Thank you Clive, great resolve again! Got to ask: Team News - Rumarn Burrell out for season, is that confirmed? Did I miss the memo? Wouldn't surprise me, but I was still clinging to the foolish hope of March (31 March obvs). Thanks again. |

Take your point, Hunter - without our owners, we are sunk. We are Sheff Wed. I guess the counter-argument is good old/bad old Human Hierarchy - in any organisation. Whether they want to be or not, owners of a football club are inevitably At The Top. Finance is power over everything - especially in the football world. As such, by dint of being what they are, our owners will always Set The Tone. They can't not. So if they are deliberately absent, not asking questions and just delegating completely, this will filter down and, perhaps, lead to a more relaxed, less-focused culture than is required. ('The Real Bosses aren't really bothered, so why am I?'). It's always difficult, because our owners are clearly business people not English football experts. But as Mark Warburton used to say, "they write the cheques". It's their barn. And if they are not more on it, its bound to have an affect on what goes on beneath them over time. |

Absolutely - exactly where I am tonight. FWIW 0-3 was my sober, measured prediction. That is some achievement, Rangers. |
 | Forum Reply | I'll take one for the team Boro Match thread!!!! at 19:05 8 Mar 2026
I'm trying to be level-headed. 'Boro are streets ahead of us with a bigger, monied, fitter squad (as are Sheff Utd and Soton) and at this point of the season it really shows. Teams like oursleves, Stoke, Preston and Brizzle falling back in late-winter exhaustion - wealthier squads like Blades, Soton, Hollywood FC, 'Boro and Ipswich piling forward. Yes I know about Millwall, but they have built steadily in recent years with a few play-off near misses, unlike us. Hull I just can't explain, but I suspect they will fall away now too. For us it's simple - no sht Sherlock we need our players back PDQ. Poku, Chair, Burrell, Obikwu. Get them playing asap (risks might need to be taken, Julien/whoever) and mid-table can be achieved. Fail to, and we have to start checking in on Oxford, Baggies, Pompey and Leicester. Anything south of 51pts will certainly not be enough. [Post edited 8 Mar 19:09]

I say it every year - I would have given everything to have been there, and I so envy those of you that were. What a day that must have been. |
 | Forum Reply | Three game week - the modern excuse at 07:55 1 Mar 2026
Blackburn home game miserable 1-3 loss recently. No 3 game week in sight. Infact we had an extra day off with the previous 0-0 at Charlton being on the Friday 8 days prior. It's all rubbish imho. Just an excuse thrown out by many clubs. These are young professional athletes. |

That 0-0 draw at doomed Sheff Utd was the one - but our away record through the whole season was solid but not remarkable (P21 W7 D7 L7). Telling that our win at Villa Park on 31 Jan was only our SECOND league away win of the season. Our home form was awesome and lethal throughout. |
 | Forum Reply | I've not started a match thread before, but I thought f*ck it, why not? v Saints at 09:10 25 Feb 2026
It might have been mentioned already, but its (imho) worth putting the following out there just to cling to some positivity in amongst all this pain and wreckage: - We earned 4pts from the recent Cov and Charlton games and I think people were pretty ok/happy with that. - We then drew 1-1 with Blackburn, 1-1 with Hull and last night drew 1-1 at Soton. Alright, we didn't, but I think everyone would have been happy with this decent scenario, which would have put us on 47pts after 34 games. - Guess what. In the real world we're on 47pts after 34 games. Perspective. - Yes, I'm leaving GD out of all this. [Post edited 25 Feb 9:12]
