Wow.....Do you really think peace will break out if Israel hands back any land? if so you really do need to give your head a wobble. I was brought up a Catholic respecting others religions, I have nothing to "let go of" other than wanting people to simply get along and respect each others opinions - the world however is burning and this is down to one religion and one religion only.... Next time you take a stroll in Resolven woods consider this. This is not about Palestine, this is not about land, this is about total domination. An organisation that openly uses children and women as shields to hide terrorists is not an organisation I will ever support or show sympathy towards regardless of my religion. When push comes to shove as it will do very soon in the UK, are you willing to wave the Palestine flag to welcome a religion and people that will 100% remove you if it gains control or will you fight for the freedom and values our grandparents and ancestors fought valiantly for? Supporting a murderous regime that openly despises our way of living is not going to do your children any favours whatsoever. I know what side of the fence I shall be on...good luck when the people of Palestine reach Resolven, I am sure they will thank you for your support. I am not a Jew and I do not condone some of the actions taken by both sides in this conflict. I am however 'partisan' to our way of life and I make no apologies for this whatsoever. |

I am reading your replies with amazement and wonder if you actually know your history of Islam and why so many people are offended by these Palestine activists....here's a few clues: - Muslims have been attacking Christians, Jews and anyone else that didnt follow their faith from 1035, destroying churches, temples and burning books and bibles. - In the 1400 year history of Islam over 270m people are estimated to have been killed in the name of Allah, making Islam the greatest killing force in history by a long way. - A Christian is 'martyred' for their faith every five minutes now - Specific teachings in the Quran are openly hostile to Christianity "The verse of the sword" (Quran 9:5), The "Jizya Verse" (Quran 9:29) and finally verse 8:60 which openly instructs muslims to strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah. These people supporting a murderous regime that would execute them all the second it gains control of their country are shall we say uneducated or misguided? I am not condoning what is happening right now in Gaza for one minute and find it appaling that children are being caught up in this conflict. Israel is fighting to survive against an enemy that has been persecuting them since 1100, this attack will never stop until one side wipes out the other. Ask yourself what would happen if Isreal falls, do you think it stops there or do you think perhaps Hamas will be satisfied - my uneducated guess is they will look to conquer elsewhere.....wait a minute isn't that already happening? Islam has been carrying out 'acts of genocide' since history began and it shows no sign of stopping now, that in essence is what offends me with these activists who have no idea of their history and that is what worries me about the state of our nation. |

I have a friend who has been working on this case for the last 3 years and according to them City WILL 100% be relegated, to which division is still being negotiated as it has major consequences on clubs all the way down the pyramid....its not an easy solution as it affects all clubs in the leagues below, whatever happens they are going down and with their owners facing prosecution and players with exit clauses in their contracts we will see a major fall from grace for Man City. There is playing the system and then there is taking the absolute p@ss, their ownership group need to be made an example of and to warn foreign investors that you cant mess around with our game regardless of how much money you have (they tried in golf too and failed there also). Fair play to the premier league for holding their shape throughout this arduous process and countless challenges from a heavyweight legal team at Man City. Next up the Chelsea enquiry in a few years as none of that makes financial sense either......it has to be a level playing field for everyone. |

I was in Copenhagen for the game and with the exception of the actual match had a great time with a mixture of fans from all over Wales who are very passionate about their country. Emlyn and Emrys are well btw and send you their love.... I assume from your comments you have never been to a Wales away game as there is generally a good vibe with the exception of a few bluebird fans who still think Cardiff actually is Wales. Bellamy was taking pelters and will not last much longer in my opinion, he might still have the players onside but not the fans based on the reactions before and after the game. |

Credit where it is due I thought he started the game very positive and moved the ball forward through into the midfielders a lot more in the first half which is a massive improvement vs his last game and hopefully a sign the coaches have recognised this too. There is a decent player there no doubt and if the coaches can get him comfortable playing the ball forward more often he can add a lot more value to this team, he will face a much better press than the Burnley one on Saturday however so needs to continue to refine his game if he is to keep his place. An encouraging first half performance and hopefully the coaches can help develop his game even more for his and the team's sake. |

