Went to Eastleigh to see them play Southport in the FA Trophy a cracking game ensued which could have been 5-5 given some great chances, but ended 2 -0 to Southport whose 14 fans present were very vocal the entire game

You are right the club do say that we are being directed to the turnstiles hence this thread, I have been trying to get an answer from them as to what is happening, so far the only reply I have had is to say that there will be external food units and bars at the coach parking area, they have yet to answer when i have said if that is the case then put it out on the website

Bazunu Leaves St Mary's ! Are Southampton Really Going To Gamble On An Inexperie
at 16:14 13 Jan 2026

Not at all clickbait or nickbait its about the club getting rid of an experienced keeper worth £8 million and replacing him with one that has little experience outside of Israel worth £1 million and hoping that he will turn out better.

When we didnt sign Armando Broja and replaced him with Sekou Mara cue frothing at the mouth.

Because we dont like Bazunu, its seen as progress

So Sport Republic selling a player of low value to Goztepe is far more of an example of a lack of ambition than selling the European footballer of the year ?

The Fan Advisory board is not exactly a fan group, it is not independent from the club, it is just a group of people who give their own opinions they do not represent anyone other than themselves individually.

It is better than nothing, but it is a sounding board for the club, nothing else.

There was no major trouble in the League cup, although a large group of Saints fans walked down Goldsmith avenue and major trouble was only averted due to a major police prescence.

Those that went on the train at around 6, which was the bulk of those on the train, found the train halted for an hour and arriving at Fratton Stationas the game started, there were no Pompey fans left on the street so no trouble, but we didnt get to the ground till 20 minutes after the game started.

I dont know why other clubs can play without all this rigmarole, I think its about the lay out of the grounds.

I saw something on you tube about the recent sunderland v newcastle game and many went by coach, but the rest were on special metro trains from newcastle that stopped at a station near the ground and then they held them there till they had enough to march them to the ground.

With Pompey basically it's just one road to the station and one road in if you come by coach or car

I dont think the fleecing the fans holds much water, at both grounds they are having to lay on outside food and catering to cater for the large amount of away fans, so getting a minimal pay off from that

At the meetings held, Pompey had fan groups represented, we have no city based fan groups, we have no representation, what we have and i am not pointing the finger at anyone on here, but at the collective saints support, is fans who will have a good moan about anything and everything on social media, but are not willing for form a fan group to represent the majority or to join one if it is formed.

I was at one of the meetings, to be honest most of those present agreed that this game would see major trouble if fans from both sides were allowed to just get on public transport at their own will.

That there would be major trouble and violence, as there has been at every game apart from, the bubble fixtures in 2011/12.

From a police perspective the cost of a bubble game was small when compared to the cost of policing a game without a bubble.

In many respects the two clubs did deliver a message rather than consult the fans, but truth is most agreed that if peace and non violence was the aim, then a bubble game was the best way to achieve it.

But even if we thought it was the wrong thing, from a Saints perspective we have no democratically constituted and elected fans group, so if anyone asks why a minority of fans are representing essentially their own views, then they have to consider that they and everyone else for that matter have done nothing to change that, someone has to get off their ar*e and form a supporters group as happened in 1993.

I agree with your last paragraph though, in 2011/12 the bubbles worked perfectly well, the coaches were escorted in and out without too much bother.

Everyone had a good shout and scream at each other in the ground, but no one got punched, no one got hurt and everyone went home safely, the restrictions that have been placed on this one are much too draconian

Truthfully in over 50 years of going to Saints games against Pompey both home and away, there has always been violent disorder.

I have to say though although Saints fans have sometimes been at fault, we haven't gone of the wrecking sprees and mindless violence that Pompey fans have traditionally revelled in.

Could you walk out of Southampton station and walk up the street to St Mary's in a Pompey shirt without being attacked, the answer is yes, Saints fans are not bullies

Could you walk out of Fratton Station and down Goldsmith Avenue to Fratton Park in a Saints shirt, absolutely not, you would be attacked within a minute .

That doesnt make them harder than us braver than us etc, more passionate than us, it just makes have more of a chip on their shoulder than us.

In April 1982 we played Coventy City at the Dell when Kevin Keegan lined up alongside new signing Keith Cassels, they starred in a pulsating 5-5 draw Keegan got 2, Cassels got 2 the first a glancing header and the 2nd a chip from 25 yards also crossed for Keegan's second.

We thought that we had the partnership that would win us the league the next season.

Turned out Keegan left for Newcastle and Cassels scored 2 goals in 13 appearances before being sold to Brentford at a loss.

