These rules are not hard and fast. If the setup at the stadium doesn't permit it, then the away allocation can be less. Newcastle seem to get away with a lot because of the special circumstances at their stadium. Big cup games is where the old setup hurt as most, as our 'home end' disappeared. He was a regular for England U21s and he was superb on his full England debut at Wembley. He will get more caps and more Wembley appearances! |

We just keep grinding out those wins under Eckert. He squeezes every last ounce out of our squad. Harwood-Bellis was the best player on the pitch today. He's clearly Premier League class. [Post edited 8 Mar 14:11]

 | Forum Reply | Is Tonda Eckert THE ONE? at 14:03 8 Mar 2026
Maybe he is. We've never had a manager who's started this well before, especially with a team that had only won 4 of its previous 50 games. |

If we make the play-offs we're going to meet Millwall, either in the semi-finals or in the final. I don't think that beating them at Wembley would have a less violent outcome than beating them at the New Den. In fact, crowd control would probably be easier with the smaller crowd at their place. Anyway, the next few games will show us whether we are good enough to beat any of the top Championship teams and make the play-offs. Personally, I think Eckert has made our squad look better than it is. The fact we only won 4 of the 50 games before he took over tells us it's really not that great. https://www.standard.co.uk/new [Post edited 8 Mar 20:04]

After reading the Fighting Cock forum, it appears that the manager most Spurs' fans want is .......Harry Redknapp. Harry is 79. [Post edited 6 Mar 9:09]

It sounds like a brand new Crystal Palace stadium tonight and next season it will be a brand new Championship stadium. [Post edited 5 Mar 22:29]

It's just turning into another awful war, with the usual death and destruction, which does nobody, apart from arms dealers, any good. I see Trump is already advertising for them, saying, "America has the best weapons in the world." There are idiots who enjoy these wars and all the killing that takes place as long as they can view it safely from a distance, like it's a video game. [Post edited 5 Mar 10:38]

Ramsdale has made 2 magnificent saves., without which 10-man Newcastle wouldn't have won. He really is a top class goalkeeper. I heard on a match commentary that last season Saints made the most errors leading to opposition goals in the league and Ramsdale didn't make any. That's quite remarkable. |

"They'll be hoping that the ISIS funding bastards will be gone from their country soon." You didn't seem to learn much from your time in Iran. Iran did not fund ISIS. In fact, Iran and its proxy militias were instrumental in fighting against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, viewing the Sunni extremist group as a major threat to Shias in the region |
 | Forum Reply | We should have taken to the Iranians Many Decades Ago at 17:33 3 Mar 2026
What terrorist attacks has Iran committed in the UK or USA? The worst terrorist attacks have been carried out by Sunni Muslims who hate the Shia Muslims of Iran as much as they hate the Jews. The 911 terrorists came from Iran's enemy, Saudi Arabia. So, why not attack Saudi Arabia? What good have the American attacks done in Afghanistan or Iraq or anywhere? I have spent many years in the Middle East, and found the Iranians to be the friendliest and most civilized of all the nationalities there. You could argue that regime change would be good, but bombing a Middle Eastern country into submission just creates anarchy and hatred, not a nicer government. Thousands will die for nothing. What government do 'we' want them to have: one like Trump's in the USA or one like Starmer's in the UK? A Trump-style government would certainly be a greater danger to the world. | Forum Reply | We won and we have been good recently so why...... at 11:26 1 Mar 2026
It's a long season, with a lot of important games over the next few weeks, so it makes sense to do the minimum necessary to win each game and avoid injuries, suspensions and player burnout, especially as we have a few key players in the squad whose game time needs to be managed very carefully. We haven't really had a manager like Eckert before who just does what it takes to win - no more and no less. He is ruthless and relentless, and even when his decisions are unpopular, like sending Archer out there to rest a better player, as long as we win, that's what he'll do. Our squad really isn't as strong as the results under Eckert make it look. We still haven't solved the goalkeeper and centre forward problems. It was just a low key, routine victory and that's all it was intended to be. [Post edited 1 Mar 12:10]

People learn from past mistakes and vote accordingly. We'd live in a one party state forever if they didn't. Brexit has proven to be a disaster. A massive majority now want to rejoin the EU. Get over it. [Post edited 27 Feb 10:06]

Isn't the Green Party the one that wants to rejoin the EU as soon as possible? Perhaps people have had enough of the economic woes caused by Brexit. There is also an obvious need for European military cooperation to combat the threat of Trump and Putin. Young people especially want a safe and prosperous future. Latest YouGov Brext Poll numbers From all the UK population 63% - Rejoin EU 37% - Stay Out of EU Among the 18-25 demographic 86% - Rejoin EU 14% - Stay Out of EU https://www.thelondoneconomic. On Feb 27 1965, I saw us beat Charlton 4-0 with all 4 goals scored by George O'Brien, but my first Feb 26 Saints game was a 2-2 draw with Norwich in 1966 with both our goals scored by Chivers. A Norwich comeback made it a bit of a blip in our promotion run-in. A couple of weeks earlier I'd been in the Fratton end to see us beat Pompey 5-2. That was more like it. I was also at the Dell on Feb 26,1968, when we beat Everton 3-2. Ron Davies scored a last minute winner. It seemed like a big result at the time against a great Everton side who were one of the top 5 teams for most of the 60s. Alan Ball was superb. He really was at his best in his Blackpool and Everton years. On Feb 26, 1977 was the big FA Cup 5th rd match against Man United, which ended 2-2, with all goals scored before half-time. The pitch invasion scenes after the game made the sports pages. It was so frustrating not to win that day. United ended our long unbeaten run in the competition by winning the replay and then the cup to get their revenge for '76. Then Man United again at Wembley on Feb 26, 2017..... We always seemed to get drawn against Man United in the Cup. We played 15 FA Cup games against them (Won just the 1 in '76, which means we've never beaten them home or away). Yes, I was there at the front of the Saints end. I still can't forget that awful moment Puel subbed Gabbiadini, who was having the game of his life, when it seemed inevitable he would score again.. After that you could see the United players' heads lifting and the game turned in their favour. I count that as the worst substitution ever made by a Saints manager. As others have said, the atmosphere was good and the prevailing mood was that Saints were going to win until that happened. There were some similarities to the '79 final, which I was also at. Saints' fans were tremendous that day and even had part of the Forest end. [Post edited 26 Feb 14:24]