Getting to the byline more often or delivering early crosses from wide positions when the middle of the park is blocked would 100% help solve some of these issues and put far more pressure on defences by mixing up our attacks. This walking the ball round the edge of the box stuff is just not effective enough and every team we play know its coming so are happy to sit and hit us on the break. This tactic not only offers us little reward but also carries a dangerous threat as we have seen on countless occasions. I have noticed that when we defend we only leave one up top, this is something else that needs to change to offer more of a threat on the counter. We shouldn't need to drag 10 men behind the ball every time the opposition attacks, this in fact only encourages the opposition to add players to the attack if there is no threat to them on the counter. Personaly I would leave at least 2 up whenever possible to occupy defenders and give us more of a chance of retaining possession when its cleared. Finally I would also not leave Vip up on his own when he plays as he very rarely wins back possession or gets us free kicks to relieve the pressure, Idah is far more effective in that role. |

The third goal last night was very avoidable and something that teams executed against us quite a lot last season - let us have the ball up to the edge of their box, leave 3 players wide and high and catch us on the break. The tactic of pushing everyone up and crowding the last third whilst trying to thread the ball through the eye of a needle and walk it into the net is not that difficult to defend against as keeps getting proved when we do it. Quick counter breaks, moving the ball forward attacking with pace generally works best in this league, we have shown signs of that this season which has been great to watch and we need to keep working at it as it is very effective. Just my opinion but there was still over 10 minutes left so perhaps we didnt need to over commit at that point in the game....one for the coaches and manager to mull over in their match debrief. |

Calling players 'duds' after only a few games is extremely harsh - these are human beings who are finding their feet after moving from various countries and standards of football to play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world. I see players who are getting used to a new team and system with early potential but certainly not duds? Comparing our wingers to Scienza is not a like for like comparison, he is one of the best in this league and would be a good winger in the prem too. Perhaps the time to judge these 'duds' is after they have had a few months to acclimatise. |

I think tonight has shown us that its as clear as day that Cabango is not of the quality required to help us compete at the top end of this league, I wish it was different but it isn't unfortunately. My early season optimism of seeing the ball being played through the lines was replaced tonight by the slow, lethargic sideways and backwards short balls that got us stuck in the mud last season (haven't we all suffered enough of this). The one common denominator tonight....yes you guessed it! It was not Cabango's fault we lost however, Southampton were a yard sharper and far quicker on the break vs a team that looked jaded and confused for large parts of the first half. Im putting this down to the new players getting used to the league and a really tough test tonight. However with a big expensive squad this year I am confident this will improve when players are fully bedded into the new system. I hope the coaches can find a solution for Cabango to be more effective playing out from the back or he just isn't going to add enough value this season. Southampton seem to have placed a hex on us, we need to call on the ancient Druids to expunge whatever spell they have on us as its beginning to p@ss me right off. Onto the next one and lets hope the team looks a bit livelier for Burnley. |

Excellent win tonight and a dynamic first half performance to stamp our authority on the game. It was so nice to see Welsh and Lissah pass forwards and through the lines the first 20 minutes to break the press and get us moving forward on the break. I have nothing against Cabango and Burgess but it makes a huge difference when you can play out from the back through the high press rather than just pass it back to the keeper. I hope this continues as it makes a huge difference to our game. We seem to be much more balanced now with added pace and a counter attack in our armoury which is required to succeed in this league. Kudos to the coaching team and players so far for addressing some of the issues that have held us back previously. |

This will be a similar test to Sheff Utd where Eustace sets his team up to sit back and hit on the counter and set pieces like they did last season, at least Ageymang who tore Cabango to shreds last season is injured for this one. Prediction - we will have 60% possession, Derby will sit and wait to hit us with balls over the top or into the channels as well as look to capitalise on set pieces. Its not rocket science so hopefully Matos has a plan to counter this and give us more of an attacking edge, Derby will be more than happy to see us going side to side so lets not be too predictable eh! |

I would have taken 4 points from these 2 games to start with so a decent return from the first 2 games. To compete at the top in this division you need to have a plan B and also the ability to flex your tactics to counter the opposition, Matos and his coaching team need to find more solutions on this as teams have and will continue to let us have the ball and sit deep both home and away. IMO each game needs a specific plan, we cant just rely on the same system if we want to be successful this season. I hope we can be less predictable and more direct when we need to be this season when the opportunities present themselves, there will be lots more who play as Sheff Utd did on Saturday and its down to us to find ways to break them down (especially at home). |

