A couple of your favourite games 24/25
at 06:09 6 May 2025

Cardiff away because it finally looked like we were capable of at least enough resistance to nick a game.

And the following game at Watford, the first time it looked like we might actually be able to play better than the opposition.

Actually, thinking about it, that first four months was embarrassing.

Us fans have contempt for the owners who oversee a failing football team, the owners show contempt for us knowing the fans aren’t the solution to the one and a half million they lose every month.

The consistent factor in both the above issues is overpaid players, that holds the key to all of this.

Average players are earning far more than is justifiable. We’ve got a decent bunch here, it feels difficult to call this out, but is £400,000 to £500,000 a year, as an average, really warranted?

If you look at most sports very few earn those kind of sums, only the relative world elite. Here at QPR, say 35th in this country, forget about worldwide, there’s probably 20 here alone earning around half a mill.

The whole set up is mad.

Barca v Inter semi final CL
at 07:01 1 May 2025

I never watch this stuff but a mate said there’d been some great games this year so, as the news came to an end, whereas I tend to switch off these days when the MOTD tune strikes up, thought this time I’ll have a watch.

It looked fantastic, a different level to what I see at LR year on year but I had to switch off when VAR once again, raised its ugly head. A superb team goal spoilt by a fckin toenail being a minuscule fraction ahead of its opposition.

For me VAR is the ruination of football. Much as I’d love us to have another crack at the elite, I feel it’s the one thing that would seperate me from QPR on a permanent basis.

Or it could just be bang out of order if Marti is touting himself about when under contract.

I’m not sure what else the club could have done under those circumstances, irrespective of whether West Brom want him or not. Personally I don’t want a manager in charge for any match who treats this club with such contempt.

He didn’t have to sign a long term contract but nevertheless that is exactly what he did

Cifuentes placed on garden leave as reign that promised so much unravels
at 08:36 30 Apr 2025

Well in some respects, that is semantics.

You’ll remember better than me but wasn’t Nourry in situ when Marti took the job? He certainly was when Marti extended his contract. By definition, Marti was accepting that role as Head Coach so hardly surprising if Nourry then states that as fact.

The truth as is I see it, Marti is probably like any other manager and eventually got miffed about the situation particularly when things were going awry.

Nothing new in this, it’s been happening ever since we went the DOF route.

A well balanced article, it’ll be interesting to see how next season pans out for us and for Marti.

I’m fixated regards your revelation that Marti wanted to be a head coach and not a manager but has since suggested that he wanted more control. Well Marti, that’s called a manager, so make your bloody mind up.

In the end, that is the problem with this relationship and has and always will be, as per Les role as DOF. A manager has to have an ego, that ego doesn’t want an employee above him calling what he sees as his shot. That’s what keeps going wrong here.

If Nourry keeps his present role it’ll happen again.

Exactly, there won’t be any financial compensation.

West Brom are a mid table side, higher than us and with bigger aspirations. They’re employing a manager whose achievement is keeping us out of league one, something we’ve managed for the last ten seasons and largely without him. West Brom will probably have a hundred applications if they put it out there and the fans will probably be a bit meh about his appointment.

If he’d taken us to promotion then compensation is a starter, that’s the reason we incorporated it in his contract. As it stands West Brom will tell us if you want compensation then sue your manager. Not something we’d want to get involved in so a handshake and you can have Furlong will settle the deal.

If it’s true that Marti’s agent had been touting him around then it’s a bit of a slap in the face for the club so hardly surprising they’ve put him on gardening leave.

If the club had let him manage the side at Sunderland it would have shown extraordinary weakness so, for the moment, they’re having to play it by the book and stand him down. It’s the clubs only realistic option from a contractual standpoint that avoids a payout.

Never mind, I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Horse racing, the Tennis, golf and three wonderful months of not having to watch our team getting beat every other week.

That alone sets me up to withstand another nine months of purgatory.

What I can’t get past though, Marti’s set up gets destroyed by just about every team in the top half.

It was painful watching us get torn apart today, he just doesn’t learn.
