For context Green Man is a tenth of the size, lasts two days less, most bands are only played on evening shows on 6 music and costs about £325 this year. Festivals are an expensive business nowadays. |

It's desperately needed and only been planned since 2024. It was left to rot before that. The genius part of the plan is that we'll pay for it and National Grid shareholders will get a nice dividend. |

They'd have gone to prison for longer if either of those scenarios was the case. |

And that context is important. Some of these "hurty words" were encouraging people to set fire to hotels full of people. Tommo tried to sink a dinghy with a rescue worker on board. If Tommo was Muhammed and the hotel woman Fatima peolle would wznt them executed The motives don't matter, we need more prison spaces but can't afford them. What's the Bibby Stockholm up to nowadays. |

Unless we're talking about something different, and in my experience, it's not the case. I'm familiar with Erebus and Awel Y Mor off Wales, both awarded contracts in the last round . Neither connection is in place yet, but have permission and plans to do so relatively simply. No windfarm, no connection needed, No connection planned, no contract awarded. After that it's down to National Grid. The construction and maintence for Erebus and future, huge, off shore wind farms will be based at Port Talbot. 100's of secure, well paid jobs. The strike price is high, but the companies want to make a profit unfortunately. They're also on Crown Estate which is another matter. |

And now we're stuck. Milliband gets stick for spending on Clean energy 2030, but we have to. Otherwise we'll have built or partially built renewable power stations generating power that goes nowhere (Reform would be fine with this), there is no real alternative source of generation yet or without their own impacts. National grid won't invest because they'd lose millions and millions. Its the same with water, but the problems caused are less obvious than the lights going out so the government won't spend the cash either. The water companies won't because the cost would be billions and billions. |

But there is no strategic oversight, and any breach of planning legislation means things don't get built, and there is absolutely no need not to adhere to planning legislation with good project management. Key infrastructre should be provided by the state at least in part to maintain control, if they need or want to sell parts of it on that may be feasible but as things stand and is mentoned in that article:- "Britain’s electricity grid often cannot move all the power from where it is being generated to where it is needed" Natinol Grid is privately owned and listed in London and New York, making money for investors is their priority. It's bonkers. |

Which is exactly why they want to go overhead. These kind of things (water is another) are nationally important infrastructre. It shouldn't be exclusively private companies responsible for them |

But they can only get permission for what they apply for, that project should be fully aware of planning legislation, comply with it and getting consent should be forgone conclusion. That is what the planning system is set up to deal with - the problem is that this doesn't happen, to try and save cash. Then they need to sort a grid connection, effectively they're back to square one. The Mid Wales pylons are a key example, the easiest path to get planning is to put them underground. At least 3 years later they're still arguing the toss over putting 100's of KMS of pylons thorugh Mid-Wales with the local community, councils etc. But pylons are a lot cheaper. This connection won't be built before the early 2030's at the earliest. Only after this can they bid for a CFD allocation. NESO are last in the queue. It fails at the first hurdle because they try to cut cost to maximise profit, this may work to a certain degree in some places but just delays the entire system, sometimes by decades. |

Well the rest of Europe seems to be doing better than us - we've even had to contract the construction of our largest power station to the French state owned energy company. |

I don't think we were, the state ghe country is in has been a long time in the making. |

There hasn't been an attack or even a viable plan for an attack that's been stopped. It's pretty obvious there's intelligence for one being likely by either Iran or Russia. What does this have to do with Islam? |

I'm not sure what licences you mean? In general though they can only apporve what's applied for - they have no say on what projects are planned. From what I can see is there is a lack of strategic control, becasue there is nobody to have that control. The individual companies plan and build their power stations, then they look at connecting them to the grid - usually becasue that's the easiest path to follow, and because having the power station generating power puts pressure on others to ensure it's available. NESO, the only public body in this situation, don't get involved until it's too late. The devolved power solution mentioned in that article would likley be great for us in S Wales but may increase bills in places like London. |

The root cause of this is privatisation. Everything is done piece meal and usually very poorly project managed, with the aim of doing things as cheaply as possible. It doesn't work. We're the only country in Europe with generation and connection to the grid solely in private hands. The government owns NESO who balance demand but by that time it's far too late. And demonstrates why Reform's "net stupid zero" policy is probably the biggest backward step in UK infrastructre development in history. Just take a look at these proposals. It's absolutely essential, but is going to really struggle to ever be built. https://greengencymru.com/proj |

So this has this been proven? "It'll be extremely interesting whether the alleged Islamic terrorists are 'home grown' born and bred British, and if not, it will be extremely interesting how they actually arrived on U.K shores, and by by what method? Could you imagine if it comes out that they crossed over from France via small boat, and were given free tax-payer funded support and accommodation" It's likely that some shady character, acting on behalf of Iran, has paid them to dp this under some pretence. They aren't terrorists, may well not be Muslim and they weren't being watched by anyone. |

But you're considering all Muslims to be the same, they're not, Islam is at least as diverse as branches of Judaism and Christitanity. I know muslims who have dogs, some who occasionally drink and one who is a gay NHS Dr. They aren't all adherents to Wahhibism (akin to orthodox judaism) and not all Muslm countries are the same. Wahhibism is practiced in Saudi and Qatar, other forms elsewhere. It's very different to Bosnia and Turkey. All muslim countries practicing and interpreting Islam differntly. It's a bit like considering Amish to be the blueprint for a Christian society, and assuming Las Vegas would be the same. |
