Basically your last two sentences.

Inconsistency of Performance !!

Our match at Pompey, a few days after the Leicester game, same team, however....

We all complain, and say, "Same old Rangers", but how many on here play football themselves or any other sport, golf, darts, snooker, rugby, cricket, even running. Just when you think you got everything sussed, you turn up and play like you did when you were ten years old.

The stats men and data analysts need to work this one out and they can then go to the top of their "paygrade"....

Its hard to explain and has me puzzled on this fine December morning. We may say, "same old Rangers", but is it really so..

Anyone else got any examples of their own widely differing sporting endeavours ???

Wow. We won a test in Australia.

This doesnt gloss over the mess of the previous three tests and also this whole game was just constant chaos, but we somehow managed to get across the line and the players and staff have to be commended for that.

Have to carry on in the last test in a similar vein though.

After the Lord Mayor's show but still impressive to get the job done, for sure...

To be fair Stainrod, I was there and would not have needed a refund either amnd the game from our perspective was far from shameful.

Having lived in Pompey for several years in days gone by, am very aware of the
Pompey home fans effect, on Portsmouth always generally being very strong at home.

So a point after a much improved second half display was reasonable for me.

Yes its a drop from the Leicester game but you dont win every game thay way and Pompey finished 16th to our 15th last season, perhaps an away point is ok, if the wins keep coming at home.

What you can never fault Smyth for is effort and application. And he does have undoubted qualities also.

He has definitely improved in his consistency - probably now a squad option with a fully fit squad etc.

He won't be playing that much i feel if he signs for another two years and sometimes may not be on the bench either if we keep all the players we have currently.

Whether Smyth wants that for himself or whether he wants to go to another championship club where he is a first choice option and maybe is offered a bit more money. Could see him doing well at a club like Portsmouth myself.

I think we obviously will offer him a contract and quite rightly so but whether he will sign it, personally i doubt it.

He will be aware himself the squad depth and in particular the options we have in forward positions and out wide where he plays are now our strongest areas of the squad.

I think we will be saying goodbye to Smythie either in January or at the end of the season. And good luck to him from me. Has been a great little player for us over the years.

The thread is about Poku though.

And I have a feeling this guy will really kick on, given the opportunities.

He is our one big wide man. Thought you had to be five foot zero to play in such positions these days. And can see him playing centrally also, covering Kone and Burrell. Be interested to see how he could play if he occasionally was moved more centrally.

Hope he keeps fit though. Think that could be an issue with him, but fingers crossed - not.

portsmouth on boxing day SOLD OUT
at 10:19 23 Dec 2025

Will actually be at this one and meeting a few pompey mates beforehand as lived down there many moons ago.

Did go a lot to pompey games when there and like our ground was always generally a brilliant ground for atmosphere and pompey fans were always lively. Portsmouth have generally always been a decent home side because of.this

So not that confident, but i think we are doing well enough to get a draw.

Whether people at a big gathering, on your tod or just with your partner or friends, hope everyone on here gets on as well as possible and enjoys or endures the festive period, as the case may be.

Can be a strange time of year, sometimes brilliant, sometimes not so, And know for many its a bit of an ordeal sometimes, so hope all goes as well as can be.

Anyhow its great that Rangers are giving us some well needed Xmas cheer for once. Hopefully we can get a decent result on Boxing day to continue that.

Merry Xmas all.

Ok. I remember it differently but I guess memories might be a bit misty.

Wow. Being at that game. Incredible. Guessing there was a sharp intake of breath when Gascoigne got booked.

So pleased he scored as he definitely deserved to, after a barren run.

A true number nine's finish.

Was aware he had supposedly spoken to WBA, but from rumours his relationship with Nourry was never greatly amicable as we led to believe.

Stephan seems to fit more in the mould of a Nourry man, but yes was a shame as under Ainsworth not only were 100% going down to league one, I felt at the time, we could have slid down even further.

Out of order.

Meant the chant that went around "Marti, Marti, you're a c**t"

Yes he is no longer a QPR employee but the guy did a half decent job for us.

And with a strikeforce over two seasons including the likes of Alfie Lloyd, an even younger Kolli, Frey, Dykes, Sinclair Armstrong have to say he did not have the firepower we have today,

Whatever happened for him to be put on gardening leave , most were disappointed.

He eventually got the job at Leicester, mainly because they knew they were likely to be hit with ffp charges, an embargo this January and also a likely points deduction and given Leicesters history, a very likely lower half championship finish this season, its a job that he would always have been open to criticism.

I know its fun saying getting sacked in the morning for some to opposition managers etc but fans calling him a c**t particularly after he has spoken well of our club.

Its classless by fans that did this.

Was a brilliant victory yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it but this kind of treatment of a bloke that basically kept us in this league with a very sub standard squad compared to what we seem to be developing now and maybe Stephan is a better manager. However....

I will probably get a few pelters on this, as have done in the past when criticising some of our fans, and I guess people's prerogative but as a club I think we are better than that.

Whenever an issue at the club, I would always ask what would Andy Sinton, the club ambassadors view be.

Was a shame because everything else yesterday was first class.

An assist to Lineker in the world cup semi final against Germany to equalise his own goal deflection of a German free kick.

Would have played a poor Argentina side bereft of Maradona in the World Cup Final after outplaying Germany in the semi apart from couple of poor pens in the shootout.

Parker would have been renowned forevermore and as a QPR player at the time too.

Would have had legend status and been a national treasure.

Thems the breaks Paulie !!!!

Never again will there ever be a chance a QPR player be in a World Cup Final Winning Team....

Probably Head and Careys batting and Australia having several seamers that can do well, whereas Englands only class seamer is Jofra.
