 | Forum Reply | Have you ever betted against QPR ??? at 08:02 13 Mar 2026
Yes I bet against QPR as it's the one thing I have more knowledge on than the bookies. For example a Middlesbrough win was even money on Sunday and Leicester at 5/4 earlier in the week was too good to turn down. My view is this club ruins so many of my weekends I might as well have some financial compensation for it. I don't bet big and If Rangers avoid defeat I will be more happy with that earning a few bob. |

Thank you Clive for reliving the nightmare and putting out another top notch report on that shambles. The formation we set up in was all wrong from the start at it was obvious the players weren't happy with it confirmed by Jimmy in his post match interview. I keep saying it but we are walking into a nightmare. A bit like Birmingham themselves who dropped into relegation on the last day of the season a couple of years ago. There is a big stench of unrest behind the scenes that will pull us into the dog fight and these players do not have the balls for a dog fight. |

Any insight for today Robith - Really enjoyed your views on the runners and riders. Just lumped on Leicester at 5/4 on Betfair Exchange - Dead cert that!!! |

I know where you are coming from Dave and yes the QPR annual shit show is rolling back into town. I have smelt this coming for a while and it has fully accelerated since the drubbing at Southampton. The first half was a disgrace yes but why on earth are we playing a flat back four again in a 4,2,3,1 formation. It's like ringing the dinner bell for the opposition. As per the previous games there are gaps everywhere through our midfield. The players have no faith in it and it shows. Surely they have team meetings during the week and analyse previous performances and you need to change the system to the players that are available. Having JCS as an orthodox left back and Vale as a wide player with Saito in the ten was pure comedy. I noticed he switched Vale and Saito after about 25 minutes but the damage was already done. No doubt he will do the same again Saturday (Leicester are 5/4 for the win by the way) and we will be circa 6 points of relegation come 5.00pm Saturday. The Cook injury is another nail in the coffin that I can only see ending one way. All teams below and around us are picking up points and we are shot to bits. |

Robith - Some great info there thank you. I have an afternoon in front of the TV so that will help me immensely. What's your prediction for tonight at St Andrews? |

Thanks Clive - Some good points made in that piece. Everyone keeps telling me we have nothing to play for. Am I the only one who is still worried about relegation? From what I have seen in the last three games I am worried we could go into freefall and be dragged into the dog fight with four games to go. I can't see where the next goal is coming from let alone the next point. "Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue" Best of luck to everyone heading for St Andrews tonight. I salute each and every one of you. |

Thanks Clive - A very well written and sobering report which is bang on the money as always. My season ticket seat was one of the many that was empty Sunday. I just couldn't muster the will to get to HQ. My poor Daughter did go with her friend and speaking to her on the phone as she trudged back down South Africa Road to White City Tube made me angry because I had no answers to her questions. Why are the players so unfit? What the hell was that formation? Why don't we tackle anyone? And the worse one of all - Why did you make me support QPR? There is something very smelly going on behind the scenes right now. |

The last 3 games have been a tactical shambles. Yes we have injuries but how we continue to set up with a back four and Vale and Saito out wide is football suicide. The overall fitness of the players both mentally and physically is shocking not just in stamina but even our short ten yard sprints are half arsed and slow. I'm not calling for the manager to go (yet) but if he were to leave I certainly wouldn't be disappointed. |

Thanks Clive - Great analysis of modern football. I very rarely watch The Premier League anymore. When not at W12 I enjoy watching my local non league side (step 4) who are only 300 yards from my house. The quality of non league has improved dramatically over the past decade. BTW - I have a good feeling for tomorrow - No pressure on us expected lose etc etc.... |

From my naked eye I don't think it was 3 at the back first half - It looked 4,4,2 to me with Edwards RB and Esq LB with Varane and Morgan as a two in central midfield. As expected with that set up we got totally overrun in all areas. Whatever it was it was certainly a mess with lots of shrugged shoulders and finger pointing from the players. |

Thanks Clive - A great read on a thoroughly frustrating afternoon. What annoys me the most is that everyone in the pub could see the problem when the team was announced so why the hell could our management team not smell the danger. I have been ok with JS this season but the last 2 games have left me completely frustrated with him tactically. All of a sudden 52 points seems a lot further away than it should be. |

We tried The Askew for the first time for pre match drinks. Decent boozer and lovely Guinness. I thought Ronnie Edwards was ok and we gave him MOTM on the way home closely followed by Kone who worked his arse off and should have his name on the scoresheet if it wasn't for that killjoy linesman. Apart from that not much else to shout about - Our formation gifted The Blades the win just as we all expected when we saw the team sheet in the pub. [Post edited 1 Mar 9:51]

 | Forum Thread | 3 at the back with wing backs Saturday? at 12:21 26 Feb 2026
The one (and only) thing we seem ok on now is centre backs so could this now be the time we get to see it on Saturday. I thought we switched to it for the last 15 minutes on Tuesday and it seemed to close some of the gaps. My thoughts are 3,5,2 when attacking 5,3,2 when defending: Walsh Dunne Cook Edwards/JCS (either can play on the left of the 3) Mbengue/Smyth (RWB) Saito/RND/Esquerdinha (LWB) Hayden/Varane/Morgan/Vale (3 from these 4 for midfield) Kone/Kolie/Bennie (2 from these 3 for up top) I think if we go 4,4,2 or 4,2,3,1 Sheff Utd will have a field day. |

Thanks Clive - Covered everything perfectly as normal. Felt for the 1,800 fans tucked away in the corner somewhere. My kids had enough after the 3rd shouted and swore at the TV and went to their respective bedrooms only to pop back down just before the end to see the final score - Ouch!! They will be back with me on Saturday in W12 - The wife says its child cruelty and I'm starting to think she might be right.... |

Brilliant Clive - Brought make so many memories of Southampton away over the decades. Those wooden seats have a great story from me too which was an altercation with Francis Benali back in the nineties. Can’t say anymore in case the Hampshire police reopen the file………but it’s a cracker belive me. |

Thanks Clive - Covered everything about this rotten result perfectly. We all dropped our levels of intensity thinking we were going to get a straightforward win. I include us the crowd in that as the whole atmosphere seemed flat which I guess transpired to the team. After 50 years of going to “Loftus” I should know and expect Saturday’s result but it still grates me everytime. Bloody football club…….. |

I think so too - The club is heading in the right direction. Of course he is not going to get everything right but I believe he has put us on the right track. A very intelligent, hard working CEO. |

I think with Arsenal still fighting on four fronts he will continue to get plenty of game time. They seem to be playing him centrally which may be the problem of getting on the ball in congested areas. His best work for Palace was on the left where he could get more space and time to pick passes and cut in. Whatever happens from here on in he will always be a legend in W12 for signing that contract. |
