PS. Just get the train. It’s quite quick from Liverpool Street. Don’t get the National Express as it takes forever and the weirdos down the front insist on chatting up the driver. I’ve never been to Carrow Road but it’s got a hotel apparently. There’s also a Travelodge / Premier Inn or similar right next to the station. The hospital must be decent as it helped Ms FFS survive when she recently got admitted after having an alcohol-related seizure. I hope no one ends up there. There’s a nice art gallery at UEA and they’ve got a billion quid’s worth or art if you like that kind of thing. That’s a bus, taxi or Uber ride away though. They’ve done up the castle recently and there’s a city museum too. I’ve never been drinking in Norwich but there’s hundreds of pubs. You can see (and hear) the ground from the city centre so it can’t be that far away. The locals talk funny but are very friendly. |

I like staying at the Maid’s Head hotel, which is supposed to be the oldest hotel in England. There’s a nice Indian opposite, a decent charity coffee shop just down the road and it’s right by the cathedral and the school where Admiral Nelson was first taught to kill forrins. I also like shopping in Jarrold’s. Last time I was in there, Josh Sargent was in there signing shirts. I was tempted to queue up and beg him to force a move to Saints but didn’t think the locals would appreciate that. In the olden days it was the biggest city in England behind London. Edmund the Martyr should be reinstated as our patron saint in place of St George, as that dragon-shagger wasn’t even English. The Great Farm Derby can’t be all that because I’ve seen double hard bastards in Ipswich shirts in the centre of Norwich. I like Norwich - it’s safe, nice and quaint and old-fashioned and we’re planning to buy a house there. The seaside isn’t far away either. Just don’t go anywhere near Great Yarmouth or you might bump into Rupert Lowe. [Post edited 11 Dec 19:05]

I saw Iain Dowie leaving a Sam Smith gig a few years ago. I’m assuming he was also there under sufferance. He’s had a dicky ticker recently so I’m glad he’s doing OK now. |

When I last went to Fratton back in 2004/05 (IIRC - I am rather old) I took the train from Guildford. It was full of Skates so I just kept a low profile and was unscathed. I mean, I was psychologically damaged by the football but was physically unharmed. It probably helped that I’m a real hard man. I don’t remember what the final score was but a great time was had by all (Pompey fans). I nearly got in a fight with a fellow Saints fan so it wasn’t my proudest moment. |

If I could get a ticket for this one I’d fly back and bring Ms FFS home from UEA at the same time. As it is, I’ll be glued to the sofa as per. |

It’s a fair point but I don’t think you can ever have too many attacking opportunities. AA is playing really well and is proven at this level but the jury is still out on Stewart, Downs and Archer. I know Kieffer Moore has his admirers but I watched him miss an absolute sitter last night. One of my criticisms of AA was that he wasn’t clinical enough but he seems very precise with his finishing at the moment. Daddy Ings scored the other night too. We must be able to pick someone else up to help with the promotion push. |

As usual, I will refuse to watch it until it’s on. I applied for a job in the US recently with half an eye on trying to go to a game or two but I didn’t get it. It’s probably for the best given my internet history and the crackdown on people who hate big, orange fascists. |

Are they the ones who eat jellied eels, always going on about having to take the apples and pears and are constantly doing the Lambeth Walk? |

I think you’ll find that life was much better in the 50s when there was rationing, women had to pop out babies non-stop and gay people didn’t exist. |

Talking of West Ham (which you weren’t) I was just telling my wife how much I hate Bruno Fernandes and why last night when the Hammers started singing “Bruno Fernandes - you look like a rat!” That amused me as that was one of the reasons I gave for hating him. His young brother, Mateus, is much better than him anyway. |

My prostate exam was at 8am (CET). It’s all clear. |

What do kids these days get Glenn Cockerill to sign when they attend their first game in the Junior Saints section? I sincerely hope they haven’t stopped showing Saint and Greavsie on the TV in the lounge either. God, when did I get so old FFS? |

I thought that too. They just need at least one Wallace in the side. |
