 | Forum Reply | When a country reaches the point of no return? The case of Sweden at 17:34 3 Oct 2026
Again, your attempt to slightly turn what someone has said into a talking point that has no bearing on the original talking point is illustrated here. This video clip has nothing to do with what I was saying. What I originally stated: When a country reaches the point of no return? The case of Sweden on 21:08 - Sep 16 by ncswan In the US, a lot of the strongest conservatives and Trump supporters due to his successful border/illegal immigration control, are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, especially of the Hispanic persuasion. What you (Trampie) replied to my comment on Sept 16 timestamped at 21:45: Immigrants can be the most racist people you meet in the sense that in a lot of cases once they get in they are happy to lift the drawbridge up, you see it in this country as well. I then replied (within the quotation marks) to your reply on Sept 16 timestamped @ 23:51: "Umm... Let's look at what you're claiming: Immigrants, in a lot of cases, who enter a country legally can be the most racist because they don't want more immigrants let in the country, legally or illegally? That's not correct, at least not here in the US. LEGAL immigrants are proud that they entered the US LEGALLY. They, like President Trump, welcome all immigrants who enter the US LEGALLY. They and Pres Trump don't want immigrants to enter (happy to lift the drawbridge up) the US ILLEGALLY. There's no racism in keeping ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS from entering the US ILLEGALLY. We want to keep the US SAFE from bad immigrants who might commit crimes against LEGAL CITIZENS and LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. LEGAL IMMIGRATION is also good for the US economy, in that LEGAL IMMIGRANTS, more often than not, don't need government assistance, contribute to the economy by being gainfully employed and paying taxes, have learned to speak English, and are more apt to obey OUR EXISTING US LAWS and not continue with their laws and customs. LEGAL IMMIGRANTS are more apt to assimilate into the US population. LEGAL IMMIGRATION has nothing to do with RACISM. Are you trying to play the RACE CARD here?" Then you tried to twist your original reply to a followup I posted on Sept 17 timestamped @ 18:47 where I posed a simple question to you, "Are you saying that if you oppose, if you're against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, then you're a racist?": Your reply: from Trampie on Sept 17 @ 19:24 - "The USA is said to be only 250 years old and is said to be a country full of immigrants, Brirain is thousands of years old and historically is not seen a be a country full of immigrants, perhaps that is why you don't understand." Again, I blasted your post by pointing out that your original post's use of the word "historically" had nothing to do with anything you stated before and was incorrect in context. What I stated in reply to your post on Sept 17 @ 20:43: "By the way, Great Britain is recognized as a country full of immigrants due to their colonial ventures, especially in South Asia, Middle East, and Africa. Most are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS; however, more ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS are being allowed to come into your country. From Google AI - According to data from the Office for National Statistics, roughly one in six people living in England and Wales was born abroad. This represents a higher proportion of foreign-born residents than in the United States." Trampie, again, you're nothing but a disingenuous, pathetical poster, who tries to get away with SHITE by twisting your words to support your inexcusable and incorrect earlier posts. You are definitely a time waster for me. I apologize to other readers for the length of my posts here but I don't have any use or time for Trampie's disingenuity. I am trying to shine a light on him for who and what he is. |
 | Forum Reply | Is the three week break too long ? at 16:19 3 Oct 2026
The question for debate is, "Is the 3 wk break too long?". Yes, it's too long! As for others who question international duty & honor vs. club allegiance, I suggest we ask the players themselves what they think. I bet most players wouldn't want to give up the chance to play for their country as it gives them a platform to shine and enhance their football careers, which leads to more money for them. I don't begrudge a player for doing/thinking that. They have a very short period to earn a lot of money for a God-given talent. Good for them! |

