Am I right in thinking both transfers had add ons.
I would imagine Birmingham getting promoted would trigger some cash as part of the Dykes deal and Bristol City getting promoted would do the same with the Armstrong deal.
As someone who remembers the running battles with Luton in the eighties I did have a wry smile on thier relegation yesterday especially as they thought they were a good bet for a straight return back to the Premiership.
Probably the best write up preview of a game of football I have ever read. A very powerful and honest article that somehow captures the current situation at our beloved football club.
We are so lucky to have such talent as one of our own.
Thanks Clive and gang - Enjoyed listening to that sitting in the garden with a G&T.
I don't think it will happen but:
Ruban should get Christian and Marti in a room and bang their heads together then work on a plan that see's Marti stay at the club (he is under contract) for another season.
Then release a positive PR statement that reads all issues now resolved and we move forward together next season.
Probably the best and easiest way out of this mess.
Thanks Clive - It's made me think this. You have quite rightly picked five dreadful games under Marti - Can I also add these to it only because I was one of the poor sods there.
Derby 2 V 0 QPR - Abysmal - Wrong team selection and tactics. Swansea 3 v 0 QPR - Abysmal - Wrong team selection and tactics. Leicester 6 v 2 - Abysmal - Wrong team selection and tactics. Leeds 2 V 0 - Abysmal - Wrong team selection and tactics. Stoke 3 V 1 - Abysmal - Wrong team selection and tactics.
Congratulations - My daughter attended her first QPR game with me at 5 years old. She has just turned seventeen and is QPR mad. She is now a season ticket holder and going to Sunderland with her mates on Saturday.
I will never forget being in the away end with her at Bristol City when Yoann Barbet scored in the last minute. The celebrations will stay with us both forever.
Enjoy - A Dad and Daughter relationship is very special.
Thank you Clive for such a accurate report on that slop Saturday.
Such a shame this time last year going into the summer we were all excited about our prospects for the following season but now we can't wait for it to be over and have a break from what has become a labour of love.
No doubt myself and the kids will renew our Season Tickets next year (51st year for me) and we will be full of hope again come August but for now I won't be missing my trips up to W12 apart from the pie, mash and liquor that is.
Also love Jimmy Dunne and hope he stays but think he may move due to financial reasons.
I also think Marti will stay too. All managers have disagreements with their CEO'S and Nourry isn't silly. He will know the Dubai situation hasn't worked and I'm sure he will change it.
They will work it out I'm sure.
Anyway for one last time (for me) - Come on you R'rrs
I don't think you can have a 36 year old looking to start every game but he would be good for cover and coming off the bench for injuries or if we are trying to close a game out. He is good in the dressing room and his experience could help the younger players. That's why I say it should only be for sensible money.
Personally I would have gone for Morgan as a direct replacement for Varane and kept the Edwards Morison partnership at the back which is so important in the Championship.
Agree with Madsen in the starting 11 but I don't think you can have both Madsen and Anderson in the same starting 11. Both are luxury players and don't have a great work ethic without the ball. I think the last time they started together was Derby away and I've still got the scars from that horror show.
Such a bloody shame Smyth's suspension as he would have been perfect and Madsen could have gone back in the middle.
Thank you Clive a very good read and summary of the afternoon.
We all sighed in the pub when we saw the team never in a million years should Anderson and Madsen be in your starting eleven. Both are luxury players and it gives the initiative to the opposition to boss the midfield which is exactly what happened. We also broke up our good centre half partnership of Edwards and Morrison. I love Marti but they were basic errors.
I watched Colback closely during in the game and one plus point was he still has legs and got around the pitch well especially as it was his second game in a couple of days. If we can agree sensible money with him I would offer him another year. Would be a good bench option for next season.
Yeah School end is strange empty seats again in the upper tier by SAR. I can only presume we have had a health and safety directive but it would be good if the club communicated that with the fans.
Anyway just pleased we are safe and can watch the others fight it out at the bottom. I was convinced we were going down on the train back from Leeds in November.
Agree we needed a system change to suit the personal available as the game just reiterated what we have seen all season.
1) Fox can not play in a 2 at centre half it needs to be in a 3
2) Anderson and Madsen are luxury players that can not play in the same starting 11. Especially if the third player in your 3 is Yang. None of them tracked back enough when needed. This is something Paul Smyth does in spades and was missed.
You need to work really hard off the ball closing down space. Swansea did that all game we were really poor without the ball. Desire and energy win you games in The Championship especially in midfield.
At the end of the day it boiled down to Swansea wanted it more all over the pitch and won most of their duels and 50/50's.
On the plus side Colback still has legs and should get another year providing it's on sensible money.
