No thanks. Walcott, Lallana, Romeu...all shot ..legs gone ....we need to learn from this and move on from sentimental thinking. When Cortese was running the show we were utterly ruthless and binned off players that were either old/not good enough for the relevant league we were in .. |

Fair enough Pat. Would love the club to show real ambition and bring in a quality CB, Keeper and big no 9 . Unfortunately clown republic seem hellbent on turning us into yet another run of the mill championship club. How far have we fallen since they've taken over. |

You feel Edwards would improve us. What I've seen of Edwards has been disappointing to say the least. He was raved about by QPR and we all looked forward to seeing him play for us. At first he couldn't establish himself after getting bullied and out paced by Kiffer Moore in the first game and giving away a stupid penalty. He then came back into the lineup and was given the run of games that I thought would allow him to settle down and show his ability. Unfortunately imo he has never impressed. Bullied at the back post by the Derby striker which they scored from, a bad error for the Preston opener and that was me done with him. Less Centres on the pitch would serve us better as they're all mediocre. I'd get Charles back from injury and play him in midfield with Downes and Jander. |

To be fair he did have a run of games. Unfortunately imo he looked poor or average at best...to small, weak and lacked pace. He's comfortable on the ball but no better than THB or Stephens in that respect , so doesn't really offer anything different. A real shame as I had high hopes for him after his season of success at QPR . Let's be honest and say none of our CBs have shined this season. Last time in 23/24. We let a lot of goals in but Bednarek looked miles better than our current lot and THB shone alongside him. Add in KWP at fullbacks and perhaps this explains why we're now an average Championship club when they've been replaced with likes of Wood, Edwards , Quarshie , Wellington, Roeslev etc....all are a downgrade.. .its the Sports Republic way. |

That was my first away game too. Your right they totally dominated us and we did well to hang on to get to extra time. |

Would you prefer us to persist with him then? How much time do we give him? Do you want us to achieve promotion? |

That's ridiculous Nick to say its hatred. I don't think anyone hates him, yes a few comments are OTT but he is consistently bottom of the table in both Championship seasons. Saints fans just want a keeper that makes saves that win us games. Its quite normal that supporters have opinions on players that just because they dont match yours doesn't make them wrong. |

This game has got me worried. They've got a good record against the bigger sides this season. We're poor defensively....we always concede a bad goal ..its feels inevitable. Hoping for a Tonda masterclass. |

Classic timing for us . Their version of Tonda will no doubt eek out a Christmas miracle performance from their players. |

I remember playing this down Daisy Dip in Swaythling. Kids still play it now, my lad and his mates call it Wembley. |

I've not been Bazunu's biggest fan but he made some really good saves last night and bailed out our hapless defenders on a number of corners we were facing in the 2nd half. He's improved this season imo and his distribution is a factor in our build up play from the back thats often leading to our best attacks. I'd love to move McCarthy on and bring in some decent competion for him though as we know he'll still cost us points with his dubious shot stopping at times. Your right about the goal distribution and Armstrong has shown yet again he's a top striker in the Championship after a period where myself included thought the game was up for him at Saints. I'd still bring in a big tall striker though to give us a plan B and an outlet when we're under pressure and sadly there's no way I'd trust Ross Stewart anymore with his endless injuries and Downs is definitely not a hold up player. A better CB who can actually win headers would be nice ...we miss Bednarek . |

Mad to think we've won 6 out of 7 yet I came away from last night and to a lesser extent the Brum game feeling a bit angry. Going forward we are potentially the best in the league but unless we get 4 in front or the opponents get a man sent off our atrocious defenders will always allow them a route back into the game. |

He just needs to tighten up the defence as we're conceding too many goals and look quite open . |

And also shown that he can play Centre Forward. Although I'd still love us to sign a proper target man in January to give us a plan B. |