Eom is now allowed to complete his military service requirement in a much shorter time frame. Military Service Requirement Overview • Who must serve: All physically and mentally fit South Korean males. • Enlistment age: Typically drafted by age 19, though service can generally be deferred up to age 28 (or 30 for exceptional cases). • Service duration: Ranges from 18 months (Army/Marine Corps) to 21 months (Air Force), designed to maintain readiness against North Korea. How Sports Athletes Get Exempted: - Elite athletes can receive a practical exemption (transitioning into reserve/alternative status as Arts and Sports Personnel) to reward national prestige. Achievement Level Required Result Exemption / Alternative Service Details 1. Olympic Games Win a medal (Gold, Silver, or Bronze) 3–4 weeks basic training + 544 hours of sports volunteer work 2. Asian Games Win a Gold medal only 3–4 weeks basic training + 544 hours of sports volunteer work Instead of active combat duty, successful medalists fulfill 3 to 4 weeks of basic military training and complete hundreds of hours of community service in their respective sports fields over a 34- to 42-month period. |

Manager Heimir Hallgrímsson sparked a major diplomatic row during a squad announcement when he voiced the locker room's deep reluctance. He told reporters, "We're not playing with genocide, we're playing against genocide." from Yahoo Sports My feelings: So, what about the genocide AND heinous crimes committed by Hamas against the 1,200+ Israelis AND the abduction of 251 hostages, some of whom were American citizens, in Hamas' coordinated attack against Israel AND on Israeli soil on Oct 7, 2023? Faced with escalating tensions, the Irish players held an intense four-hour team meeting before traveling to Hungary. from Instagram & Kuwaittimes • The Majority Vote: The squad voted by a significant majority to go ahead with the match but agreed to execute the on-pitch silent protests (such as skipping the handshakes and wearing the armbands). • Gavin Bazunu's Stance: Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu opted out entirely. He chose to boycott the match and the upcoming return fixture, stating his personal conviction that "the killing of innocent people is wrong. from Yahoo Sports Again, my feelings: So, what about the genocide AND heinous crimes committed by Hamas against the 1,200+ Israelis AND the abduction of 251 hostages, some of whom were American citizens, in Hamas' coordinated attack against Israel AND on Israeli soil on Oct 7, 2023? The Gaza Strip (Hamas Control): Hamas held de facto administrative and military control over the Gaza Strip. Yes, good point. I think Swans may collaborate with other teams that were relegated in a lawsuit against City as well. A precedent has been set with Everton having to pay Burnley £40M due to their "escape" at the expense of Burnley who finished 4 points below the Toffees. Everton would have been relegated if their points reduction of 6 points due to PSR breaches had been applied more timely. [Post edited 27 Sep 16:33]

I asked Google to compile the money "earned" by Man City during the 2009 - 2018 time frame based on where they finished in the Premier League: "Across this historic 9-year block, Manchester City accumulated an estimated £825.8 million exclusively from central Premier League distributions. This figure forms the sporting financial baseline linked to the high-profile independent commission inquiry involving past financial reporting and rules compliance during this exact era." For the clubs affected, this is what the lawsuits will be fought over, imo. So, if a club owner's team were in the PL for each of those years, you could argue that your club should be compensated, say, at least £2-3M per year? That would be somewhere around £500+M going to each of the other 19 clubs per year. This will get very interesting!! |

From a BBC article ( https://www.bbc.com/sport/foot ): In February 2023, City were charged and referred to an independent commission over alleged breaches that were said to have taken place between 2009 and 2018. The charges - relating to Premier League financial rules - are: 54 x failure to provide accurate financial information from 2009-10 to 2017-18. 14 x failure to provide accurate details for player and manager payments from 2009-10 to 2017-18. 5 x failure to comply with Uefa's rules including financial fair play (FFP) 2013-14 to 2017-18. 7 x breaching Premier League profit and sustainability (PSR) rules from 2015-16 to 2017-18. 35 x failure to co-operate with Premier League investigations from December 2018 to Feb 2023. |

I believe. I believe we have the talent both raw and experienced, excellent squad depth, a savvy manager, great fans, and the best owners. I'm predicting 28-10-8, 94 points. It will be a dogfight for the top two auto-qualifiers with WHam and Wolves with Swans being in the mix, maybe Middlesbrough but I think we have more depth than they do, maybe more depth than Wolves and WHam. |

