I really dunno. It's not so much that he always punches the ball, it's more that it's trajectory is uncertain when he does. Post punch the ball tends to go "up," as much as "out." I think that's why it rattles our defenders so much. Maybe he has weak wrists! ; ) |

There are others, but VAR is a significant reason for not wanting to be in the Premier League. As has been pointed out, during the match last night Saito's defensive chest block of the ball early on would have been called back and likely been a pen. It would have changed the game entirely. |

I'm not a statto at all, but it seems to me that our second half displays recently are a decided improvement over the first half. If so it's most likely down to JS's adjustments — or something in the players' tea. So more power to him. |

I'm guessing... hoping... that Julien had a strong word with Dembélé post-match.
It's kinda interesting. He's in a similar position to Madsen when he arrived. Both were clearly talented but neither adjusted comfortably to the team, or the level we play. Madsen spent a lot of game time watching and analysing — to the frustration of many fans. Dembélé, OTOH, doesn't appear to think at all... once again to the frustration of us fans! He tries the same moves over and over, mostly without success. Eventually I hope he'll learn to take a beat, and a leaf out of Madsen's book. Pause a second, actually look at what he's up against and consider his options. He frequently has more decision time than he realises. [Post edited 10 Dec 16:56]

He looked seriously narked when Dembélé took the free kick off him on the edge of Brum's box.... as well he might as the latter blasted it five yards over the bar. |