Sport Republic are continuing the Southampton Way, not inventing it

They are now out in the open, I am still not sure why the coaches have to leave so early, also why we have to be there an hour in advance and i am concerned about the facilities when we arrive at Fratton Park

I didn't write Dom Ballard off, I felt that he was not as good as the other options that we had at the time, his path was blocked to the first team, his track record out on loan wasn't good over a couple of seasons, 45 games played and 6 goals scored, if he had come into our first team at any time last season he would have failed miserably and the fans would have been on his back, as they were on our other forwards who were also failing miserably.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but at the start of this season, Armstrong, Archer, Stewart & Downes all had far better track records than Ballard and at a higher level, he would have been 5th choice

it all added up to it was the best option for the player himself and the club for him to leave.

Im pleased to see him doing well

In the case of Sanda he had been out on loan for 4 months not two years, it's too early to tell, my reply was more about using him as an example of Sport Republic's devilish ways

Pat you are not Donald Trump , lets keep it real, if you put his name in AI then you get a 5 million euro transfer fee, but if you look at other articles written at the time, then you find it hard to find out the actual fee paid.

Some speculate that the transfer deal is "Worth 5 million euros, which suggests that if we are to pay that money, then he will have had to have met certain criteria, usually staged payments when he plays a certain number of games, so to hit the 5 million euros payment he will probably have had to have played 100 games and/or got a full international cap for France.

The reality is that we will have paid somewhere around £1 million euros which is around his value up front and the rest only if he succeeds.

We have bought potential, he only turned 19 in November, there arent many 19 year olds playing regularly in the top two divisions in England and indeed in Europe.

Our two sightings of him have been in the Premier League, two fairly short appearances as sub at Everton & against Arsenal, but he looked the part in them.

Whether he makes it or not we will see but FFS give him a chance, I don't know why he didn't get much game time at Red Star, I don't know what the French second division is like, but plenty of people have had loan spells as youngsters that aren't successful and then have returned to us to make their mark.

Cameron Bragg is a recent example, he couldn't even get into Crawley Town's League One matchday squad, let alone the bench after only 6 weeks at the club, before he was recalled in January 2025 to play in our U21 squad, yet now he is flourishing.

Lets give some of these youngsters a chance before we start using them as examples of where Sport Republic are failing, but if we do at least keep it real.

Older supporters will remember Jack Stephens signed from Plymouth in 2011, he made a fleeting 3 minute appearance in the FA Cup in 2012, spent much of the next 5 years out on loan, most of those not being that successful, before finally making his League debut for Saints aged 23, 5 years after his first sub appearance.

He went on to become a club legend, you have to give these youngsters time

Southampton At Doncaster Rovers The Verdict
at 13:52 12 Jan 2026

I focused on the errors because we are comparing goalkeepers and their ability to be our number 1, if we had signed an outfield player who had barely played in the last two year and whose only experience was 71 games in the Israeli league and bunged him into the first team, this message board would not be slagging Sport Republic off in all directions.

There have been plenty of posts that have made it clear they don't want him at any cost, he wasn't great in the 4-0 tanking but he was no worse than anyone else in the team that day, no one gave him leeway and said well he produced a worldy to get us a point against Millwall and likewise at Birmingham to get us a point, he had improved of late.

Because he will be in the last year of his contract and so we will want to shift him rather than keep him and then let him go for nothing

5 Things About Doncaster
at 12:07 12 Jan 2026

1 Good away support given the weather and our recent form, we had over 1/3 of the crowd in the stadium.

2. The yellow kit looked nice, they had captured the very light yellow colour of the 1976 shirt very well.

3. Not a lot of options around the ground for parking or drinking, the beefeater pub at the shopping centre was ok though, packed with Saints supporters but the bar staff were very quick and efficient.

4. Good to see Billy Sharp come on, also good to see him not score lol

5. The price of food in Burget King in the services coming home was atrocious, a Whopper meal with small fries and a drink was over £13

Ballard banging in the goals for Leyton Orient
at 21:45 8 Jan 2026

Youve proved my point, scoring shed loads in the academy leagues is no guarantee of success in the Championship and above,

Jimmy Jay Morgan a contemporary of Ballards, sold to Chelsea at the same time as Dibling, for about £3.5 million plus add ons etc.
Started this season valued at about £70k although with 4 goals for Peterborough it is now risen to £150k

He was meant to be be much better than Ballard.

I liked Ballard, im glad he has done well at Orient, but lets be honest we weren't creaming over him when he was failing to score at Blackpool & Cambridge who were hardly biting off our hands to sign him

How to become a Saints legend part 1.

Play a dozen or so games with no one suggesting that you are good enough for the League we are in, then leave for a League 1 club or a club in a minor European League and score handful of goals and before you know it you are being touted as a great player by those who previously ridiculed you

Signing for one of the biggest clubs in the world doesn't mean you are good enough to play for them, most of the big clubs tend to buy players to sell them on and be able to manipulate the financial fair play rule