He has had enough time in my book now to understand our style from last season is not going to be enough to get us into the play offs this year in a much stronger league. The coaching team now has to earn their money, they have been backed in the main on new players over the past 2 windows so need to find the solutions to unlock games rather than just plodding along like we did for long periods last season. The fact that a lot of fans can see this means the coaching team with all the analysts, tacticians, etc they have employed must see it also? Results of course matter, getting the fans off their seats matters, creating more chances matters - 60% possession in our own half less so. This will not bring the big crowds back or generate a buzzing atmosphere that gets the fans behind the team and gives us the 'extra man' especially at home. Hoping we see a more progressive style starting tomorrow at Stoke. |

Most of the teams at the top of the division last year played a much more direct game, sit deep when defending and break fast utilising pacy forwards. I do feel our ponderous style has to change if we are to get out of this division as teams have now become far too comfortable letting us have the ball and putting the emphasis on us trying to break then down with 11 men behind the ball. Hopefully the coaching team have identified a plan B otherwise it will be a long old season if we just continue with the style we had last season. We need to adapt and flex tactics game by game rather than play the same way regardless of our opponents as that is what happened last season, let's give them something different to think about this time. |
 | Forum Reply | I'm calling it now at 13:49 7 Aug 2026
Whatever happens this season we need to acknowledge the ambition of the owners who are investing heavily in the team for the second season running. Over to Matos and the team now to generate a positive return on the investment. Things I would like to see this season: - Inject some pace to our play going forward, break quickly now and again is an idea - Mix things up more tactically instead of starting from the keeper every time - Add more attacking threat to our away performances - Get more crosses in the box - Dont wait to go behind before changing things up, be more pro active One things is for certain this will be a bumpy ride and a difficult watch at times. I'm keeping my expectations low for now and hope we have evolved from last season into a more dynamic team that can compete consistently both at home and away. |

He will have picked up a nice house in Alderley Edge as part of the deal which is where all the Prem footballers live, he may even have lived in the area whilst at Man Utd so I see the logic in him moving somewhere that perhaps feels like home. No Stoke players will live in Stoke I can assure you, the attraction is Cheshire and being part of the footballing 'elite' in their own community in Alderley Edge and Knutsford. I do think its good business for us and really pleased its been done now so we can reinvest in the squad, I hope measures have been taken to protect our other key assets as we cant afford to lose Vip, if the owners do have ambitions then he needs to stay no matter what. Fans need to remember its simply a job to the players and nothing more, I personally wish players wouldn't kiss the badge as its so disengenuous and irritating IMO. Celebrate yes, but please dont kiss the badge and insult the fans intellegence (unless of course you are a local lad and have genuine affinity to the club). |

Yes of course - failed attempts at goal, losing possession, pass completion, KM's covered per game, successful tackles etc. The modern player takes little or no risks and these guys did is my point back when stats werent used as a yardstick to judge performances. Their key stats that matter of course are goals scored, and created and the trophies they won which are unrivalled, not sure they would have held 90% pass completion rates however whilst going about their business is what I was trying to articulate. |

I am all for modernising the game and hope the success Brighton and Hearts had last season can be replicated at SCFC next season. I wouldn't want football to turn into the NFL however and would quite like to see a few mavericks who are more worried about beating the full back than damaging their stats - will these players even exist in 10 years time? Maradona, Cruyff, Best, Pele etc would all have rubbish stats but were brilliant creative players that excited fans and made the game more entertaining. Would much rather watch this type of player than the 'robots' we get these days. |

I do understand fully the value Fulton brings to the squad and as a back up player but my point is we need better in his position if we are to go up. Stats only tell part of the story also..Ronald for instance will undoubtably have good stats for his workrate, safe passes backwards and dynamic sprints etc but can you honestly tell me he offers us a threat going forward and is capable of contributing to a promotion chasing team?? My eyes seem to be working fine but my head tells me we need a more dynamic winger if we are to challenge for promotion - the stats can look great but the reality is far different. |
