More pace, never a bad thing.

Dembélé new boo boy?

Until Leicester him and Josh Murphy were the two Championship players who'd had the most shots without scoring a goal.

Dembélé new boo boy?

This is an important point.

I struggle a lot with Dembele. His defensive cover work is appalling, it's basically non-existent. I still think, overall, he is too small, and too light, he gets bullied off the ball too easily. I didn't like his behaviour in the Sheff Wed game. And he's right near the top of the list of players who played out of their skin against Leicester because the previous manager had perhaps told them some home truths they didn't like, and then immediately regressed again afterwards.

However... None of our wingers are playing well, are they? Saito's looked absolutely bereft lately. Vale started well, faded away. In the Sheff Wed game whenever we crossed the halfway line our wingers 'inverted' so much they were basically our two most central players, taking all the width out of the side.

Probably got to ask a few questions of the manager and the system, given that they're all playing pretty poorly together at the same time.

We said similar on the train. Just made it his business to win every header that came in our box.

I agree with Simmo and echo his post. Bleak watching us shithouse and play act our way to a 0-0 at Stoke, which does what? Nothing. We actually moved further away from the play offs with that result.

But, in the interests of being positive, Jimmy Dunne was magnificent today. He’s had a great Christmas in difficult cercs. Made it his business to win every header today. I like that.

The club do need to learn from it though, and improve. Not shunt out favourable statistics and “data” to pretend it’s not happening and not a problem. Because the Christmas schedule next season won’t be any different, and if we come out of it with one win and 10 first teamers injured we won’t be making the play offs next year either.

That's a shame to hear mate. I don't always agree with what you say, and I'm sure likewise with me, but I always know it's coming from a genuine, good place of QPR support and wanting the best for the club. It's also always delivered thoughtfully and respectfully.

I made sure we had Matt on as one of our first guests on the podcast this season because I think it's important to hear all sides of opinions and arguments (the only site/podcast that's done this so far I believe), but I did say to him on that show it feels a little bit odd to be told that we should not criticise, just trust the people running the club and treat QPR as a nice day out with the kids by somebody whose family have been just about the most prominent and vocal critics of multiple QPR regimes over the last 30+ years.

No, I don't think we've helped ourselves at all, and the amount of muscle, soft tissue and hamstring injuries we're picking up is not right at all.

We lost four players before half time in that Sheff Wed game. That's not normal. I can't ever recall that happening before in my time watching Rangers. Three more at West Ham is seven in a week.

And like I say the schedule won't be any different next year, so take the criticism on board and work out how we can be better and improve next year. Don't try and double down using all sorts of spurious stats to back yourself up.

In defence of our club, there are lots struggling at the moment. Stoke tomorrow included.

The Christmas schedule isn't right.
