 | Forum Reply | Kone - too slow to go? at 10:28 7 Oct 2025
Chris Wood has made a decent fist of it. Mateta, Ivan Toney, Awoniyi. Going back a bit (and obviously talking about some ridiculous talents) but Robin Van Persie (certainly at Utd) wasn't particularly quick, Ruud Van Nistlerooy, Berbatov, Andy Carroll. Agree he could probably work on a bit more explosive speed and acceleration over a couple of yards, but with his movement and strength he's got all the tools to make the step up when the opportunity comes. |

I remember we were singing that about Dom Ball for a while, including at the pub with Dom Ball and all his mates before the England Italy Euros Final in 2021. |

Absolutely loved Celtic's chant a few years ago: "Cheer up Michael Beale, Oh what can it mean, To a fat orange bastard and a shite football team" [Post edited 7 Oct 9:35]

Would we have signed Kone if we hadn't sold Kelman though? Both very similar fees. Could imagine us going into the season with Kelman, Burrell, Frey instead which doesn't sound anywhere near as good. |

Can't see it. Just another warm body who can cover the position to avoid a repeat of the GK Injury Crisis of '22. |

I take your point, but I think the use of numbers has moved beyond the 2-3-5 and is only commonly used to define different midfield profiles and maybe a centre forward? Nobody uses 7/11 for wingers or numbers to define fullbacks. They're used to distinguish between different profiles of central midfield player which is why you can still play with two 6s behind a 10, or two 10s behind a striker like Beal with Illy & Willy. |

In Clive's interview with him, he definitely talks about playing more of a 4411 or 442 so I imagine we'll see it continue, especially with Chair, Poku, Smyth injured. Burrell has been too good to drop so let him and Kone build up a partnership there. I do feel that Stephane is very pragmatic and will go horses for courses, chopping and changing as required. Frey & Kone would be a pretty hilarious strike partnership and not one that any CB pairing would enjoy playing against. |

No. Nothing wrong with people using numbers to refer to different profiles of midfielder. Less wordy than holding midfielder/box-to-box midfielder, attacking midfielder as well. |

In my early 20s I flew to Sri Lanka via Norway on an overnight flight and having only really flown short-haul before, was amazed to discover that beers were complimentary. Proceeded to spend the full 10 hours on the pish, ordering 2 and then 4 beers at a time while the rest of my family and the plane slept. By the time we were ready to land, the air hostess said she'd run out of cold cans, bringing me a glass bottle instead. Going through Sri Lankan customs at 6am local time absolutely tanked up was an experience - my old man was not impressed. |
 | Forum Reply | Have you ever caught the ball at a game? at 10:14 1 Sep 2025
We played Exeter City in a pre-season friendly back in 2013 - the ball got blazed into the crowd and I caught it, immediately wrapping it up in a jumper and pretending I hadn't seen it. It's still somewhere at home now. I also conjured up a plan to try nick a ball off one of the ball boys at the end of our pre-season against Barnet at The Hive a few years ago but bottled it - ended up just asking him if I could have one and he chucked one over to me! Cue charging around a bit pished having a kickabout on the pitches on the way back to the station, still in my suit having come straight from work. |

And so often a player we've already had on loan. Are Saito, Hayden, and Edwards really the exact profiles we need for the right money? |
 | Forum Reply | Dev and ladies on the move at 17:15 27 Aug 2025
The pitch can only hack so much use, before it really cuts up. Seen it get pretty muddy after a bit of wet weather - without getting any time to recover, it would be mullered for first team games. |

Isn't there talk about spending £4m on Ronnie Edwards on another thread? Can hardly plead poverty this year, with some of the money we've thrown about. It's certainly not parachute/Birmingham/Wrexham levels, but we've definitely thrown a few quid about this summer. |
 | Forum Reply | The QPR summer transfer rumours thread at 15:41 21 Aug 2025
No, but Morrison, Mbengue, Cook, JCS (lol), Dunne (although leaves us short at RB), and Field potentially are all options before getting on to Tylon Smith or Akindenli. Fullback cover where we currently have Dunne and Adamson on the right and Esqui on the left feels far more a priority where we are pretty bare bones. |
 | Forum Reply | The QPR summer transfer rumours thread at 14:38 21 Aug 2025
Ronnie Edwards is a class act, but I'm not sure I get the clamouring for him on here. Yes, he did brilliantly on loan and will likely progress, but it's not a position that is a priority for us and it would take budget away from bolstering the midfield and fullback positions. Just doesn't seem like the wisest use of limited funds IMO. |
 | Forum Reply | Injuries...... at 14:35 21 Aug 2025
Think that's a reflection on our squad depth more than his level. |
 | Forum Reply | Injuries...... at 13:39 21 Aug 2025
Agreed, although I think he probably needs a loan. He is only 17 after all. Tylon Smith on the other hand is the one probably closer to the 1st team - 20 and a lot more experience under his belt. |
