I do find it interesting that we are selling our leading goal scorer in the middle of the season, when we want promotion, getting 10 million for him and only bringing in a loan player.
A case of reading between the lines?
Is Armstrong one of the trouble makers, along with Archer, Bazunu, Aribo all now out of the door? We played so well yesterday without Armstrong and Archer in the squad. That was interesting that the players didn't seem to care that he is going. In fact they seemed happy.
Do we need the money desperately?
The sudden appearance of Kat at Pompey? Is Solak getting in as much money before he leaves? The would make more sense only if we were also selling Harwood-Bellis wouldn't it?

Oh dear. Doesn't sound very good does he? When I read he was 30, I almost jumped up with joy that he isn't a 19 year old.with potential. Then read he has one goal in 15 and misses sitters. Yep, sounds about right for Sports Republic 😂 |

The excuses for not playing this way are that we didn't have a right back, so we had to play Fellows as right wing back, and we didn't have a tall striker, so had to play a different way. Now we have Bree, Wellington and Stewart, we can.play this formation. But that's the excuse.
We really should have just gone with this formation from the start, and played a centre back at right back and played Armstrong in front of Azaz, Fellows and Sciensa. The two defensive midfielders also works a treat, protecting the back four, allowing the attacking players to do their stuff without being exposed at the back. Flynn Downes was back to his best today as a defensive midfielder.
And thank f@ck we have stopped that stupid passing out from the 6 yard box, with all that boring sideways passing. [Post edited 31 Jan 23:07]

I would always put Le Tissier top of the list as he brought the most joy to the fans over the years than any of those other players. But I know this list just says "best players", regardless of who they played for.
Shearer was a great player, but most of his career wasn't at Saints!
The Wallace brothers arn't on the list. Wayne Bridge as well.
Did Benali come through the academy? He would be on my list but he wasn't a great player! My list would be biased with loyal players on etc. [Post edited 31 Jan 21:44]

Obviously wins make the world of difference. But Tonda has turned us around again, after a bad run of results, he has changed to a much better style of play and he has the team playing well at times, particularly today. He is inexperienced, but has a lot more about him than Will Still and some.of the performances are really good, even if inconsistent. But we shall see, if we finish the season strongly and impressively or not.
A long old drive, but well worth it I would imagine. Then Saints fans sounded good today [Post edited 31 Jan 21:11]

Yeah exactly this. I really enjoyed today's performance, tactics and setup. No more stupid passing out from the six yard box. Tonda got it right today, we played very well today and we gave a good account of ourselves last week too in that dare not lose game. Credit where it's due. Let's hope we go on a great run now and power up the table to the play offs. A lot of work to do though, so we shall see. |

I loved that formation today. Two defensive midfielders, Jander and Downes protected the defence. Koeman used to play Shneiderlin and Wanyama as defensive midfielders and it worked a treat. With this, we also played Azaz, Fellows (not as a wing back today), Sciensa and the big striker up front all together. It was great, full of forward play and attacking threat with the defence protected by the defensive midfielders. A lot of work to.do though to make the play offs.

Yeah but lots of positives today. I like the goalkeeper- 2 great saves and a clean sheet. Stephens, Wellington, Azaz, Flynn Downes all played really well. |

What an excellent performance. We look like we mean business today don't we. Fresh, powerful, determined.

But you still haven't explained why we have had two relegations in three years, 8 failed managers, languishing in the bottom half of the championship. If what I say is "rubbish", what is the reason for such a huge demise? All the people below Solak you will say, so who keeps appointing them? At least give reasons for the failures since Solak came in after Saints had just thrashed Brentford 4 1 at St Mary's in the PL.
Why you don't want better for this club, I do not understand. You don't get anywhere risk free.