I go back and forth with soccer/football/futbol. I used soccer this time to differentiate it with American Football. And yes, you're also correct about my reference to PL, which didn't come into existence until 1992. However, you have to recognize that the owners and league executives who founded the Premier League were wanting to create a league that would become as valuable and powerful as the American owners' National Football League. A well-written, documented history of the Premier League by Wall Street Journal writers Joshua Robinson and Jonathan Clegg, "The Club: How the English Premier League Became the Wildest, the Richest, Most Disruptive Force in Sports". I encourage all to read this book. Really fascinating and an easy read. |

Are Wycombe playing/expecting him to be strictly a fullback? He may be a Tymon (and Ronald)-type of player that he's better suited as a wingback. "Ok-but-not-great" on defense but makes really good forays into the offensive side of the field? |

There's another thread on the same subject, "7 games before the next international break. 3 wins 2 draws would be good." by Swans9 20 Sep Since there's only 7 games between the current break and the next Int'l break after Round 15 concludes, my 7-game forecast for games to be played before the Nov break are: Swans (current record) 5-2-1; (Goals for: against) 13:6; (Goal Diff) +7; (Total Pts) 15 pts Norwich (3-0-5); 16:17; -1; 9 pts (H) - 2-1 Win Millwall (3-2-3); 15:15; 0; 11 pts (A) - 1-2 Win West Ham (4-3-1); 22:11; +11; 15 pts (H) - 3-3 Draw QPR (3-4-1); 10:7; +3; 13 pts (A) - 1-1 Draw Blackburn (2-3-3); 12:12; 0; 9 pts (H) - 3-1 Win Portsmouth (2-2-3); 9:10; -1; 8 pts (A) - 0-1 Win Birmingham (2-5-1); 12:11; +1; 11 pts (A) - 0-0 Draw 4 Wins, 3 Draws, 0 Losses = 15 points |

Baseball - Pitchers - Nolan Ryan - Most career strikeouts (5,714), most career no hitters (7; the next closest has two), most single-season strikeouts (373), lowest batting average against (.204 lifetime opponent batting average), strikeout longevity (15 seasons with 200+ strikeouts & 6 seasons with 300+ strikeouts; most career 1-hitters (12), 2-hitters (18), & 3-hitters (31). Probably all of Ryan's records will never be equaled or bettered. Baseball - Batters (offensive stats) - Hank Aaron - Total bases (6,856), Runs Batted In (2,297), Extra-base hits (1,477), Home Runs - officially, Aaron ranks 2nd (755) but there are HUGE question marks regarding Barry Bonds rank as #1 (762) due to his known use of steroids. Aaron also ranks 3rd in hits (3,771); Pete Rose #1 (4,256) , Ty Cobb #2 (4,191) Basketball - Michael Jordan, Larry Bird (sorry, LeBron. MJ is still the king with Bird 2nd). Other notables: LeBron James, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Wilt Chamberlain, Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Jerry West. American Football - Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T. for certain. No one comes close to what he's accomplished, especially noteworthy in winning Super Bowls (7) and Super Bowl MVP's (5). His NFL list of 1st's (8) is too long to post here. Golf - The toughest sport to choose an absolute G.O.A.T. Jack Nicklaus has the most Majors (18), w/Tiger Woods 2nd (15), Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead (Tiger Woods is tied with Snead for most career victories w/82), Arnold Palmer, Walter Hagen, Gary Player. I think Scottie Scheffler (only 30 yrs old) will be included in this group when his career is over. I especially admire Senior Golfer Bernhard Langer, who blossomed after turning 50 yrs old. He's won 47 times on the Senior Champions Tour, with 12 majors!! Golf is my favorite sport; it boils down to just you in golf, with no one else to blame. Tennis - Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Djokovic holds the most Grand Slam titles (24). Soccer - Pele, Messi, Ronaldo are the easy picks. But I'm always intrigued by the yesteryear standouts of the Premier League like Dwight Yorke, George Best, Thierry Henry, & Alan Shearer. Harry Kane will be one of those when he retires even though he's finishing up his career in the Bundesliga. The top offensive players will always grab the headlines and accolades. Thanks, OHL for bringing this up during the "quiet" period. |
