I bought an old stone cottage last September with a heat pump and solar panels already installed. My advice would be don't do it unless your house is either brand new or extremely well insulated. Over the winter the solar panels have contributed a tiny amount and the cost of heating my place has been huge. It's also quite noisy. I read an article not long ago where Dale Vince - the bloke who started Octopus Energy - said heat pumps are a scam unless they're fitted to new houses. The reason it was fitted here was that there was a grant available to make it very affordable to do, but I wish they'd kept the oil burning boiler. However, regarding the legionella build up: the boiler does a cycle every few weeks (I think) where it runs super-heated water to kill of any bacteria. |

On a related side issue, does anyone else think parachute payments should be stopped? All it does is create this demi-league of yoyo clubs that is unfair on all other championship clubs. Why should a club be compensated for getting relegated? |

This could be the first time in football history that the fans chant for the fitness coach to be sacked. Will we hear 'Williams out' at the game tomorrow? Some people might get the wrong idea of course, and think that the heir the throne has been exposed as an uphill gardener. Talking of uphill gardeners, perhaps 'groundsman out' should be added to the chant. |

On the rare occasion there's a live match I want to watch on Amazon, they have the option to have just the ambient sound from the ground with no commentary. Bliss. Some commentators are just about bearable, Conor McNamara is the best of a bad bunch. The hyperbole maniacs like Darren Fletcher, the narrative 'enhancers' like Guy Mowbray. Jonathan Pearce is insufferable, Vicky Sparks unlistenable, that hideous accent coupled with the most banal cliches has the same effect on me as nails down a blackboard. The aforementioned Drury. Most of them I watch with the sound off. |

So according to you, our chairman is happy to brief against his own CEO to someone (does anyone on here know you personally?) who he knows will post this information on one of the most popular QPR fans' message boards. IF this is true, it casts Hoos in a really bad light. It also indicates that there is deep discontent at the highest level with CN... yet IF, according to you/him: 'you don't appoint people in their mid 20s to executive positions based upon their well connected parents’ black books', who appointed him in the first place, if not Hoos and the board? |

On the rare occasions that I shave I still use the shaving soap that comes in a wooden bowl, a natural bristle brush and a Gillette Blue II. Had that shaving soap for about 15 years now, still going strong. Never found a better blade than the Blue II either. That combo gives me a super smooth shave and costs eff all. Plus I'm well eco friendly compared to you cants using aerosol foam! |

The anti-Nourry sentiment runs deep on this site, less so elsewhere. People have expressed dislike for him based on his accent, his background, how he looks, how he expresses himself, what he does or doesn't say... a lot of judgement, a lot of suspicion about his motives. Personally I think the guy's doing a decent job and deserves a break from the undercurrent of hostility. [Post edited 13 Feb 20:39]

I lived on Chippenham Road (in the infamous tower block, Hermes Point) 86-90, so the Windsor Castle was my local. However I rarely visited it, because it was a pound-in-the-pot for strippers shithole by then. No live bands, sadly. It was on the way down then, and continued to decline until it was bought by property developers.... So many pubs in that area were allowed to decline and die: The Chippenham, The Skiddaw, The Elephant and Castle, The Neeld Arms, The Prince Albert, The Shirland Hotel, the Devonshire Castle.... all gone....
